Chapter 74: The Touch Part 34
City: IACON
[55 Days After Megatron's Appearance]
In the infamous IACON Library, Chief Archivist Alpha Trion has been very quiet for the past few days, not even leaving his office, only immersing himself in his work to distract his mind from his anguish.
Thanks to his good memory, he was able to record every detail of some historical moment, but this time, this routine, so familiar to him and self-imposed, seemed more boring than anything else, as if it was a useless task after all.
"In the end, nothing worked..." Alpha Trion whispered to himself as he looked at the wall in front of him, his mind going back to the old times with his friends and those he considered his brothers. "In the end, the cycle cannot be broken."
*TOC-TOC-TOC!*
Alpha Trion was brought back to reality when he heard someone knocking on his door, he adjusted his posture in the chair and deactivated the hologram in front of him that he was using to type the inscriptions of the file he was working on. "You can come in."
When he confirmed permission to enter his office, the door opened to reveal a female figure whose true identity was known only to him on Cybertron, and who turned out to be none other than Pulver, the last living Knight and one of the original Decepticons who fought for Cybertron millions of years ago.
"It seems you've lived a more decadent life than I have." She looked at Alpha Trion with some disgust, but suppressed her emotions now that they had to work together.
"What do you mean?"
"You literally had the status of a god, and now you're reduced to a simple librarian." Pulver crossed her arms and looked around, seeing the simple office where Alpha had worked for millions of years, as if it were a prison he had locked himself in, even though he could leave whenever he wanted. "I have a spaceship to transport the weapons and relics, but it has some problems I need to fix before I can put the plan into action."
"Very well... but hurry, we are running out of time." Alpha Trion nodded, fear showing in his old eyes.
Pulver leaned her back against the wall and studied the old Prime closely. She seemed to have doubts in her mind and could not wait any longer to get her answers. "Tell me, if the Allspark is really in danger, why bring the most powerful sword in the universe to such a distant and insignificant planet? I'm sure even you have access to a fraction of the Star Saber's potential to solve the problem."
"Even with Prime status, I'm not in my best physical condition, it would be impossible for me to use the Star Saber as I should." Alpha Trion let out, regret in his voice. "As for your question... I believe the vision I had could be referring to a battle for possession of the Allspark."
Pulver's eyes narrowed, she couldn't help but feel slightly irritated, for she was one of the few who knew how important the Allspark was to the balance of the universe itself, she had even experienced how powerful the artifact was when fully awakened.
"If the Allspark is harmed for any reason, the entire universe is destroyed. It is literally the starting point for the creation of our universe and all life forms." Pulver commented, a little concerned, even more so when she began to suspect why she had to transport the Star Saber to another planet. "Don't tell me the Allspark will no longer inhabit Cybertron."
Alpha Trion looked Pulver straight in the eye, not surprised by her quick deduction. "It is quite possible that circumstances in the future will cause the Allspark to be transported to another planet, and on that planet the future of Cybertron, no, the universe, will be at stake. "
Pulver took a moment to process the information in her mind, feeling a cold sensation in her Spark as she wondered what this really meant for Cybertron. "It means that... without the Allspark to sustain Primus' vitality, our planet will... die..."
Alpha Trion clenched his right hand tightly, knowing that this possibility was very real, as Primus was a planet-sized being that required a gigantic amount of energy to remain active, something that was only possible thanks to the Allspark providing its power.
"The future may be bleak, but if we maintain and ensure the safety of the Allspark, we can be sure that there will be hope in the future."
"That means billions of deaths... just like the war against the Quintessons and War of the Primes." Pulver lowered her head, her resolve weakening with her body. Something she had never felt, not even during Cybertron's two cruelest conflicts. "The cycle repeats itself, like a curse."
"Such fate is unchangeable, but our actions, though forgotten, can be what brings about a new, brighter tomorrow." Alpha Trion was full of determination and hope to help at least a little the Prime that would emerge in the future, but there was still fear in his eyes, fear of failure. This fear was fed by the darkest memory of the day Megatronus fell into darkness.
"Then it's up to us in the end." Pulver approached the door to leave Alpha Trion's office. "As much as I hate you, you're right about one thing, the Allspark is everything, even if we die, the Allspark should at least be the only survivor. Till all are one." She left the room, leaving the last of Cybertron's Primes alone in his office.
"Till all are one," Alpha Trion whispered, remembering the time when he and his brothers had defeated Unicron, when everyone could not help but celebrate for days, when it was almost a miracle that everyone had survived that battle.
