Transmigrating as an Extra Third-Rate Villain

Chapter 306:The Underground [1]

Reaching the gap, Ruby dusted the dirt off her clothes before staring at my figure.

With a wide smile, she nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders before saying.

"Impressed?"

Nodding my head, I turned around to face the underground space before muttering.

"More like scared..."

I had been throwing my daggers since I had first gotten them from the academy, and she still had way better accuracy and power than me!

Crouching down, I picked up some of the magical artifacts before walking through the gap with Ruby shortly following behind me.

After a couple of trips back and forth between the gaps, the magical artifacts had been successfully transported out of the vault and into the underground space.

Whether that was a good or bad idea remained unknown.

Turning around, Ruby was about to head back through the gap and into the vault to transfer more artifacts.

Stopping her mid-crouch, I walked forward into the underground space before saying.

"When you were fighting the djinns with Liam and em, did you notice anything was off?"

Hesitating for a moment, Ruby seemed to think before replying.

"Their fighting in itself wasn't weird...and their terrible coordination and teamwork were too expected, considering they are djinns."

Pausing mid-sentence, Ruby turned around and stared at the remnants of her battle with the djinns before continuing.

"But...after a while, I did notice something wrong."

"We killed hundreds upon hundreds of them...yet they still continued coming. I know this may sound stupid, but I think even djinns have some sort of brian or intelligence."

"Shouldn't they have noticed that simply flooding us was going to lead to their inevitable death?"

Nodding my head, I recalled how I had noticed earlier that the djinns had no regard for their lives as they continued rushing at the main cast's makeshift fortress.

Something was off with those djinns.

If they were normal, after the first few waves of them perished to the main cast, the rest should have stopped and tried to escape.

After seeing their teammates die ruthlessly, they would usually run away and attempt to save their own lives.

It was almost as if...they were being controlled or forced to rush at us.

But...who could possibly control djinns, a group of people known for their untrustworthiness, chaos, and uncontrollable behavior?

Walking to the edge of the obsidian door, I stared downward at the ice walls that Alya had made before replying.

"The voice...he was controlling those djinns somehow. That's the only connection that I can think of."

Though I knew saying it out loud was stupid, as it was possible he was listening in on us, I didn't think it mattered whether he knew that we knew he was the djinn's controller.

Perhaps, coming to the same conclusion as me, Ruby clearly wasn't afraid to voice her thoughts out loud as she responded.

"It would make sense...but what was his goal? What did he gain from controlling the djinns? In the end, we killed them all, so he just lost an entire army of djinns for nothing."

"He didn't even do anything during the fight with the djinns...you were the one who broke into the vault and created the gap, right? The owner of the voice and controller of the djinns just stood still...and watched."

Shaking my head, I sighed and looked up at the ceiling, where the crater from my purple orb was located.

Whenever I thought about the voice and its dangers, it always boiled down to one question.

What was his end goal?

His erratic and unpredictable behavior simply made it impossible for me to identify his aim.

It was almost like...he didn't have any goal or something he wanted to achieve.

Agreeing with Ruby's words, I began walking down the obsidian door before saying.

"What if he's truly gone crazy...like one of those dream-losers."

There were two ways to become a djinn.

Sign a contract with a devil by somehow finding out.

Or...trying a dream to advance your rank but failing.

The more dangerous of the two were the dream-losers.

After all, they had already truly died once in their dream, so why would they be afraid of death in the real world?

What if the owner of the voice was one of them?

What if he was simply toying around with us, like the producers of a game show and their contestants?

Thinking about my words, Ruby halted for a second before responding.

"It's possible but unlikely. How would he be able to come up with a plan like this? Most dream-losers would simply bum-rush in and kill every single one of us or capture and torture us."

From the controlling of the djinns to the ability to project his voice in the vault and see everything that was happening, it was clear that this plan was well-though out and very well-prepared.

A normal dream-loser djinn wouldn't care for a sophisticated plan like this, as Ruby had said.d

Seeing Ruby hesitate to leave the gap by the obsidian door, I simply manifested two more corrupted figures.

Nodding my head, I sent them through the gap and into the vault, ordering them to do exactly what Ruby and I were supposed to do.

Stepping aside and watching the corrupted figures crouch-walk through the gap, Ruby changed the topic and hesitantly said.

"Won't they...you know, notice it's not us."

Since I wanted to conserve corruption for the fight, I had just made the most basic corrupted figure with no care for cloning someone.

They looked nothing like Ruby and I, or anyone from the main cast and two recruiters.

Crossing my fingers, I responded to Ruby's concerns.

"As long as the job is getting done and the artifacts are getting transferred, I doubt they'll notice."

"Also..."

Pausing mid-sentence, I walked up right next to Ruby, who stared at me confusedly.

"Wait for it."

Smiling, I immediately swapped bodies with one of the corrupted figures, allowing my actual body to fall onto the obsidian door.
