Chapter 20: Chapter Title: A Father's Fury, A Son's Fortune
*Kai sat in his room, carefully counting the stacks of money he had earned from his latest novel. His pen name, "Jai," was becoming surprisingly popular among readers seeking scandalous yet captivating tales. He couldn't help but smirk at the irony. Who would suspect a boy of barely thirteen to write such provocative stories?
But his moment of triumph was short-lived. The sound of heavy footsteps echoed in the hallway. His father, Saruto, had finally returned from the clan meeting. The door swung open with a bang.
"Kai!" Saruto's voice boomed. "What is this nonsense I'm hearing about you selling *those kinds* of books?"
Kai's smirk faltered, replaced by a sheepish grin. "It's...uh, a side hustle?"
Saruto's eyes narrowed, veins bulging on his forehead. "A side hustle? Do you realize how you've tarnished our family name? People are calling me the father of some... some *perverted writer*!"
Kai flinched as his father's fist slammed onto the desk, scattering his carefully stacked earnings. Before he could defend himself, Saruto grabbed him by the collar and shook him.
"You think this is funny? Bringing shame to the Uchiha clan during wartime?"
But Kai, despite the fear prickling at the back of his mind, held his ground. "It's not shameful, Father! I've earned more money than most adults in the village. And I've been reinvesting it in something meaningful—the film industry! This could secure our family's future."
Saruto paused, his grip loosening. "The *film industry*? Are you telling me you've been using this... filth money for something productive?"
Kai nodded quickly. "I've already commissioned a small studio to make films. Once the war ends, people will want stories—escapism. And I'll be ready to deliver."
Saruto let go, rubbing his temples as he paced the room. "Kai... You're brilliant, but reckless. This obsession with your schemes will be your undoing. And these books..." He sighed heavily. "You're lucky your mother isn't alive to see this."
The mention of his mother sent a pang through Kai's chest. He clenched his fists, his Sharingan flaring momentarily before he suppressed it.
"I'm doing this for her too," Kai said softly. "I want to make sure we never struggle again. That the clan prospers."
Saruto glanced at the scattered money on the floor. "If you're serious about this, you'll have to prove it. No more hiding behind that pen name. You'll need to build something real—and honorable. Otherwise, I'll burn every last coin you've earned."
Kai met his father's stern gaze, determination burning in his eyes. "I will prove it. Just watch me."
