Urban Top Bodyguard

Chapter 10: Section 10: Brother Being Blackmailed

After finishing the noodles, Lin Xi cleaned up the bowls and chopsticks and picked up her small bag, ready to go to work when a sudden thought occurred to her.

Wang Yu had gone to the hotel to retrieve his luggage, and she hadn't given him the key. If she just left like this, how would he get in when he returned?

"Oh no!"

Lin Xi slapped her forehead and pouted, throwing her bag onto the couch, and promptly flopping down after it.

While lying on the couch lost in thought for a long while, Lin Xi finally took out her mobile phone from her bag and made a call to her office. She asked for a day off from her leader, using the excuse of not feeling well.

With that settled, Lin Xi turned on the television and watched it, while waiting for Wang Yu's return.

...

After leaving Sunshine District, Wang Yu hailed a taxi and headed toward Tianhao Hotel.

Soon enough, the hotel was within sight, but the driver suddenly stopped the car. Puzzled, Wang Yu looked outside and saw a long queue of cars ahead; it was clear that there was a traffic jam without needing to ask.

"Forget it, I'll get off here. I can't be bothered to wait," Wang Yu said, handing the driver a Hundred Yuan Bill. He took his change and got out of the car.

Walking down the road, and after about five or six minutes, there was a noisy crowd gathered ahead. Wang Yu looked over at the crowd and could faintly hear cursing, so he walked over.

Parting the crowd, Wang Yu went in for a look and was immediately shocked. In front of him, Chen Cheng was rolling on the ground covered in blood, while four young men were kicking and punching him.

"Stop!"

Wang Yu bellowed and charged forward. Chen Cheng had grown up with him since they were little, like brothers, and he was the only family he had left. Wang Yu wouldn't stand by if Chen Cheng was in trouble.

His shout immediately stunned the four men, who stopped beating Chen Cheng and turned to face Wang Yu, who was coming toward them.

"Chen Cheng! What's going on?"

Closer now, Wang Yu didn't look at the four men. Instead, he bent down to help Chen Cheng up and protected him behind his own body.

"Little Yu!"

The sudden appearance of Wang Yu initially filled Chen Cheng with joy, but soon he became worried.

Chen Cheng knew Wang Yu's character very well—if Wang Yu found out what happened, he would definitely fight these four men for his sake. Putting aside whether Wang Yu could beat them or not, what if he got in trouble again because of him?

Eight years ago, Wang Yu had wounded someone because of him, resulting in the brothers not seeing each other for eight years. After all this time, he couldn't let such a thing happen again.

"Little Yu, this has nothing to do with you. Go away quickly!"

With his mind made up, Chen Cheng started to push Wang Yu away.

"Go? Where am I supposed to go? Since I'm here, let's not be hasty to leave."

At that moment, a young guy with an earring stepped out and stood in front of Wang Yu and Chen Cheng.

Wang Yu looked at the young man with the earring and raised an eyebrow, then turned his attention back to Chen Cheng and said in a low voice, "Chen Cheng, what exactly happened? Tell me! Do you consider me your brother or not?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Cheng's eyes instantly reddened, and he said firmly to Wang Yu, "Of course you are my brother, but being brothers has nothing to do with this. Little Yu, listen to me and stay out of it because it's all my fault."

After speaking, Chen Cheng clenched his teeth, took out a handful of scattered banknotes from his pocket, and handed them to the guy with the earring, saying, "Bro, I apologize to you. This is all the money I have on me. Take it all!"

After he finished speaking, Chen Cheng hung his head, with one hand tightly clenched into a fist at his side, shaking slightly.

The guy with the earring glanced at the handful of scattered banknotes in Chen Cheng's hand and let out a snicker, "This little amount? You think we're beggars? Do you think you can get rid of us with this amount of money?" Although he spoke in this way, he still reached out for the banknotes.

But just as he reached out his hand, Wang Yu yanked Chen Cheng's arm back.

"Talk, what's going on?"

Looking at the guy with the earring, Wang Yu narrowed his eyes. Though his tone was calm, there was already a hint of killing intent in his eyes.

Wang Yu had seen everything, and knowing Chen Cheng as he did, he was certain that Chen Cheng must feel a great injustice inside and that what he said wasn't from the heart. If he was speaking like this, it was probably because he feared Wang Yu getting into trouble on his behalf again.

Therefore, Wang Yu was certain that Chen Cheng was the victim here, and his question to the guy with the earring was simply to get to the bottom of what had happened.

The guy with the earring looked at Wang Yu and raised an eyebrow, clearly annoyed by the way Wang Yu had just pulled back Chen Cheng's arm.

"He hit my car and refuses to compensate, that's all," he said.

"Nonsense! It was clearly you who hit their car!"

Someone in the crowd suddenly muttered softly, overturning Earring's argument.

"Fuck! Who's got a death wish? Stand out if you have the guts!" Earring frowned and immediately cast a fierce glance at the onlookers.

Upon hearing this, Wang Yu understood everything. Right and wrong have their own twists and turns, and justice lies in the hearts of the people. Although the onlookers did not dare to stand up to help Chen Cheng, they would definitely not lie.

A cold light flashed in his eyes, and Wang Yu was about to take action, but considering they were in public and to avoid worrying Chen Cheng, he suppressed his anger and squeezed out a smile towards Earring.

"How much do you want for this to be settled?" Wang Yu asked Earring calmly.

Earring was stunned upon hearing this. He thought Wang Yu would argue with him after hearing what the onlooker said, but he didn't expect Wang Yu not to mention it at all and instead directly ask how much money was needed.

After being stunned for a few seconds, it seemed like Earring had suddenly understood. He thought this young man was a pushover, afraid of getting beaten up because he saw Earring had a large group, so he planned to solve the problem with money.

"Five thousand, not a penny less!" Earring stretched out five fingers towards Wang Yu.

"Fine!" Wang Yu smiled, pulled out a stack of banknotes from his pocket, counted twenty and handed them to Chen Cheng, saying, "Go to the hospital and get checked. Afterwards, wait for me at the hotel where I'm staying, I still have some matters to deal with."

"No! I..."

"Stop arguing! Take it and go quick!"

Chen Cheng was about to object, but seeing Wang Yu's face turn serious, he reluctantly took the money, glanced at Earring with gritted teeth, then got into his taxi and drove towards the hospital.

Once Chen Cheng's car had completely disappeared into the traffic, Wang Yu counted out fifty hundred yuan bills and handed them to Earring.

Earring reached out to take the money, wetted his fingertips with saliva in his mouth, and recounted the money. Once he confirmed it was five thousand, he patted Wang Yu's face with his hand and said with a smile, "Now you're being sensible. If he had been like you, he wouldn't have had to take a beating." After speaking, he and his three companions got into a Lexus.

Seeing such an outcome, the onlookers all shook their heads and sighed. They had thought the young man who came would seek justice for his taxi driver brother, but they did not expect him to be a coward, not daring to utter a single word loudly.

The crowd dispersed, and at that moment, the Lexus also started to leave. Watching the Lexus, a cold light flashed in Wang Yu's eyes as he hailed a cab and followed it.

Half an hour later, the Lexus stopped in a residential district. The four men got out of the car and walked straight into an apartment building.

Wang Yu cracked a slight smile, opened the car door and got out, following the men up the stairs.

The four men went up to the fifth floor, where one of them knocked on a door. After a moment, a woman opened the door, peeked out, and then let the men in.

Just as the door was about to close, Wang Yu suddenly appeared, kicked the door open with force, and the woman who was closing it was knocked to the ground, with two red streams pouring from her nostrils.

"What's up, guys? You're staying here?" Wang Yu said lightly after entering.

The men were stunned, not knowing where this guy had come from. But they couldn't be blamed for their lack of awareness; even professionals couldn't detect Wang Yu's tracking, let alone these riff-raff.

"It's you!" Earring, seeing Wang Yu, was surprised, his mouth gaping wide open.

"That's right! It's me. I gather you've been having a hard time, running into the streets to play your extortion games, so I came specially to pay you a visit." Wang Yu said while looking around the room, noticing several women sitting there. They were dressed skimpily with heavily made-up faces, clearly indicating they were involved in the flesh trade.

The men were startled, realizing that trouble had come, and exchanged glances before surrounding Wang Yu. They pulled out knives from their pockets and eyed Wang Yu warily.

Wang Yu looked at them with contempt and said, "What? Planning to deal with me with these toys? I'll give you some time to find some decent weapons."

People accustomed to using knives are usually good at close quarters combat, but not these men. In their hands, the knives were merely tools for intimidation. Even if they had some skill, in front of the world's top assassin Phantom, they were just asking for trouble.

"Fuck! How did this kid follow us? He's pretty cocky!"

"Smack!"

As soon as Earring spoke, he was knocked down hard onto the ground. The others still did not know what had happened, blinking their eyes at Earring on the floor as if asking, "Why the hell did you suddenly throw yourself to the ground?"

Earring rubbed his belly as he got up from the ground, his face a mix of pain and confusion. He looked at his companions and shouted, "Fuck! Who kicked me?"

The men looked at each other, bewildered, and then all turned their gazes towards Wang Yu. If none of them had kicked, who else could it be but this beast, Wang Yu? They couldn't figure out how he did it.

Wang Yu took out a cigarette, lit it, took a deep inhale, then slowly blew out smoke rings before kicking the door shut.

"You beat up my brother, touched my face, and extorted five thousand from me. Medical fees, nutrition fees, mental anguish, lost wages—put it all together and you owe me about fifty to sixty thousand. Any objections?" Wang Yu said to them, tauntingly.
