Chapter 16: Chapter 16: General's Mansion Eldest Lady VS Transmigrated Younger Sister (Part 15)
The wind paused at this moment.
Gu Shengyin was somewhat at a loss, calling out to the system in her mind, "System, what should I do now?"
Unfortunately, the system was as if frozen, steadfastly unresponsive to her.
Ji Yu watched Gu Shengyin's panicked face, his expression darkening.
He knew that Jiang Lingzhen had not yet come to his senses at this moment, but he did not wish to wait any longer. Just as he was about to draw closer, his expression suddenly changed.
Someone was approaching.
Knowing that his identity was not yet fit to be disclosed to the public, Ji Yu whispered to Gu Shengyin, "I suddenly have something urgent and must leave immediately. Let's consider today's incident a little secret between the two of us, alright?" His last question was voiced in a lowered tone, the trailing sounds turning tenderly persuasive, causing Gu Shengyin's face to flush again.
Seeing her nod obediently, Ji Yu smiled in satisfaction. After a moment of thought, he placed the Summoning Affection Flower in Gu Shengyin's hair and swiftly departed.
Only when Ji Yu had left did Gu Shengyin finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"Congratulations, host, you have been confessed to." The system's voice resumed.
Gu Shengyin felt somewhat aggrieved, "I called out to you so many times just now, and you didn't respond to me."
The system paused before responding, "There was a glitch in the program just now, and it was self-repairing."
"What should I do?" asked Gu Shengyin.
The system considered for a moment, "The original plan was for you to support Ji Yu in becoming the Emperor while you become the Empress. Isn't him being fond of you the most suitable situation?"
Gu Shengyin thought about it, and it seemed to make sense. But something still felt off?
"Ah Zhen!" Before Gu Shengyin could figure it out, the call from the County Princess Danyang interrupted her thoughts.
Gu Shengyin stood up as the County Princess Danyang dismounted her horse and immediately embraced her.
"I was terrified when I saw what happened to your horse. Thank goodness you're ok," sobbed the County Princess Danyang.
Gu Shengyin comforted her friend in her arms, "There, there, I'm fine, aren't I?"
Behind Danyang was a troop of soldiers clad in armor; presumably, Danyang had gone back in her desperation to bring back reinforcements.
Danyang refused to allow Gu Shengyin to ride a horse again, and forcefully brought her to sit in a carriage on the way back.
"I found some guards nearby. By now, Auntie Wen Cheng and the Great General must have received the news," said County Princess Danyang to Gu Shengyin.
Her father, Commandery Prince Li, was born from a former Empress, and it was logical for her to call Eldest Princess Wen Cheng "Auntie."
As they were speaking, a disturbance came from outside the carriage.
"What happened?" County Princess Danyang lifted the curtain.
"Replying to the County Princess, it's the Great General," answered the guard outside.
Hearing it was her father, Gu Shengyin quickly lifted the curtain and went out.
"Ah Zhen!" The Great General, seeing his daughter unharmed, swiftly dismounted and embraced her.
Upon receiving the news of his daughter's frightful incident earlier today, he was stunned. After soothing his wife, he wasted no time in bringing troops here.
"Let's go home first," commanded the Great General, after informing the County Princess Danyang, personally escorting his daughter back to their mansion.
"My Ah Zhen!" Auntie Wen Cheng, having received the news earlier, had been eagerly waiting at the door. Upon seeing Gu Shengyin unscathed, her tears immediately began to fall.
Gu Shengyin was at a loss; she had never experienced such familial affection before and could only clumsily embrace and console Eldest Princess Wen Cheng.
After some difficulty in calming her mother, Gu Shengyin was brought forward by the couple and they meticulously inquired about the whole incident.
