Volume 3 Chapter 28 / Chapter 194: Jiujiu, You Are My Brain
Creak
The Shadowmoon Sword Pavilion’s door opened from the inside.
Yun Yiyi and Yun Jiujiu, who were still staring at each other at the entrance, turned their heads quickly.
Seeing Ye Anping come out, Yun Yiyi hurriedly picked up the tea brewed by the disciples of Yishui Peak and greeted him:
“Young Master Ye, this is the Shadowmoon Sword Sect’s Qingbai Tea, known for its calming and soothing effects. You’ve been inside for so long, have a sip to relax.”
Ye Anping politely removed his face mask and blood-stained gloves, took the cup, and sipped the tea.
Indeed, the sweet aftertaste of the tea overpowered the previous overwhelming smell of blood, significantly calming him.
“Thank you, Miss Yun.”
“It’s no trouble to serve my husband tea.”
The two exchanged affectionate glances, practically glowing, which made Yun Jiujiu, standing nearby, look on with disgust and a hint of annoyance.
Noticing Feng Yudie also come out, Yun Jiujiu realized she hadn’t prepared any Qingbai Tea.
She grabbed the jade gourd hanging from her waist, walked up to Feng Yudie, and shoved it into her mouth.
“Huh?”
Before Feng Yudie could react, Yun Jiujiu was shaking the gourd, pouring the contents into her mouth.
“Here! I’ve got something to calm and soothe you too. It’s twenty-year-old fine wine! I usually don’t even let myself drink it.”
Gulp, gulp, gulp
The strong, spicy wine burned its way down her throat, making Feng Yudie’s eyes roll back as it even flowed out of her nostrils.
She managed to push Yun Jiujiu away to catch her breath.
“Cough, cough—” Feng Yudie wiped her nose and mouth, cursing, “Are you trying to kill me?!”
“Huh…” Yun Jiujiu looked stunned, “Can’t handle it?”
Yun Yiyi, unable to stand it any longer, sighed and gestured for the Yishui Peak disciples to bring a cup of tea to Feng Yudie.
“Mr. Feng, have a cup of tea to calm yourself.”
Yun Jiujiu immediately glared: “Who wants your lousy tea? Right, Feng Yu?”
As Yun Jiujiu was about to knock the cup away, Feng Yudie quickly protected it, gulped it down, and hiccupped:
“Thank you, Miss Yun, you saved me…”
“You’re welcome.”
Yun Yiyi smiled and nodded, glancing at her second sister, who was now biting her lip in embarrassment.
Feeling slightly satisfied, she decided to push her advantage:
“Mr. Feng, if you are following my second sister for spirit stones, why not come to Yishui Peak? Whatever she pays you, I’ll double it.”
Hearing the offer of double the pay, Feng Yudie’s eyes lit up, but Yun Jiujiu grabbed her wrist.
Yun Jiujiu shielded Feng Yudie behind her and glared at Yun Yiyi:
“Damn it, Yun Yiyi! Do you believe I won’t beat you up right here?”
“And what if you do? Second Sister, Mr. Feng sounds like he’s from the Western Regions and must be here to make a living. Why not let him decide whether to stay on your Jiuquan Peak or come to my Yishui Peak?”
“You—”
As they bickered, Feng Yudie noticed Ye Anping giving her a meaningful look.
She thought for a moment, then interrupted:
“Thank you for your kindness, Miss Yun, but I promised the Second Miss before, so I must refuse.”
Hearing this, Yun Jiujiu’s worried expression instantly relaxed.
She was genuinely afraid that “Feng Yu” would be poached by her sister.
She patted Feng Yudie’s back and laughed:
“Ha! Brother Yu smart and knows who’s better.”
Yun Yiyi forced a smile and tried to gracefully retreat:
“If Mr. Feng feels differently in the future, Yishui Peak is always open to you…”
“He won’t go!” Yun Jiujiu kicked aside the retreat, “He’s mine! Hmph!”
“…”
Watching the sisters quarrel, Ye Anping sighed, stepped forward, and redirected the conversation:
“Let’s discuss the case. This murder case is suspicious. The twenty-seven people were likely moved here after death, and the scene was deliberately staged. There seems to be more than one culprit.”
Yun Yiyi lowered her eyes, pondering:
“Deliberately? So, there’s a group acting secretly, not just to kill the inner disciples but to take something from them?”
“Yes, but I don’t know what.”
“If that’s the case…”
Yun Yiyi thought for a moment and then prepared to instruct the disciples of Yishui Peak to handle the matter.
However, just as she was about to speak at the bottom of the Shadowmoon Sword Pavilion steps, Yun Jiujiu stomped loudly on the stone tiles and shouted with great momentum: “I object!”
Yun Yiyi frowned and looked at her, raising an eyebrow as if to say: Go ahead.
Yun Jiujiu glanced at Feng Yudie beside her and said, “So whatever this little lady next to you says goes, huh? My Yudie hasn’t even spoken yet!”
?
Feng Yudie looked at her in confusion, her eyes full of bewilderment: What should I say?
“Brother Yu! Tell us what you think about this case.”
Feng Yudie hesitated for a moment, then cupped her hands and said: “I think the same as Young Master Ye.”
“Ah…” Yun Jiujiu was stunned, instantly embarrassed, her toes curling, and she pouted, “You think so too, Brother Yu? Well, then… it must be like that.”
Yun Yiyi rolled her eyes at her sister, exasperated, and called up five Yishui Peak disciples from the steps, raising her voice to command: “You five, go to the registry and find out the names of these twenty-seven people, then interview those closest to them. Ask—”
She paused, looking at Ye Anping for confirmation.
Ye Anping understood, leaned in to whisper in her ear, “The time of death is mostly within the last five days.”
Yun Yiyi nodded and continued, “Ask about their movements in the past five days, where they went, who they saw. You have two days.”
“Yes…”
“And…” Yun Yiyi paused, glancing up at the golden plaque of the ‘Wutian Shadowmoon Sword Pavilion,’ and asked, “Where is Pavilion Master Xue of Wutian Shadowmoon Sword Pavilion?”
“Miss, we haven’t found Pavilion Master Xue yet. We asked the surrounding shops, and they said no one has seen him since yesterday afternoon.”
“Arrange for someone to find him immediately and bring him to me today. Now, who discovered the scene?”
“The alchemy shop owner across the street.”
“Lead us there.”
Yun Yiyi nodded and then, along with Ye Anping, descended the steps and headed towards the alchemy shop opposite the Shadowmoon Sword Pavilion.
Watching the two leave, Yun Jiujiu took a deep breath and then grabbed Feng Yudie’s wrist, asking: “Brother Yu, they’ve left. Where should we go?”
“Hmm?” Feng Yudie tilted her head, “Let’s follow them.”
Yun Jiujiu puffed out her cheeks.
Though not the sharpest, she knew that following Yun Yiyi meant she would always be one step behind.
“Don’t you have a quicker way to find the culprits?”
“…”
Yun Jiujiu straightened up, puffed out her chest, and patted it.
Thump, thump
“The people of Jiuquan Peak listen to me, and I listen to you! You can order me around however you like! Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it! Anything!”
“The market is on lockdown now. I think the culprits might still be hiding there. How about we search the market?”
“Okay! As you say!”
With a grin, Yun Jiujiu grabbed Feng Yudie’s wrist and dashed down the steps, sprinting towards the street.
