Transformation into the Marvel Universe

Chapter 225: Reinforcements

In the midst of battle, Doom had a breakthrough, grasping the profound essence of the transformation of nature and human beings and the growth of all things...

To test his new understanding, he wanted to experiment with his "good friend" Mister Reed.

Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards, who could stretch his body and was insulated against electricity, possibly hoped to persuade his old rival and opponent to surrender. This kept him constantly at the forefront of the battle against Doom.

The sudden twist caught him off guard—a whip charged with a trace of black energy, like a long spear, pierced directly through his abdomen. The wound was charred, emitting a faint putrid smell. Despite his efforts to regenerate using his abilities, the effect was minimal, and he was quickly incapacitated.

Mister Fantastic's combat strength was not formidable. He was somewhat like the Batman next door—if prepared, he could take down a god, but if you rush into the enemy when you're not ready, ask for blessings from God.

Susan quickly shielded Reed while Human Torch and The Thing hoped to attack to draw the enemy's attention.

Relying on his newly grasped magical attacks, Doom also managed to send Human Torch flying, then combined his energies with magic in a frenzied bombardment that knocked The Thing to the ground.

His tone was somewhat melancholic, "It's funny, the real power was always by my side, yet I never paid attention to it. Thank you, Susan, for making me realize this."

Doom's gaze turned toward the Invisible Woman, his metal mask obscuring his face, now only his dark eyes visible.

His look was unchanged, viewing Susan with admiration and praise, and an indescribable nuance—was it nostalgia for the past or anticipation for the future? Even he wasn't sure.

"I don't want to hurt you, Susan. Leave this place," Doom raised his right hand, his magic mingling with electricity, aimed at Susan and the painful grimacing Reed Richards behind her.

Just as the Fantastic Four were in dire straits and Daisy was about to enter the fray, a dark figure swept across the sky, the propulsion engines quickly bringing the newcomer to the battlefield.

It was Colonel James Rhodes, War Machine, who was supposed to attend the Hammer Industries exhibition but had come to assist after hearing about the trouble here.

"Sir, please put down your weapons. I am authorized by the Department of Defense to order you to surrender on the spot!" The black Colonel knew that Doom would not surrender, but still followed the protocol.

How could Doom surrender! He responded with a dazzling burst of electric light.

Colonel Rhodes, wanting to demonstrate the armor's capabilities in front of the generals, had practiced for a week. The armor's control system calculated the range of the electrical attack, and he quickly moved to dodge based on the prompts.

After two warnings, Doom's response was still to fight, and Colonel Rhodes had no choice but to engage the armor's combat mode, deploying its numerous weapons.

The first to fire was the Gatling gun. Despite Daisy's criticisms about mounting machine guns on powered armor, the leaders at the Department of Defense and Colonel Rhodes himself liked it.

He loved the roaring sound of the guns; it boosted his adrenaline, sharpened his focus, and quickened his reactions.

Bullets stormed out like a metal tempest, pouring down on Doom like a heavy rain.

Doom's skin and bones had been replaced in large part by an unknown metal, but not entirely; he still had plenty of flesh and blood. Even now, having grasped some magic, he dared not directly catch bullets with his body.

Fortunately, being in the city, there were plenty of objects to provide cover. He rolled aside just before Rhodes opened fire, ducking into a fast-food restaurant, and then used it as cover to engage with Rhodes.

As a military man, Rhodes, unlike superheroes, wasn't overly concerned with collateral damage—destroying a shop or blowing up a building was no big deal.

With a "whoosh," a Hammer Industries "Ex-Wife" missile shot into the fast-food restaurant and exploded a second later.

Capable of destroying bunkers, the small fast-food restaurant was like made of paper, erupting into flames and turning into rubble in the blast.

"Come out!" Rhodes, his hand cannons ready but not firing, couldn't detect any signs of life in the debris through his thermal imaging system. But with Doom's body covered in metal, thermal imaging couldn't reveal his position; the colonel instinctively felt that the opponent hadn't died.

Doom, of course, hadn't died; in fact, he was quite spirited. His metal body had shielded him from much of the blast, and having seen Susan's telekinetic shield, he believed he could do the same. At that moment, he emerged from the debris under a shield mixed with electric and magical power, still targeting Reed Richards.

"Stop right there!" Feeling ignored, the colonel was annoyed. Missile launchers on his shoulders sprang into action, firing six missiles in a left and right array toward Doom.

Unfortunately, whether they were incendiary or armor-piercing, all were blocked by Doom's shield.

Seeing such supernatural events for the first time, the colonel involuntarily paused for a couple of seconds.

Daisy knew she couldn't just watch anymore; Doom had upgraded from version 0.1 to 1.0 in a short time! It seemed he had now mastered some magic? She stepped forward, followed by twenty tall robots, looking quite impressive.

To prove her fairness, she loudly declared, "Victor von Doom, the National Security Agency declared you a terrorist five minutes ago. If you continue to resist, Hammer Industries is authorized to kill you. Surrender now, you have no chance of winning."

Doom wanted to scoff at her ignorance; a few robots to capture him? Didn't she know he had just penetrated a great mystery of the universe?

His sarcastic retort reached his lips but then he held back, his instincts telling him not to underestimate his enemy.

The guy didn't fall for it, Daisy clicked her tongue. Her plan was to provoke Doom into attacking, manipulate the mechanized soldiers to skirmish with him for a bit to show the Department of Defense their combat effectiveness, then throw stun and flash grenades to exploit the chaos, and during the mayhem, use the Disintegration ring to send Doom to meet his mother.

Now that the opponent was being cautious, not rashly charging over but observing, Daisy had to resort to a direct assault.

"Prepare to fire." As her command was given, the barrels of the mechanized soldiers' guns all pointed at Doom.

"Colonel Rhodes, no big deal, we attack together. Energy is conserved; keep up the heavy fire, let's see how long he can last!"

The mechanized soldiers marched forward in unison, their footsteps uniform, causing the ground to thud ominously, as ammunition was loaded. Daisy and Black Widow stood far back, while Doom began to harness his magic and all remaining electric power, ready for the impending clash.

Just then, Daisy felt a vibration in space and turned her head to the left.

"Sss-sss-sss—" Three consecutive light sounds, and three golden lines appeared out of nowhere, like metal being cut by an electric welder, sparks flying, dazzlingly bright.
