Chapter 34 - The Grand Plan

Training Addict Magician in a Growth-Focused Story

EP.34 The Grand Plan

In the end, Leon couldn’t find the books he wanted in the central library.

He searched using all sorts of keywords in the artifact that helps locate books, but he didn’t find a single one.

He only managed to transcribe a few books related to history and took them with him.

As Leon headed back to the training room with a sense of disappointment, he encountered a familiar face on the first floor.

It was Peter, a common disciple.

Peter, who was always busy but had a lively personality, awkwardly smiled as soon as he saw Leon.

Seeing that, Leon also felt awkward instantly.

“Ha ha… Sir Leon… Hello.”

“Ah, yes… Sir Peter…”

“You don’t need to speak formally to me. You’re the Tower Master’s personal disciple now.”

“No…”

Everyone knew that he was only a disciple in name.

Even so, such a reaction left Leon unsure of how to respond.

He thought they would just pass each other awkwardly, but Peter seemed to remember something and rummaged through his belongings.

“Now that I think about it, you said you reached the first rank, but I didn’t give you this. You might not need it, but…”

Peter handed him a lowest-grade water magic book.

“I don’t know what attribute you have, so I’ll give you this for now. Should I leave the other attributes in front of your private training room…?”

“Oh… I’ll find them myself. Thank you.”

Leon took the magic book and started climbing the stairs, then belatedly tilted his head in confusion.

‘Private training room?’

Leon slapped his forehead.

Since he had been holed up in one training room, they seemed to consider it as Leon’s private training room.

‘But it’s too late to switch to another training room now…’

Leon entered the training room, feeling uneasy.

‘Was Widia a mistake from the start… No matter where I go, I feel out of place.’

Even though he had become the Tower Master’s personal disciple, the feeling of being an outsider didn’t disappear.

‘Well, I am an outsider…’

Leon shook his head.

He decided to be grateful for the fact that he could train freely.

The common disciples’ training room was cramped and lacked protective magic circles, making it unsuitable for someone at Leon’s rank, who was on the verge of reaching the Beginner Arcane rank. However, since he was still focusing on Arpina’s basic magic to elevate his consciousness, it was manageable.

But the time to train higher-rank magic was approaching.

He also needed to hone his ‘Arcane Magic.’

He was currently just on the brink of becoming a complete beginner in Arcane rank.

He felt that one more realization about the core of Arpina’s 5-star magic, Harmony, would make him a complete beginner.

His current number of threads of will was eight.

With one more realization, it would become nine.

Had he progressed through normal stages, it would have been ten, but it was the price of his rapid advancement.

Of course, this price would be offset as he raised his rank further.

It wasn’t strange to start preparing to raise his rank now.

‘This is why I saved up orb time.’

By training for 20 hours in reality and 10 hours in the orb, he accumulated 30 hours of orb time each day.

He had now amassed 3050 hours of orb time.

That was enough time to spend four months inside the orb.

It was possible because he had devoted himself to training without proper sleep for the past three months.

‘Let’s reduce real-world training until I reach the end of the Beginner Arcane rank.’

Leon entered the orb.

During the three months of intense training, Leon had realized many things.

First, the time spent inside the orb.

By now, Leon had spent at least over a year inside the orb.

At first, he thought his physical growth was slow, but upon reflection, he realized he was growing appropriately for a 14-year-old.

‘Does aging not progress inside the orb?’

Specifically, Leon’s own aging.

The corpses of Forn and the red-haired man had already decomposed into skeletons.

There was also the growth of herbs.

For aging not to progress, it had to apply only to Leon.

‘If the orb is entirely user-specific, it makes sense…’

If all sorts of convenient functions were included, it made sense that only Leon’s aging would stop.

He felt he could be certain of this if he spent another year inside the orb.

“When are you going to check it out?”

Kito, in human form through polymorph, circled around Leon and spoke to him.

Kito had returned around the time Leon began his training.

She had explored the orb and found a large lake.

She brought some water from the lake to Leon, saying it seemed extraordinary.

The water Kito brought had a mysterious aura, but its use was still unknown.

Simply drinking it had no effect despite the aura it exuded.

“Let’s go once I can definitely use Arcane Magic.”

“Got it. Not much time left.”

For Kito, a few months was indeed not a long time.

She had recovered to the point where she could use basic magic.

Although she hadn’t found her core yet, she was in a state where it didn’t matter much even if she left the orb.

Her core was hidden in the western forest of beasts, adjacent to the Vasprion Kingdom.

Leon didn’t know exactly how she managed to store an intangible core separately, but after seeing what dark magicians did, he understood that it wasn’t impossible.

Leon sat down in a lotus position.

Over the past three months, Leon had received around 180 rewards.

Initially, he focused on artifacts to strengthen his power, but afterward, he alternated between artifacts and magic books.

Now, the probability had increased, making D-grade the main rewards.

F-grade and E-grade rewards appeared 2-3 times out of every 10, but except for Blink, he converted all of them into mileage.

The main D-grade scrolls included:

Water Prison

Explosion

Wind Blade

Healing Aura

Healing Aura was a magic scroll that allowed the use of basic healing magic on a wide scale.

Among the C-grade magic scrolls, the useful ones were:

Gravity Well

A magic that manipulated gravity within a certain range. Its strength could affect up to the advanced rank of Arcane Magic.

Illusion Creation

A magic that created illusions that looked real. For 10 minutes, the user could control an identical-looking illusion according to their will. However, the illusion could not use magic.

Other than that, there were various attribute attack spells that could affect up to the advanced rank of Arcane Magic.

The B-grade magic scroll was Magic Amplification.

Even when using Arcane Magic, it could amplify the power to the Mystic rank once. Using a beginner-rank Mystic spell would elevate its power to the advanced rank.

The C+ grade artifact was the Guardian Robe.

A robe inscribed with defensive magic circles that automatically generated a shield when attacked. It had 12 magic circles that could block spells from the Arcane to the beginner rank of Mystic Magic.

Once the 12 magic circles were consumed, the Guardian Robe would lose its effectiveness.

The B-grade artifact was a dedicated subspace pouch.

It was a subspace pouch that no one could open except the user who first infused it with magic.

Leon converted all D-grade artifacts, except those with a +, into mileage.

These included staffs, wands, floating magic auxiliary artifacts, magic power enhancement, and shield artifacts.

He then used the D-grade artifact mileage to obtain a C+ grade artifact, the Bell of Confusion.

When rung, the bell could disturb the mind of anyone who heard its sound.

It seemed like it would be more useful when used with a magic sword.

However, since it affected everyone except the user, it wasn’t a good artifact to use when allies were around.

While he managed to get some useful artifacts, the magic books were problematic.

D-grade books were entirely unnecessary, and after securing suitable C-grade fire, water, and earth attribute magic, he had to convert the rest into mileage.

The only somewhat useful magic book was ‘Potion Crafting Magic of the Fasciota Family (C+).’

Leon needed attribute magic for:

Wind Magic: Gale (C+)

Lightning Magic: Glory of the Thunderbolt (C+)

Wood Magic: Thousand Leaves (B+)

Sword Magic: Moonlight Scattering Sword (?)

Finding a magic book that suited his needs wasn’t easy.

Otherwise, he needed to find better magic of the same attributes.

It was quite a challenge.

Praying for multi-attribute magic while receiving rewards was something he did more than once.

‘I really have no luck with draws…’

In the midst of this, he received the Radiance of Creation.

‘Now there’s no need to hold any more regrets.’

Since it was time to raise his rank again, he needed to start converting rewards into potions.

Since becoming an all-attribute constitution, Leon’s efficiency with potions had increased. Originally, he needed to consume essences ranging from D+ to C-grade, but even D- grade essences were effective up to the beginner rank.

This allowed him to receive potions as rewards more leisurely.

He still had essences collected from the lair.

It meant that starting preparations now wasn’t too late.

‘I hope a potion crafting method appears.’

While it was fine for the time being, he couldn’t keep receiving potions as rewards indefinitely, so it was necessary for the future.

Having finished his thoughts, Leon resumed his training.

He wouldn’t leave until he could use the Arcane Magic, Dawn’s Thunder.

*****

Deep underground, shrouded in darkness.

A chandelier made of black crystals emitted a faint purple light from the ceiling, and a massive obsidian table occupied the center.

The heavy voice of the man seated at the head of the table echoed through the space.

“The time has come.”

Several people were seated around the table, and the woman sitting closest to the head responded in a voice filled with rapture.

“Finally…! You’ve broken through the barrier. I’ve been waiting for this day for so long.”

Another man spoke in a stiff voice, as if he had been waiting for this moment.

“There have been no major setbacks in the plans we’ve been steadily building. Except for one place…”

“Is it the task that Forn was responsible for?”

“You even remember the name. Yes, it’s him.”

The woman who had spoken with rapture earlier chuckled.

“It’s a trivial matter. It has no impact on our grand plan.”

“The monster bird…”

“It’s just a monster without a core. We’ve already obtained everything we needed.”

“Then… this is the real beginning. Widia was the first step, right?”

“Coincidentally, Widia also interfered with our plan.”

“This will be interesting.”

The other members around the table each made a comment.

The thought that they no longer had to hide in the shadows made the hearts of those seated around the table race with excitement.
