Chapter 28: Invite her for dinner
After some time, the Elder Prince finally walked to the royal palace, his gaze neutral, void of any little emotion that he had shown to Miss Delilah while talking to her.
"Hail, the elder Prince," The commander stepped ahead, and the security behind the elder prince, immediately stood in front of him, as if stopping him from stepping closer to the elder prince.
The elder prince turned his gaze towards the commander and nodded before looking at the rest of the soldiers who were standing with their heads bowed to him.
"This way, elder prince," Jacob piped in to protect the soldiers from facing his wrath, and the man immediately started walking inside the royal palace, his gaze meeting with Prince Elwin.
"Brother," Prince Elwin stepped ahead, pretending to be happy to see him, and the man looked at his younger brother's exaggeration, rolling his eyes as he pushed the man away, making him scowl.
"Hey, at least be a little happy to see me. Do you not love me anymore, big brother?" Prince Elwin walked behind him like a kid happy to see their guardian.
"Would you like to eat something? It's almost dinner time. It has been so long since we had dinner together. There are so many things we need to talk about," Prince Elwin clapped his hand, his gaze shifting to Miss Tianna standing near the staircase.
"Brother, Miss Tianna wanted to greet you too," Prince Elwin said.
The elder prince averted his gaze towards the girl who smiled shyly and bowed her head in respect.
Now that he looked at her sophisticated attire, he couldn't help but think about the girl in the sundress he saw a few minutes earlier.
Weren't the two sisters really polar opposites?
"It's a pleasure to meet you, elder prince," Tianna whispered.
The elder prince, Zephyr, nodded his head, continuing to walk towards the dining hall.
As soon as Tianna entered the dining hall, she noticed how the elder Prince sat in the head's seat and her brows furrowed.
Wasn't this place for the person who has decided to take over the throne? There is no way it was the elder prince who was taking over the throne, right? Didn't everyone say it was Prince Elwin?
Tianna looked at Prince Elwin, and seeing him sitting on the chair right in front of the head seat, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Chef Gray, why don't you bring the food?" Prince Elwin said.
The elder prince looked at his security.
"Do you want to join me?" He asked, his voice cold and the security shook their heads.
"Then what are you doing here?" He asked, and the security widened their eyes before rushing out of the room.
Jacob didn't move from his place, and knowing the subordinate just wanted to ensure that his anger stayed controlled, Zephyr didn't ask him to leave.
"I heard Miss Tianna came to the Royal palace a few days ago. Is she admitted to the University? We can't have a school pass out in our royal palace," Zephyr said, his hands interlocked on the table.
"I have taken the measures, brother. They will go to the University starting Monday," Prince Elwin said, his pupils dilating when he realized he made a slip-up.
"They?"
"Miss Tianna and her cousin," Prince Elwin mentioned.
"Does her cousin not eat food? Why do I not see her here?" Prince Zephyr asked, his gaze turning stern.
Prince Elwin immediately smiled awkwardly.
Meanwhile, Katherine, who heard the elder prince was in the dining hall to have dinner with his brother and her cousin, took a deep breath and started walking towards the royal palace.
'Daisy, if you think you can get out of the situation so easily, you are wrong. I haven't forgotten what we were talking about. What do you mean by fallen angels?' Katherine asked.
The system pressed its lips into a thin line since it couldn't find any way out.
'Why do you want to know so many things? You have just arrived into this body. Give it some time. You will understand everything slowly,' The system said, but when it noticed that Katherine was least fazed, it sighed.
'I swear I haven't met a tougher candidate than you,' The system groaned.
'I know and I am proud of it. Now tell me the truth,' Katherine said to the system as she entered the royal palace, making a beeline towards the stairs to go straight to her room.
'Well, the fallen angels are the ones who either mated with a human or a member of another species, giving birth to a hybrid,' The system explained and Katherine hummed.
'So Delilah's mother/father was a fallen angel and they mated with the wolf?' Katherine asked.
The system sighed.
It wanted to nod at Katherine's speculations, but this wasn't so simple. This was way more complicated than anything because Katherine herself wasn't what she believed her entire life.
How was the system supposed to explain this complicated stuff to a girl, who doesn't know anything about herself even after living for 23 years because her powers never showed up?
'It's even more complicated than that. However, for a hint, you can think that Delilah was special, and now that specialty is transferred to you,' The system said.
Katherine rolled her eyes.
'What kind of explanation is this? It doesn't make any sense at all. What do you mean -' Katherine stopped talking when she heard her name being called.
"Miss Delilah,"
She looked down from the stairs that led to the first floor.
"Yes?" She asked, unsure if they really wanted to talk to her or were confusing her with Tianna again.
"Prince Elwin and the elder prince want you to have dinner with them," The maid said.
Katherine's brows furrowed even more.
"Are you sure it's Miss Delilah and not Miss Tianna?" Katherine confirmed.
"Miss Tianna is already there," the maid said and Katherine hummed.
She walked to the dining hall with multiple questions going inside her head.
Didn't they want her out of the elder prince's sight? Then why were they calling her now? Katherine sighed, evening her expression as soon as she reached the dining hall, her gaze immediately meeting the man who was sitting on the head seat.
"Elder Prince, Prince Elwin," Katherine bowed to both the princes, unsure where to sit on the long dining table.
After thinking for some time, she decided to sit on the left side of her sister, away from both the princes, but before she could move, Jacob was quick on his feet.
He pulled the chair on the left side of the elder prince.
Katherine froze in her place.
There was no way this subordinate wanted her to sit with the ender prince.
Wait. Maybe he was pulling the chair for himself? Didn't Maximus have enough influence to sit and eat with Prince Elwin? Maybe Jacob has a similar influence. Katherine nodded at her trail of thoughts, proceeding to pull the chair beside Tianna.
Her actions surprised both Jacob and Prince Elwin.
"Miss Delilah, do you not want to sit here?" Jacob finally voiced out and Katherine turned to the subordinate.
"Weren't you going to sit there?" Katherine asked, innocently.
Prince Elwin- "..."
Jacob - "..."
She was really stupid, wasn't she? They sighed and looked at the elder prince from the corner of their eyes, who was sitting there unfazed.
"How is your hand, Miss Delilah? I heard what happened," The elder prince chose to change the topic rather than embarrass her.
Katherine walked to the seat that Jacob pulled for her and sat on it gently, noticing how her right hand which was in the cast was now on the elder prince's side.
"It should heal soon," Katherine nodded, remembering what her system told her about it being healed but suggested that she not get the cast removed and raise any suspicions.
"Is that so?" He asked, lifting his gaze from his phone towards the girl, who immediately felt her breath hitch when her gaze met with the smoldering hot blue ones.
She quickly averted her gaze, a smirk appearing on Zephyr's face behind the mask.
"What would you like to eat?" Zephyr asked her, and she raised her brows at him.
"Hmm?"
"Your hand is wounded. Since I invited you to the table, it's only good manners that I place the food on your plate," Zephyr said, and Katherine, who was feeling nervous sitting directly beside him, felt her hands getting sweaty.
"Ohh, you don't have to worry about that. I can do this much," Katherine stood from her place and took the bowl of the cutlets with her left hand.
"See?" She placed the bowl down and grabbed the two cutlets from the tongs before placing it on her plate, followed by noodles and some white sauce pasta along with fruit custard.
Everyone saw her struggling with one hand to prove her point, and Zephyr sighed, catching everyone's attention.
"I would surely not like to eat hair in supper," He said, his gaze shifting to Katherine's hair that was getting on the table.
Katherine was about to pull them back, but Zephyr's next action stopped her, surprising not only her but everyone.
