Chapter 221: Devour
_____
Robin let out a sigh of relief, though her mind remained somewhat muddled by the current circumstances.
At the very least, the person who had suddenly appeared, dragging her into a plan to assassinate both the king and the prince, seemed relatively approachable and easy to talk to.
Aoki turned to her and asked, "Do you know where Graham is? How can we contact him?"
"Leave that to me," Robin replied confidently.
"Great!" Aoki nodded approvingly. "We'll put the assassination of the king and the eldest prince on hold for now. The next priority is destroying the Twin Blade Pirates. The biggest challenge is figuring out how to find them."
Robin thought for a moment before responding. "I think I might know where to locate them."
Aoki's eyes brightened. "You do?"
"I've heard some things about the Twin Blade Pirates," Robin explained. "They're not just powerful; they're also incredibly elusive. They appear and disappear as if they were ghost's. Once I learned about their ties to the Ram Kingdom, I realized they must have a hidden and secure base here."
Robin pulled out a map, circling several locations.
"Based on the patterns of their previous activities, I'd wager their base is in one of these places—or perhaps even multiple ones."
"Excellent!" Aoki's face lit up with admiration.
The two tasks he'd been dreading now seemed far more manageable with Robin's assistance.
"This is what I call a gold-medal assist!" he thought.
Ironically, his original purpose for heading to Barabio was to find Robin, but his search there yielded nothing. Now, while visiting the Ram Kingdom for an entirely different mission, Robin had shown up on her own accord.
It was just as they said: search long enough, and sometimes what you seek comes to you without effort.
Robin hesitated briefly before asking, "Are you absolutely sure about this? Assassinating the king and the eldest prince, or destroying the Twin Blade Pirates—it's all incredibly dangerous."
Aoki smirked confidently. "Don't worry. If there's one thing I excel at, it's fighting."
Robin said no more.
After ironing out the details, the two left the restaurant and split up.
Robin went off to gather intelligence and establish contact with General Graham, while Aoki headed northward, flying directly toward the remote regions of the Ram Kingdom.
---
Far to the north, an uninhabited island lay isolated in the vast expanse of the ocean.
At the island's center, concealed within the dense jungle, stood a hidden complex.
Inside one of the buildings, members of the Twin Blade Pirates' First and Second Fleets gathered for a raucous celebration. The room was filled with laughter, the clinking of glasses, and the rich aroma of roasted meat.
Sabri, seated in a chair with two large swords resting at his side, tore into a piece of barbecued meat.
He spoke, his voice carrying authority, "Second Brother, you've heard the news by now, haven't you? Yarlin is dead, and the Third Fleet has been completely wiped out!"
Across from him, a young man with a brutish, scarred face grinned wickedly. His fierce eyes sparkled with malicious delight.
"Hahaha, good riddance!" he said, laughing loudly. "That arrogant bastard thought he was untouchable because he was a trusted insider. I've been waiting for something like this to happen for ages!"
Sabri chuckled. "It's not all bad. Yarlin's death only makes them more dependent on us."
The scar-faced man frowned. "But, Big Brother, why should we keep working for them? With our crew's strength, there's no place in the West Sea we couldn't conquer ourselves."
Sabri shook his head, his cunning eyes betraying a sharp intellect that didn't match his brutish appearance. "We're not working for them; we're collaborating with them. They need us to handle their dirty work, and in exchange, they provide us with supplies and protection. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement."
The scarred man scowled. "Still, it could bring us more trouble than it's worth."
"That's not—" Sabri began, but his words were cut off by a deafening explosion.
Crash!
The ceiling above them shattered, and a massive fireball descended, engulfing the room in an inferno.
Boom!
The flames surged, swallowing everything in their path. The heat was overwhelming, turning the jungle air suffocating as the fire raged out of control.
After what felt like an eternity, a charred figure stirred amidst the wreckage. Slowly, they opened their eyes.
The memories from before he fell into unconsciousness surged back, and Sabri sat up abruptly.
What's going on?
What happened?
Where did the fireball come from?
What happened to the others?
"It seems there's still someone alive here."
A strange voice broke through his daze.
Sabri turned his head sharply toward the source of the voice.
The flames parted, revealing a figure walking toward him. The man had jet-black hair and eyes that gleamed with wild intensity. A thick black tail swayed behind him, exuding a predatory aura.
"Who are you?" Sabri demanded.
Aoki's gaze scanned him, and he smirked. "You're surprisingly resilient. Surviving the dragon's breath isn't an easy feat. Are you the captain of the Twin Blade Pirates?"
"That's right," Sabri replied, slowly rising to his feet. His bloodshot eyes fixed on Aoki with a murderous glare. "Who are you? Did you do all this?"
Aoki's expression remained indifferent. "No need to get so worked up. You and your crew have massacred countless villages and cities. As the saying goes, those who kill will be killed. Surely you were prepared for this eventuality."
Sabri reached for his two large blades, his tone thick with killing intent. "What about you? You've slaughtered my brothers. Are you ready to face death yourself?"
Aoki scoffed. "I'm not like you. I only kill those who deserve it." He paused, shaking his head slightly. "No, scratch that. Your men were no longer human. I merely rid the world of some filth."
Sabri erupted into laughter, though his voice was filled with rage. "Hahaha! Then I'll send you to hell myself!"
With a roar, Sabri charged at Aoki, his twin blades flashing murderously.
A black blur flickered in the air, and in the next moment, Sabri's head flew from his body. His headless corpse staggered forward before collapsing into the roaring flames.

[Congratulations! You have leveled up.]
The system notifications echoed in Aoki's mind, and a satisfied expression spread across his face.
"That guy wasn't bluffing. He really was the leader of the Twin Blade Pirates."
He glanced at the system interface and let out a small sigh of disappointment. "But another one-star treasure chest? How underwhelming."
Shrugging, Aoki opened his system and allocated his free attribute points.

---
The completion of the "Captain Hunter" and "Destroy the Fleet" missions, combined with the level-up, granted him six free skill points.
Aoki's gaze swept across his skill bar, briefly pausing on Spirit of Vengeance before moving on.
He decided against upgrading Spirit of Vengeance further. Though maxing it out would increase the drop rate and quality of treasure chests, it wouldn't make a significant difference in his current situation.
The quality of treasure chests wasn't solely determined by skill level; it also depended on the strength of the defeated targets. To obtain a four-star treasure chest, he would need to kill four-star monsters—something beyond his current capabilities.
In fact, he hadn't even acquired a three-star chest yet.
Given these limitations, it made more sense to invest his skill points elsewhere.
The Ultimate Form skill automatically leveled up, so he didn't need to worry about it. That left him with Dragon Breath and Devour.
Dragon Breath was already a powerful attack, and upgrading it wouldn't significantly impact its effectiveness while in Ultimate Form.
That left Devour.
As a growth skill, Devour had great potential. Though he hadn't learned it until now due to various reasons, it was finally time.
Having made up his mind, Aoki didn't hesitate and selected Devour.
A cool sensation coursed through him as new information etched itself into his mind.
