Chapter 32: Hidden Mist:Zabuza
As the mission rank increased, so did our pay, which was a small consolation for the growing dangers we were about to face. With Tazuna's confession out of the way, we moved forward with heightened caution, but no further attacks came our way until we approached the Land of Waves.
The atmosphere shifted as a dense mist rolled in, thickening with every step we took. We were on high alert, knowing that enemies could strike at any moment. We still had to cross the waters, but the sudden mist made visibility difficult, and the tension in the air grew.
Suddenly, without warning, a massive blade swung toward us, cutting through the air with deadly precision. Instinctively, we ducked, even forcing Tazuna down with us, narrowly avoiding the attack. The blade was hard to spot in the mist, but I could sense it clearly, and we knew we were now in the presence of a serious threat.
As the mist began to clear, a figure emerged, standing tall and imposing with a massive blade slung across his back. Kakashi's eyes widened in recognition.
"That's... Zabuza Momochi. One of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist," Kakashi muttered, visibly tense. The shock of realizing an S-rank jonin was our enemy hung in the air. This was no ordinary C-rank mission anymore.
Zabuza's gaze locked onto Kakashi, a twisted smile forming on his face. "If it isn't the Copy Ninja, Hatake Kakashi. I suppose it was only natural that the ambush failed with someone like you protecting them," Zabuza said, his voice carrying a mixture of amusement and menace.
The air was thick with danger, and the realization that we were up against one of the most feared ninja in the world wasn't lost on any of us. This fight would be on a whole different level than anything we had faced before. Kakashi pulled up his headband, revealing his Sharingan, ready for what was to come.
"Stay on guard," Kakashi instructed us, his voice steady despite the tension. "This won't be easy."
I could sense the tension rising as the fight between Kakashi, the famed Copy Ninja who had mastered over a thousand jutsus, and Zabuza, one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, was about to begin. This was no ordinary confrontation—it was between two legends, and I knew it would be something to behold.
"This fight is going to be interesting," I said with anticipation. "Kakashi, are you planning to handle him on your own, or will we be joining the fight?"
Kakashi, his Sharingan already activated, glanced back at us. "No, you all stay back and protect Tazuna. I can handle him," he replied confidently, his calm demeanor never wavering.
Zabuza stood across from us, clearly puzzled. He was used to being feared, his reputation as one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist preceding him wherever he went. Yet here we were, casually discussing how Kakashi would handle him, as though he were just another obstacle. His frustration was palpable. The idea that a group of "brats" could take him so lightly must have stung his pride.
Unable to contain himself, Zabuza swung his massive sword directly at us. His frustration turned into violence, the blade cutting through the air toward us. But before it could reach, Kakashi intercepted effortlessly, his own speed and precision unmatched.
"Your opponent is right here, Zabuza," Kakashi said coolly, blocking the attack with ease. His voice was calm, but there was an unmistakable edge to it—a sign that this was about to become a serious fight.
Zabuza's eyes narrowed, and the real battle began. We stayed back as instructed, keeping Tazuna safe, but I couldn't help but feel the excitement building. The clash of these two powerful shinobi was something none of us would forget.
