Chapter 13: Her saving him
"I would love to," he said after clearing his throat.
They both started walking out of the forest and ended up where they started before.
Their cars were still standing there. They both looked at each other.
The racing she told him about was a different one and they both knew about it but at the same time, they didn't mind participating in another race.
"Whoever reaches there first gets to make a demand and the other must fulfill their demand," she said and he nodded his head.
How could he not agree to whatever she says? He was ready to follow her blindly.
They both were in love with each other in the past but the problem is she was in love with him too deeply since the start but he was too late.
He couldn't fall for her as deeply as she felt for him. She was ready to risk it all for him while he couldn't.
He was a coward who didn't deserve her bold love. He was a coward who wasn't strong enough to accept the greatest things that she was offering him.
She got in her car and so did he. The road was clear and the chance of someone else coming here was zero to nonexistent.
Nobody was dumb enough to come here with a car. The road might be perfect but it wasn't ideal enough to drive.
If the break fails and they end up falling from the cliff then it's over for them. There's no way that one can come back alive after such a big accident.
The most one would do is come here by walking or taking a cycle with them.
Veronica signals to start the race and both she and Andrew start their car at the same time. She looks at him from the side mirror and smirks.
And that was her last smile before she started running in the fastest way possible. The normal speed was long crossed and she wasn't in the mood to slow down.
She looked to the side and the car's speed was so fast that she couldn't see anything other than blurry vision.
Her blood was rushing in her veins and a chuckle left her lips. She was loving it.
She loves this feeling. She pressed one button and the rooftop disappeared, making the breeze touch her body without any barrier.
She started chuckling more, she felt like a little baby with a sugar rush but no little baby would ever do what she was doing and she was well aware of it.
As usual, one thing was in her brain: win. She was a greedy woman, greedy for success and power.
She wasn't even afraid of accepting this. She was desperate for success and only success matters to her.
She doesn't care who's her competition,
she doesn't care about what the other person is going through,
She only cares about winning.
She was happy as long as she is the one winning. She was ok with helping the other side but only after securing her spot.
She wasn't the kindest woman out there who would sacrifice themselves for others. She won't put her life at risk to save others.
That was the past her. She would help others even if they walk all over her. They could throw her off a cliff and she would still wave at them with a happy smile, just so they don't feel bad about pushing her down the cliff.
She was the most selfless girl out there but now, she was in her selfish woman era and she doesn't care if she's portrayed as an evil woman who is hated by everyone.
All she cares about is herself and she was proud of herself.
She raised the speed even higher and the scale was about to break now.
Andrew was no less, his speed was the same but as the road wasn't big enough for two cars to move at the same time, he was behind her.
She was quick enough to fill up the entire road before he even got the chance to despite both of them starting at the same time.
That's why she was called a beauty with brains.
Soon the empty road was finished and they entered the city. Driving at such speed was illegal and both of them knew if the police catch them then it was over.
They will drag them to the police station and they would rather kill the police than join the other criminals in the cell.
Plus, it was a lot of paperwork and they couldn't bother doing that.
It's as if call the devil and he shall appear. Just when they thought of the police, they could hear sirens and they looked back to see a car running behind them.
It was the police, trying to catch them.
The car's window opened and a police's head came out. He has a mic in his hands.
"Stop the car before it's too late. If we catch you guys then it's over for you both. I am afraid that you both will have to spend the rest of your lives in the cells if you don't stop now," he said and Veronica smirked.
"Catch me? Huh, never. And they are warning me while breaking the rules themselves, hypocrites," she said and continued to run.
"That's your last warning, stop!"
Andrew noticed that Veronica hasn't stopped and he wasn't planning on stopping until she does so.
"Baby, you are the man but I got the power. You can't catch me so easily and you will never be able to. I will surrender myself if I feel like doing so and for now, I am not in the mood. Lower the car's speed unless you guys want to get in an accident. But for now, bye," she said in the mic that was attached to her car and popped out after she pressed a button.
The police were dumbfounded by her words and in the blink of an eye, she was gone.
