Chapter 83: The Touch Part 43
Cybertron was the scene of the first phase of the war against the Quintessons, in which the entire planet was consumed by flames. Even with the power of the Thirteen Primes, or at least most of them, they could not avoid the side effect.
Previously, the Thirteen Primes had fought and defeated Unicron, and as a result, the battle was brutal and destructive. But unlike then, when they could fight without worrying about the consequences, now the lives of innocent people were in their hands.
Such a burden was too much for the Thirteen Primes alone, so the Knights of Cybertron, the elite force, a clan of warriors prepared and trained by the strongest Primes, were called upon to tilt the balance of the battle in their favor.
With the help of the Titans, Predacons, Knights and Decepticons, the great war on Cybertronian soil was taken to the ends of space. Thus began the greatest period of the war against the Quintessons, during which Cybertronian technology took giant steps in evolution.
At that time, war was raging on several planets in the universe. However, tensions and disputes began to arise among the Primes themselves. The rivalry between Megatronus and Prima became increasingly toxic as the ages passed, with each having their own method of leadership and their own way of ending the war.
The tensions and rivalries between the Primes became more apparent, and the defeats that occurred only intensified the struggles and mental exhaustion of all.
One day, in the final period of the second stage of the war, the Quintessons launched a new weapon capable of stellar destruction. And this same weapon was used on the sun that Cybertron originally orbited.
The sun's explosion engulfed Cybertron, killing millions of Cybertronians and wiping out certain races, such as the Predacons. Had the Allspark not been awakened by the sun's explosion, the war against the Quintessons would have ended in Cybertronian defeat.
However, the explosion had three consequences, two of which had a significant impact on the course of the war, and the third of which would only be revealed at the end of the war.
The first consequence was that Megatronus Prime was seriously injured in the explosion of the sun, which would become known as the Great Cataclysm. Megatronus would remain in a deep coma for a long time, meaning that the leadership of the Decepticons would pass to another Prime.
The Commander and Sub-Commander of the Decepticons, the strongest Knights ever to exist, were against the idea of being led by a Prime other than Megatronus. However, since the Decepticons were the most reliable and important force on the battlefield, they were forced to cooperate and follow Prima's orders.
The second problem that changed the course of the war was that the Quintessons managed to figure out how Cybertron was holding up and generating enough energy to continue its resistance. The explosion of the Sun revealed the Allspark, and it became the Quintessons' top priority to obtain that power. Where countless operations took place to protect it from the relentless and suicidal attacks to obtain this power.
With the safety of the Allspark increasingly at risk, Prima Prime began launching attacks with weapons of mass destruction to destroy every planet inhabited by Quintessons. Even allowing for the extensive use of mystical weapons to obliterate everything in sight against Cybertron.
As the third phase of the war reached its climax in the far reaches of this galaxy's territory, Megatronus, the leader of the Decepticons, finally awoke from his coma.
When he learned how many of his Decepticons had died, and especially how many Cybertronians had died in the destruction of the Great Cataclysm as a result of what he saw as the consequences of Prima Prime's poor decisions, their rivalry intensified to the point where they fought for control of Cybertron.
Prima Prime won a grueling victory over Megatronus Prime, who was still suffering from the effects of the coma on his body. As a result of the duel, Megatronus lost his right to lead the Decepticon Knights, which he had created as punishment.
As the war entered its final stages, one of the Cybertronian colonies built to create weapons and war technology encountered Dark Energon. A significant fragment of Unicron's blood fossilized over millions of years, serving as one of the few remaining proofs of the Chaos God's battle with Primus for the fate of the universe.
Scientists began to study the components of Unicron's blood, but little did they know that the God of Chaos, or at least this fragment of his crystallized power, had been awakened as an individual spirit of that God's will.
As an insignificant part of Unicron's spark, this separate mind could not be felt for miles and light-years as it would be if it were the full presence. Therefore, no Prime, or even Primus himself, could have known that he had returned.
Then, through fighting and disagreement, the Decepticons had the misfortune to encounter Unicron himself. And the one who came to their rescue was none other than Megatronus.
Megatronus and Unicron fought a battle of folkloric proportions. The strength, speed, and endurance were a reflection of a battle between gods.
Megatronus could have won this battle instantly if he had his mystical relic, his spear nicknamed the Requiem Blaster, a weapon with destructive power similar to that of the Star Saber, and even the ability to manipulate gravity and emit pulses of energy similar to a Neutron Star.
Due to the battle between Prima Prime and Megatronus, the Decepticon leader had his trusty weapon confiscated and locked away in a secret vault. As a result, he could only fight Unicron with his natural abilities, such as his ability to adapt and his body's natural weapons, but since his fighting style was preferably hand-to-hand, the result was a brute force fight between the two.
Backed into a corner, Unicron uses his most powerful secret yet, the ability to manipulate the dead and bring them back to life.
Before Megatronus and the other Decepticons arrived to rescue their comrades, Unicron killed every living thing on the planet, using them as a trap to create a frenzy among the Decepticons when they saw their comrades return from the dead as berserker monsters.
The chaos was enough for Megatronus to let his guard down for a single moment, a single second that would cost him dearly. Unicron infected his spark, intending to possess Megatronus' body and use it as a weapon.
What Unicron underestimated was the innate ability Megatronus possessed from birth, the ability to adapt to anything, and as a result, the Dark Energon fused with the Pure Energon Megatronus possessed thanks to the Allspark.
After a few minutes, Megatronus was able to activate the same powers as Unicron and was able to destroy this fragment of the Chaos God's consciousness.
After this battle, Megatronus remained in a coma and under observation for weeks. The Energon within him became something entirely new, a mysterious chemical reaction that gave Megatronus undeniable abilities that have yet to be unraveled.
Tensions among the Decepticons grew even more alarming after this incident with Prima Prime and the other Primes. They blamed the poor leadership of Prima and the other Primes for the deaths of their comrades and the decaying state of their master.
On a dark night on Cybertron, Megatronus awoke differently, with a different gaze and a new purpose in his mind. He had access to Unicron's memory and its secrets.
During the war, Megatronus Prime saw many people die, hundreds of cities destroyed, his planet consumed by flames. He kept his dark thoughts hidden in his Spark for a long time, still hoping to end the war as soon as possible, but that's not what really happened.
By infecting Megatronus, Unicron only awakened feelings of remorse, anger and disappointment that he had tried to suppress. The moment Megatronus opened his eyes, he decided to enforce his own sense of justice that he had known, created and developed. And he knew that war was necessary to achieve his goal, the peace he saw.
Killing Solus Prime before she could defend herself, Megatronus led the rest of his Decepticons to war against the Primes, giving his Commander and Sub-Commander the most important mission of all: to retrieve the Allspark and deliver it to him.
In his march to war, Liege Maximo was incredibly the first to confront him, using his powers of illusion to buy time. But his powers no longer work against Megatronus as they once did, and he is brutally killed shortly thereafter.
Those who challenged Megatronus' rebellion were Prima Prime, Onyx Prime, Micronus Prime, and Nexus Prime. These four Primes fought as one to defeat him, but to their surprise, even without his relic, Megatronus was able to challenge them as equals with little effort.
With the power necessary to impose himself on the world, Megatronus was willing to go to the ultimate lengths, and he proved this by killing Onyx Prime in a cruel manner, decapitating him with brute force even though he was in Predacon form.
However, this was not the only great battle that took place, as the Decepticons killed all non-Decepticon Knights, creating chaos in the cities despite their small numbers.
The most important battle, however, took place at the Allspark Temple, where the Decepticon Commander and Sub-Commander fought alone against not only the Knights and Guardians of the Allspark, but against none other than Quintus Prime, Alchemist Prime, and Zeta Prime.
The second-in-command of the Decepticons is a woman of speed and endurance, resilient enough to be on the level of a low-level Prime. This gave her the ability to fight Primes who did not excel in raw power, but she still could not defeat a Prime directly, at least not fairly.
Unlike the Decepticon Commander, considered Megatronus' right-hand man, who had such high physical stats that he could be mistaken for a Prime, earning him the title of Shadow Prime or False Prime. He was so powerful that he not only reached the level of a Prime, but was so strong that he was one of the few who could easily exchange blows with Predacons, being on the same power level as the Predaking, the Predacon is below the power level of Onyx Prime.
Both were already relatively powerful, but when they used external factors to increase their powers, they were able to defeat the three Primes simultaneously, one of whom, Zeta Prime, was killed while protecting the Allspark.
With the battle tipping in favor of the Decepticons, the tide had completely turned. And to defeat Megatronus Prime, who was virtually invincible at this point, it was necessary to use the greatest power available, the Omega Lock.
The Omega Lock is an artifact that allows temporary access to the powers of Primus, and with that power, Megatronus was banished to an inaccessible dimension. While his followers, the Decepticons, were forced to flee to the ends of the cosmos when they realized their leader had been defeated, they were all condemned to oblivion, their names erased from history.
Alpha Trion told the whole story to his student, Orion Pax, who listened in silence, his eyes the only indicator of his emotions.
Orion noted that Alpha Trion didn't tell some details of the story, like deeper information that would have given more context, it was a big summary of everything, but it was still impressive.
But one thing was for sure, even if Alpha Trion was being as honest as possible, it was obvious that a part of him did not hate what Megatronus had done, in fact it was as if he wondered why he had survived that day.
"The blame for everything that happened... the Quintessons' war or Megatronus' corruption, everything could have been avoided. The arrogance of the Primes was the downfall of Cybertron in the past." Alpha Trion admitted, closing his eyes and clasping his hands so tightly that the creaking of his old joints could be heard.
