Chapter 16
Chapter 16: A Hero Rescues the Beauty and Captures Her Heart:
“Stop right there!”
From the darkness, Lu Feng made a dramatic entrance!
He rushed out of the shadows and delivered a flying kick, sending the thug with the spiked hair flying two meters away.
“It’s you!” Xiao Yue exclaimed in surprise as she looked at the man standing before her.
“Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, they won’t be able to hurt you.” Lu Feng said, striking a pose he thought was irresistibly handsome, exuding his manly charm without restraint.
[Ding! Xiao Yue’s Luck Value +500]
Lu Feng’s eyes lit up. Only a move like this could quickly win over Xiao Yue. Just one kick, and 500 luck points!
“He still has a knife!” Xiao Yue quickly warned. Although the spiky-haired thug had been knocked to the ground, his fate uncertain, the yellow-haired thug was still holding a sharp blade, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
The middle-aged man from earlier had retreated in fear of the knife.
What about Lu Feng?
He had only met Xiao Yue once; would he also choose to run away?
Maybe, she thought, it would be unrealistic to expect otherwise.
The yellow-haired thug was getting nervous, frantically signaling to Lu Feng, who was still posing.
Oh, he’d been holding that pose for too long.
This wasn’t a movie—if the villain had any sense, the hero would’ve been stabbed seven or eight times by now.
But the thug in front of him was just a minor villain; the real villain was Lu Feng himself.
“Get out of here while I’m in a good mood, or else!” Lu Feng said coldly.
“Or else what?” the yellow-haired thug retorted, as if following a script.
“Bastard, don’t think that just because you know a bit of martial arts, you can play the hero! Do you know what this is? A knife! No matter how skilled you are, you can’t beat a knife!”
“It’s fine!” Lu Feng reassured Xiao Yue with a look, sticking to the script. But Xiao Yue wasn’t comforted at all, remembering how the other man had run away right after saying something similar.
“Running away in front of a woman? What kind of man would I be? If you’ve got the guts, kill me! If I take even one step back, I’m a coward!”
“You’ve got some nerve!” The yellow-haired thug lunged forward, slashing at Lu Feng, and the two began to tussle.
“Be careful!” Xiao Yue shouted, stomping her foot in worry as she saw the thug aiming the knife at Lu Feng repeatedly. She couldn’t stand it any longer. She grabbed a brick from the ground, ready to join the fight.
The yellow-haired thug, seeing her determination, panicked, quickly threw the knife aside, and dramatically fell to the ground, pretending to be dead.
The knife’s tip barely touched the ground before retracting slightly, then bouncing away from the impact. It was actually a retractable stage knife.
“Are you okay?” Xiao Yue hurried to help the bewildered Lu Feng. What was with that yellow-haired thug? Why wasn’t he following the script?
Luckily, Xiao Yue didn’t seem to suspect anything. Seizing the moment, Lu Feng revealed his bloodied left hand.
“Oh no! You’re hurt!”
[Ding! Xiao Yue’s Luck Value +500]
Xiao Yue’s heart tightened as she saw the blood on his hand, startling her.
“I’ll take you to the hospital!”
“No need for a hospital, it’s just a minor injury!” He replied. Going to the hospital would ruin the plot that was supposed to unfold next.
“Then what should we do? You’re injured!”
“It’s just a superficial wound. Do you know how to bandage it? Just patch it up; I don’t want to worry my grandfather.”
In truth, Lu Feng’s actions didn’t make much sense—his hand was hurt, not his legs. But Xiao Yue was too concerned to notice anything odd. She quickly supported Lu Feng and helped him back to her home.
Not long after they left, the two thugs got up from the ground. A voice came through an earpiece in Zhang Qiang’s ear.
“I’ve spotted the target at the No. 2 intersection. Group 1, report your status!”
“Group 1 here. Everything is going according to plan.”
With that, a group of men dressed in black approached from a distance, and suddenly, the previously silent street was filled with the sounds of people walking and cars passing by.
Zhang Qiang nodded and looked at the road leading into the village, which his men had blocked.
“Alright! Clear the road; the show’s over.”
“Hey, the driver at the back! Come here to collect your red envelope!”
One of the lackeys approached Zhang Qiang, puzzled. “Brother Qiang, what’s this all about?”
“What else? Helping the boss chase a girl, of course.”
“Chasing a girl with such a big setup? Who is she? A celebrity?”
“Why do you ask so many questions? Did I short you on your pay?” Zhang Qiang glared at his underlings.
“Listen up! Keep your ears open. If anyone talks about what happened today, don’t blame me for what happens next!”
…
In the dim light, Lu Feng let Xiao Yue tend to his wound.
The injury wasn’t deep; most of the blood wasn’t even his. But the length of the cut was still enough to make Xiao Yue’s heart race with fear.
As Xiao Yue worked, Lu Feng used the time to plan his next move while also observing her.
Compared to Yan Qingxue, Xiao Yue was much easier to evoke a man’s desire. The reason was simple.
Yan Qingxue, true to her name, was a cold beauty, her icy demeanor and statuesque height of 1.7 meters intimidating most men.
Xiao Yue was the opposite.
Her clear, delicate eyes, small, elegant nose, and fair skin surrounded her soft, red lips. Her slender figure resembled that of a budding young girl.
The way her delicate hands gently touched Lu Feng, combined with the worry and fear in her eyes, made her all the more enchanting. She was like a little deer, evoking a sense of pity in anyone who saw her.
Xiao Yue was completely unaware that Lu Feng was studying her.
She was lost in the moment, her neck stretched as she looked down into her collar. This scene felt like a dream, a fantasy come true.
Her actions slowed, and it wasn’t until she realized she had finished bandaging the wound, with no reason left to hold his strong hand, that she reluctantly let go.
Xiao Yue knew the difference in their status, so she never dared to hope for anything more.
Yet, as she calmed her stirred emotions, a new question arose in her mind.
Lu Feng didn’t seem as bad as Su Chen had made him out to be.
