Chapter 397: Chapter 397: I Solemnly Swear I Didn't Slack Off
Boom!
A 300-kilogram doll body plummeted from the sky, crashing directly onto the theater's roof.
Already weakened by age and further damaged by the hail of bullets, the fragile top of the theater was punctured by UMP9, leaving behind a huge hole!
"Careful! Move back!"
M4A1 who was inside the theater preparing to assess Intruder's situation was startled by this unexpected collapse overhead and quickly halted everyone's movements.
Bang!
"Ouch! My feet are numb! Um... could someone lend me a hand and pull me out?"
Not only did UMP9 smash through the roof, but she also crashed through the stage, leaving only her head still above the stage.
After UMP9 jumped down, Renault looked at UMP45 with some curiosity. "Why are you so proactive? What's on your mind?"
"Of course not. I'm just diligently serving the boss as employees should," UMP45 replied with a smile, but her narrowed eyes hinted at she was doing some calculations.
"Commander, won't the Griffin dolls below recognize our aircraft?"
Between their conversation, UMP40 also expressed concern while looking at the Griffin dolls below, many of whom were already raising their guns and aiming in their direction.
"No need to worry. Even if they don't recognize it, they can't penetrate its armor," Renault replied nonchalantly, glancing at the weapons in the hands of those dolls.
AK12 and AN94's faces darkened.
What if they couldn't be recognized? What would happen to them?
They were planning to ask Renault if they could go down from the aircraft here, as there were new tasks waiting for them...
"Um, Commander Renault, can you let us down now? We have tasks to attend to..."
"Hmm? Leaving already? Do MDR and RFB still need to help?" Renault looked somewhat surprised at AK12 and AN94, then glanced at MDR and RFB who appeared idle.
These two didn't even have a speck of dust on their clothes; if it weren't for the mud on their shoes, it would be hard to tell they had just returned from a mission.
It seemed their previous mission didn't involve much combat, as there was no smell of gunpowder on them.
"Probably not needed. The previous mission went smoothly, and there weren't many Sangvis Ferri units, so it's unnecessary for now," AK12 replied, eyeing MDR and RFB, who were still playing games on their phones, and decisively rejecting Renault.
These two had been tagging along the whole time, neither scouting nor providing cover. Luckily, they didn't encounter many Sangvis Ferri units along the way, and the few they did encounter were swiftly dealt with by AK12 and AN94.
It seems that Renault's two dolls were just there to pass the time.
"If that's the case, SPAS-12, lower the altitude." Since AK12 had spoken, Renault didn't need to say anything more.
The aircraft surrounded by Griffin dolls descended, and when it was about ten meters above the ground, AK12 and AN94 leaped out gracefully.
Before they descended, they activated cognitive recognition interference. The Griffin dolls below acted as if they didn't see the two obvious figures and ignored them completely.
Although all of Griffin's tactical dolls had been modified, their foundation was still civilian models, making them easy targets for military-grade models like AK12.
As they watched the two figures disappear into the crowd of Griffin dolls, Renault turned to MDR and asked, "Did you two do anything during the mission?"
"Not really. There wasn't any combat, just chased away a few Sangvis Ferri units that came too close. Since there were no elite Sangvis Ferri units commanding, it was easy to handle," MDR replied dismissively, not bothered by the tasks assigned to them.
"Yeah, pretty much," RFB agreed.
Hearing their responses, Renault looked at them strangely. "So, how many Sangvis Ferri units did you two chase away?"
At this question, MDR raised her head, scratched it, and estimated, feeling unsure, "Probably over two thousand? RFB, how many did you deal with?"
"Not many, only five hundred and seven. I remember that number," RFB replied sensitively.
Unlike MDR, RFB was very conscious of the Sangvis Ferri's numbers and immediately gave the precise count.
"Ahem, anyway, it's a considerable number, probably around two thousand in total. Let's not dwell on these details. We're working diligently and definitely not slacking off!"
Even if there was some slacking off, it was within limits!
As long as there were no Sangvis Ferri units nearby, it was normal not to assist in gathering intelligence, right?
Besides, that was AK12 and AN94's job in the first place.
MDR spoke with conviction, but in her heart, she added a self-reassuring remark.
"Why hasn't UMP9 come out yet? It's been almost five minutes!"
Looking down from the cabin door, UMP40 couldn't help but express her worry.
"It should be fine. We haven't heard any gunfire."
No gunfire meant no fighting, and even if there was a fight... there would have been some commotion at least.
With UMP9's current body, if she really fought with someone, the commotion would be as loud as when she smashed through the roof just now.
UMP9, who was being worried about by UMP40, was currently not fighting with the Griffin dolls.
However, she was in a similar situation... she was currently grappling with SOP2 for control over Intruder.
"No! That eyeball is mine! Half of the brain is mine too!"
"Fat chance! I won't even give you a tooth!"
"Ahh! Why don't you just kill me already!?"
Held by the two, Intruder was being pulled back and forth like a ragdoll.
This absurd scene humiliated Intruder. If her self-destruct device hadn't been smashed, she would have taken these two non-conforming bastards down with her on the spot!
"You two! Stop fighting and make her reveal M16's whereabouts!"
AR15 was also furious. They had won the battle, and continuing to squabble would only result in gaining nothing!
