Chapter 26: Chapter 26 : Movie?!! let's Watch
Eithan leaned back on the creaky old sofa, laptop perched on his lap as he nonchalantly typed up the last bit of his report about the mansion.
The documents detailed various parts of the property, suggesting which sections could be repurposed or sold as antique exhibits for a significant profit.
He smirked to himself, knowing this would keep his father, Max, off his back for a while.
With a few keystrokes, he sent the email and leaned back, stretching lazily. Moments later, his phone buzzed with a reply. Max had responded,
"Good job, son! This is exactly the kind of vision we need. Keep up the good work!"
Eithan chuckled, shaking his head.
"As if I'm going to do more than this," he muttered under his breath. He texted Max back:
"Ruhr, Albert, and Adi are out for a walk; Josh and Sarah are gone for work or something, and Uncle Leo is nearby. All's good."
Max's reply came almost instantly: "Report everything to me in detail, Eithan. Don't slack off."
Eithan rolled his eyes, exhaling sharply. "Typical," he murmured. He typed back a brief response:
"Sure thing, Dad. Don't worry, I'm on top of it."
After a pause, he added, almost as an afterthought: "Oh, and Josh is... well, he's being Josh. You know, sticking to Sarah like glue."
The message was sent, and Eithan smirked at the thought of how his father would react.
---
Miles away, Max sat in his office, sipping coffee and scrolling through Eithan's report. His face lit up at the mention of profit margins and opportunities.
"That boy has his moments," he muttered, clearly pleased.
But then he read Eithan's last text.
"Josh and Sarah... sticking together?" Max's expression darkened. His temple vein pulsed visibly as he clenched his fist. He muttered to himself,
"Why the hell is that boy embarrassing the family like this? Can't he act normal for once?"
With a deep sigh, Max shut off his phone and leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling.
"Raising kids... one's a genius, the other's a liability."
---
Back at the mansion, Eithan couldn't help but laugh to himself, imagining Max's reaction. He lazily tossed his phone aside, stretched out on the sofa, and decided it was the perfect time to do absolutely nothing.
"Work? Nah, I've done enough for the day,"
he mumbled, turning on the TV to binge-watch his favorite series.
---
A few minutes later, the quiet in the old mansion was interrupted as Adi, Sarah, and Ruhr returned from their walk.
They walked into the living room and found Eithan sprawled out on the sofa, engrossed in a movie. The light from the screen flickered across his carefree face, and the crinkling sound of a chip bag betrayed his secret stash.
Albert, seeing Eithan relaxed and watching something fun, excitedly jumped onto the sofa beside him.
"What are you watching, big bro?" he asked, his tone childlike.
Eithan gave a slight nod, letting Albert join him.
"Some action movie. You'll like it. Got any chips left?" he asked, pointing at Albert's hands.
Albert smiled and generously handed over the bag. "Here, you can have some!"
"Thanks, buddy," Eithan said casually, popping a chip into his mouth.
Ruhr and Adi, meanwhile, found seats on the adjacent sofa, sitting side by side.
As the movie played on, the two began discussing the mansion.
"You know, this place has so much give me Ancestor vibe ,"
Ruhr said with passion, her eyes sparkling.
"It must've been those brilliant workers and designer back in the day. I mean, look at these walls and the design!"
Adi, however, shivered slightly, his voice trembling.
"Or maybe... it's haunted. What if those creaky sounds we heard earlier were vampires ?"
Ruhr rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a laugh.
"Oh, come on, Adi! There's nothing here but old furniture and dust."
Eithan, overhearing them, smirked without looking away from the screen.
"If it's haunted, I'm charging those vampire rent," he muttered, making Albert laugh loudly.
Just then, the door opened, and Sarah and Josh walked in.
Josh was still grinning, a mischievous twinkle in his eye, while Sarah looked calm but slightly wary.
"What's going on in here? A family movie t?" Josh joked, noticing everyone gathered around the Laptop.
Albert waved at them. "Yeah! Come sit!"
Eithan shot Josh a mock glare.
"Only if you keep the perv ass vibes outside this room."
Josh raised his hands defensively.
"Hey, I'm just here for the chips and company!"
Sarah smirked and grabbed a seat on the armrest of the sofa near Ruhr, observing the scene with an amused expression.
"So, what are we watching?" she asked.
"Something old but gold," Eithan replied.
"Don't expect too much—it's just something to pass the time."
The group settled in, the living room now alive with chatter, laughter, and the sound of crunching chips.
For a brief moment, the mysterious mansion seemed like the coziest place on earth.
---
Leo returned from a nearby hotel he had discovered during his morning walk.
He carried a bag of Jianbing and rice, along with fresh vegetables he'd picked up for lunch. Entering the old mansion, he noticed the lively scene in the living room, where everyone was glued to the Laptop, immersed in the movie.
"Ah, so this is where all the energy has gone," Leo remarked with a chuckle.
"You're all watching movies while I've been running around."
The group barely responded, their focus entirely on the screen. Leo shook his head with a smile and headed straight to the kitchen.
"Well, I guess I'll whip up something to complement this feast," he muttered, rolling up his sleeves.
He began preparing the vegetables, chopping and stirring, as the sound of laughter and shouting came from the living room.
Back in the living room, Josh was laughing heartily at a comedic scene in the movie. He nudged Eithan with a smirk.
"So, mister, you called me a perv earlier, huh? And here you are, wasting time watching movies like a couch potato."
Eithan, ever carefree, leaned back and responded lazily,
"It's called multitasking. I'm unwinding while mentally preparing for my next brilliant Work."
Josh laughed, but his tone turned mock-offensive.
"Mentally preparing, huh? For what, another nap?"
The banter escalated, with Eithan delivering equally sarcastic retorts, and the siblings chiming in with their own commentary.
Adi giggled nervously, unsure whether they were serious or just messing around, while Albert mimicked Eithan's relaxed posture, trying to act cool.
Suddenly, the movie reached its climax—a dramatic twist no one had seen coming.
"WHAT?!" Josh shouted, jumping off the sofa.
Albert clutched his bag of chips, eyes wide with excitement.
"No way! That's crazy!"
Even Eithan, usually unbothered, sat up straight.
"Okay, I did NOT see that coming," he admitted, a rare flicker of amazement in his voice.
Ruhr and Sarah exchanged amused glances, enjoying the reactions more than the movie itself.
Adi, however, screamed in surprise, quickly burying his face in a pillow.
The room erupted into chaos as everyone began talking over each other, analyzing the twist and theorizing what would happen next.
Leo, hearing the commotion from the kitchen, poked his head out.
"What's going on out here?" he asked, wiping his hands on a towel.
Josh, still animated, pointed at the Laptop.
"The movie! You've got to see this, Uncle Leo. It's insane!"
Leo chuckled, shaking his head.
"I'll take your word for it. Lunch will be ready soon, so save your energy for the food."
Eithan, leaning back into his relaxed posture, gave a thumbs up.
"Food AND a good movie? Now, this is what I call balance."
The group settled back into the movie, their excitement still bubbling under the surface. In the kitchen, Leo worked efficiently, preparing a hearty meal to match the lively atmosphere.
For a moment, the old mansion felt like a home, filled with warmth, laughter, and the shared joy of a simple movie afternoon.
**Later after watching the movie they all had there lunch**
