*Inside the Salon*
"Hah, that kid proposed to an old woman like me," Miyako smiled while looking in the mirror, slapping both hands to her face to compose herself. "Shii, I need to finish my work. But still I can't recall any image of him. I feel sad for him now." She sighed, unable to remember Aki even though he said he went to the same school as her son. "I'll ask Sho-kun when I return home."
*At the Train Station*
As Aki and Noriko walked together, they reached the train station.
"Then I will be going," Noriko said.
"Ok, bye. But receive my call from time to time, and I'll visit you someday. After all, we became friends, right?" Aki smiled while handing her a bag with the dress he bought for her.
Seeing Aki's hand stretching towards her, Noriko wanted to refuse, but she accepted it after all they had argued about this beforehand.
"Be sure to call me," she said as she went away.
"Sigh, I should also go back," Aki murmured, looking up at the sky. It going to rain heavily.
He took out his phone and looked at the new contacts of Komi and Noriko, smiling and shaking his head off he dialed a driver to pick him up.
*At Home*
In his house, Aki wrote his novels for "Demon Slayer" volumes and "Violet Evergarden" endings.
"Hmm, 'Violet Evergarden' will be over by tomorrow and 'Demon Slayer' will be by the end of this week." Aki murmured as he uploaded his new chapter with a click.
After uploading everything, he looked at the items he bought, which were laying on his bed.
"Sigh, am I going to clean this all?" Aki sighed. "I told Rin to come after the day Misaki arrives." He was living alone, sometimes he will have dinner with the Kamiyas but he refused their invitation to always eat together "there—maybe 2 or 3 times a week. And it's going to be less after Misaki and Rin arrive. Will Kamiya-san be jealous?" Thinking about it aki smile.
*Thunderstorm*
*Buzzzzzz*
"Was that lightning?" Aki stood up and looked outside the window. The sky was dark as it was nighttime, but anyone could tell rain was coming as lightning kept cracking.
*Takk*
"Now the lights?" Aki sighed as the power went out. He searched for his cellphone to check the sockets, but the second he touched his phone, he remembered someone. He hurriedly searched her number and dialed on it.
*Ring* ring*
"This is not the same scene as the anime where the typhoon came before she went to school. I have a chance!
That's scene hasn't happened yet. I can know it, why?
From the day the school started, there was no typhoon during daytime."
*Chkk*
"Yes..." Aki could hear her trembling voice from the other side.
"Ah, thank goodness you answered my call. Are you okay, Komi-san?" Aki was glad that she picked his call instead of assuming him as a weirdo.
"I am fine..."
She isn't fine, Aki thought, smiling at her attempt to sound brave.
"Electici...ty i..a gone..."
"Same here, my lights also went off too."
*Buzzz*
*Hiii*
"Komi-san? Are you scared of thunder?" Aki asked as he heard Komi's meek voice along with thunder sounds.
"..i.i.i. Shijo-kun, can we... talk a little longer?" Komi's voice came from the other side.
"...I don't mind if it will help you," Aki responded.
"Thank you," she said, relief in her voice.
In the Komi Household
Buzzz "Hii!" Komi yelped.
"Ara, Shouko, come here," Komi's mother called her daughter over as a thunderclap sounded while they were making dinner. She knew her daughter was afraid of thunder. With her father not home yet and her son already asleep in his room, there was no one else to comfort Shouko.
"Um..."
"It was very loud, right?" Komi's mother comforted her on the sofa as Komi lay down on her mother's thigh.
*Tukk*
"Ah, Shouko, wait here, okay?" Komi's mother went to check the lights as their power went out, leaving the scared Komi behind.
As her mother was gone and there was no light, Komi tugged the blanket, covering her body. Just then, her phone rang, making her jolt in surprise. Realizing it was her phone buzzing, she picked it up and was surprised to see who was calling.
*Komi Shouko POV*
As my mother went to check the electricity, my phone rang, surprising me. Looking at the screen, I was even more surprised to see who was calling me!
"Shijo-kun? Why is he calling me?" I pondered for a second but took the courage to pick it up.
"Yes..."
"Ah, thank goodness you answered my call. Are you okay, shouko-san?" The voice I heard this evening came through my phone, making me feel at ease despite the loud thunder.
"I... I am fine," I murmured, trying to hide my fear. I didn't want to burden my new friend.
To hide my fear, I tried to maintain the conversation even though I had just met him.
"Electricity... gone."
"Same here, my light just went out... You see, I am too lazy to go fix it, so I am laying on my bed."
**Buzzz**
"Hii!" As Aki was talking, a thunderclap just cracked, and my scared voice leaked out. I bet he heard it too.
My suspicions were true. He asked me about it. " Shouko-san, are you scared of thunder?"
"I... I... Shijo-kun, can we talk like this a little longer?" I pleaded, scared to be alone.
"I don't mind if it will help you," he responded to my plea.
I was really happy as I kept the phone close to my ear, lying down on the sofa and listening to Aki's stories.
He knows me well too, like Tadano... kun. I'm glad I have such wonderful friends like them. I wish I could always be friends with them.
My thoughts were here and there as I talked with Shijo-kun. The first time I met him was at the school lockers. I was really afraid to talk back then.
But this evening, I met him again. He knew I cut my hair... and he complimented me...
*Tacc*
"Um, shouko san, are you there?" Aki asked as I wasn't responding much. He was doing most of the talking.
"Um..." I responded, "light came back," I replied.
"Oh, good for you... Mine hasn't. I think I need to check it tomorrow," Aki responded.
"Shouko, let's finish cooking before the light goes out again," my mother called from behind.
"Shouko-san? You need to go, right? If you feel scared again, call me anytime. Okay then, good night."
"Um, good night," I responded as we hung up the phone.
"Who was that? Who was that, Shouko, your boyfriend?" my mother teased. She had been there for a while, and I hadn't even noticed her presence.
This confirmed that I was really immersed in the phone call. My mother was really happy for me, seeing that I had found someone I could rely on, though she wondered how it happened.
*Somewhere Else*
"The number you dialed is currently busy."
"Busy? Is Komi-san talking to someone else, maybe her parents... or someone related?" Tadano wondered.
He was worried about Komi-san and was calling her number, but it showed as busy. He shrugged it off and continued watching TV.
