Transmigrated to Mushoku Tensei as Mordred Pendragon (fanfic x Fate)

Chapter 2: Chapter 2. Meeting Dead End

Isaac silently observed the skinny gray wolves that began to surround him.

Because of his strength, he felt assured and was fairly calm.

Even so, he was not used to fighting hordes of monsters by relying on his body at all, so he still felt slightly anxious as he observed the wolves.

When it came to his Magecraft, rather than boosting his body with Mana Reinforcement or sending out beam attacks, he relied on tricks. Meanwhile, during the Grail War he relied on Mordred when it came to fighting. He himself was a schemer.

Right now it would be the first time that he would do something as crazy as fighting a pack of overgrown monster wolves with a sword.

'Despite all this strength, I'll need to get used to fighting…'

Suddenly, Isaac had an idea.

Rather than fighting this group of wolves, he thought of trying something else.

Relying on his EX-ranked Riding skills, he reached out toward the beasts with his mind.

As his Magical Energy stirred in the atmosphere and touched the wolves, Isaac attempted to bend the wild beasts to his will.

'Serve me! I am now your master!'

In the next moment, the pack of wolves ran up to Isaac.

"Hoof! Hoof!"

"Yip! Yip!"

The previously vicious beasts instantly began to yip and bark with their mugs smiling. They wagged their tails and happily looked at Isaac as if asking for head pats.

Isaac looked on in astonishment.

Following that, he gave his pack a few orders to test what he could do.

He made them circle around him, then create a line and sit down in front of him.

The wolves followed all instructions without a flaw.

'That's pretty amazing.'

Isaac was satisfied.

The Riding skill was primarily used for riding mounts, but it was the equivalent of a beast-taming skill.

Especially at EX-rank, there seemed to be no problem in allowing him to control creatures at least of that grade.

However, at that moment Isaac also felt disappointed.

He planned to test his abilities on these beasts, but as they began to wag their tails around him and act as his beloved pets, he no longer wanted to slaughter and use his new loyal companions as guinea pigs.

In addition, if he did kill a few in front of their eyes, it might affect the others.

For the time being, Isaac ignored the pack. He gave them an order to wait in place, turned away from them and faced the empty space instead.

He wanted to get at least an approximate understanding of how strong he was.

To test himself in practice, he took Clarent into both hands, took up a striking stance and then quickly slashed out in front of him using his full speed and strength.

"Ha!"

Boom!

There was the loud sound of an explosion as the sword cut through the air in an instant, causing a small amount of wind to shake the dust off the ground in front of him.

Isaac ignored the wolves weeping in a panic at the explosion and thought, 'That explosion was a sonic boom, right?'

In other words, his sword strike surpassed the speed of sound or the speed of a bullet.

There was no significant shockwave that followed and caused a huge gush in the ground like in some anime, but given the small surface area of his sword's edge, he found it only natural. He had also not used any magical energy in his attack, just his physical strength.

The speed and power that he experienced already felt very superhuman and quite satisfactory.

'If I want it to be stronger then…'

Following that, Isaac tried using one of the skills he knew.

He put his sword into his left hand and balled his right into a fist.

'Mana Burst!'

As he called out inwardly to use his [Mana Burst A+], white-crimson lightning currents began to dance around his arm, crackling.

He then sent out a lightning-fast punch with enhanced speed and power, using both Mana Burst and the full extent of his strength.

Bam!

Isaac's first struck the air, causing a far larger blast of air than before.

'This feels great!'

Feeling power filled him from the inside, Isaac activated Mana Burst over his entire body, and crimson lightning began to crackle all over, raising his body's stats to another level!

With this boost, he suddenly kicked off the ground.

A crimson explosion propelled him forward at an inhuman speed like a jet boost, making him instantly accelerate.

Isaac broke into a sprint to test his speed and covered a huge distance in just a moment.

Then he used Mana Burst again to hit the brakes and suddenly stopped.

Looking back at where he came from, he seemed to have covered a distance of a few hundred meters within just around a single second!

However, perhaps because of the Magical Energy, there was no shockwave that followed him.

Straightening himself up, Isaac let out a sigh of amazement.

Apart from the fact that his body had greatly superhuman stats, even the way how to use his skills, move and to fight was already a part of him - these were all Mordred's fighting experiences and memories from life as a knight.

Even the way to swing a sword was already engraved deeply in his mind!

'It's like in the rumored Ainsworth Holy Grail War. After you install a Servant Card into your body, you gain all their stats and abilities, including the knowledge of how to fight as that Servant!' Isaac thought to himself.

Isaac used Mana Burst again and akin to a red lightning bolt returned to his pack of wolves in just a moment.

He then thought about what he should do next.

After making up his mind, he spread out his awareness in all directions using the [Instinct EX] skill and ended up choosing a direction to go in based on his intuition.

It was at that moment that he detected something very peculiar.

He hesitated for just a moment, then decided to go there and check it out with his pack. Whether it was the Instinct skill or his Luck stat, he decided to rely on that.

He felt a strange pull toward that place, feeling that he really should go there or he would regret it. It was as if there was a line of fate that guided him there.

He began to jog at a slow pace, allowing the wolves to keep up with him.

He crossed over plains and mounds, and at one point bumped into another pack of wolves of the same race as in the pack.

That pack numbered 15.

For the time being, Isaac easily subdued those wolves as well.

He then looked at his pack of exactly 28 wolves, thinking, 'I reflexively subdued those wolves, but I could move much quicker and attract less attention if I instead cut them down and moved alone. Should I do that? I could try to send them out in various directions to scout ahead, but I think just my Instinct alone is enough for that…'

Isaac pondered about that and then spread out his awareness again.

It was at that moment that he detected a presence.

Unlike before, this time that presence felt different.

'A human?...'

Isaac ignored the matter with the wolves and began to approach what felt like a small canyon where he felt a person's presence.

'The EX Ranked Instinct skill, if I concentrate enough it's basically like a Mana Sense… I wonder what kind of people live in this world,' Isaac's heart thought.

Soon enough, Isaac approached the entrance of the canyon with his pack of over two dozen wolves following him.

When Isaac appeared at the destined place, he was met with a man in tribal clothing holding a bone-white trident.

The man stood in front of the entrance to the canyon as if to meet him. He had a rather slender but strong body, short green hair, a red gem on his forehead and a scared face.

At first the man looked at his wolves coldly, before his expression transformed into one of surprise as he began to stare at Isaac himself.

Despite being surprised, the man didn't move and seemingly guarded the entrance to the cave.

The two silently observed each other for a while without saying a word.

Isaac thought, watching the man expressionlessly. Green hair, tribal clothing, a red gem on the forehead and white spear with three heads… This distinctive look, together with the entire semi-desert environment made Isaac think of someone.

Ruijerd of Dead End.

'Could it be… The Demon Continent from Jobless Reincarnation? And this man should be Rui… Ruijerd or something,' Isaac thought just for a moment, then clearly recalled what he focused on as if his memory was also enhanced.

Isaac looked at the man with surprise.

In the meantime, the pack of gray wolves remained in place while growling and backing up Isaac, adding even more grandeur to his presence.

"Grrrrr."

"Ghhhhh."

Looking at the wild beasts acting as tamed and obedient dogs, the man also looked at them in surprise.

This stalemate continued for a moment, before the man broke it, saying something, [Why are you here? Are you searching for the human children that fell from the sky?]

Isaac slightly raised his eyebrows. In regards to what the green-haired man said, it all sounded to him like intelligible gibberish.

"I'm sorry, but I don't understand your words," Isaac replied calmly.

The other man remained alert, but Isaac felt no hostility or threat, and lowered his sword, signalling his wolves to also take a non-hostile approach.

The man said again, [What language is this? Do you not understand the Human Language?... Then what about the Demon God Language?]

"..." Isaac remained silent and expressionlessly eyed the green-haired man.

The latter continued speaking. [Then do you know the Beast God Language?... The Fighting God Language…]

The man continued seemingly switching between different languages and accents without giving up, but Isaac still couldn't understand a word.

"Sorry, but I really don't get it," Isaac replied.

The man stared at Isaac with a confused expression.

Seeing all this, Isaac let out a sigh of annoyance. 'Sigh, I can't even speak this world's language. That's so troublesome…'

Rather than being summoned by that world's Holy Grail Servant Summoning Ritual, he was thrown into that world with his body that he received prior to this. As a result, he naturally didn't receive any knowledge of that world or the knowledge of the language used. Who knows if even something like this was possible; after all, this wasn't Earth.

Thinking of having to learn a completely new language with no reference at all, Isaac wanted to let out a groan. 'What a bother.'

After a moment's silence, Isaac touched his own chest and calmly introduced himself, "Isaac. My name is Isaac…"

"Isaac?" The green-haired man parroted. Curiously looking at Isaac, he then slowly touched his own chest and said, "Ruijerd Superdia."

"... Ruijerd," Isaac slowly repeated that word, feeling emotions fill his heart.

Did the Holy Grail send him to the world of Mushoku Tensei where he's supposed to be allowed to become stronger?

Isaac felt somewhat doubtful when thinking about that. After all, the top existences of that world shouldn't be above the level of a Servant.

'Either way, it should be a better place than Earth… I might even be able to use some of my metaknowledge rather than move about blindly.'

The matter of fact he was now in the world where he met someone who resembled a character from the fantasy work he knew, so he had to adapt and make the most out of it.

While Isaac was thinking this, the two men studied each other in silence again.

Ruijerd then slightly stepped out of the way and pointed his hand toward the canyon, seemingly inviting Isaac in. "#### ##### ######."

The man also said something, but Isaac didn't understand a word.

Even still, he understood the intentions.

Without hesitating, Isaac took a few slow steps forward, then glanced back at his pack of wolves and inwardly ordered them to stay outside and guard the entrance.

"Hoof, hoof!"

"Hoof!"

At this command, the wolves replied with barks as if in acknowledgement. They spread and turned around as if to watch out for threats.

The man called Ruijerd watched this scene with a mildly amazed expression as he stayed silent.

Isaac looked at him. To show Ruijerd that he doesn't have intentions of fighting, he stretched out his hand and inwardly called out to store his weapon.

As a result, his word Clarent was surrounded in a red light and then disappeared, seemingly disintegrating with the wind.

[What kind of Magic was that?!] Ruijerd stared at this scene in shock.

Isaac looked at him calmly, slightly bowed his head and slowly continued into the canyon.

Ruijerd's face returned to being expressionless as he turned around and guided him inside.
