Chapter 20: Chapter 20
A lot of people in the Hall were paying attention to the Albonns and the Zaraynes, and when Alexander Albonn was not greeted by his granddaughters, they started speculating what was going on.
Some doubts were put to rest when a young boy, barely 12 years old, rushed to his sisters and happily hugged them.
Then Raeya and Klara's parents came over to greet Maria and everyone, and they watched how happily Mikael greeted his Father-in-Law and hugged him.
The In-Laws then sat down at the table for a while before Alastair excused himself and returned to the side of his father.
Now, everyone was sure that only the old man of the Albonn Family was unhappy with this marriage. And he seemed unhappy with his son as well.
"Raeya, Klara, come with me. I need to talk to you about something." Grisha suddenly said, and her two daughters obediently nodded their heads and got up.
The three ladies walked into a corner, and Mikael, who was seeing his wives furrowing their brows, excused himself and walked over to check what was going on.
He heard what that her talking about on his way, but still feigned confusion.
"What's wrong?" He gently asked Klara, who clearly looked angry about something.
His wife panicked a little at his call and seemed hesitant to speak.
"Mikael, I hope you will not misunderstand what I am going to tell you. Please listen until Aunty finishes telling you everything. Okay?" Grisha held his hand and spoke to him, and he nodded his head to her.
His Mother-in-Law then told him about what the family had found out yesterday.
Alexander Albonn owed his life to one of his old friends, General Bai, and the two were childhood friends.
Twenty-one years ago, when the Old Albonn went to see his friend, he found a young boy with him, whom Bai Yuan had taken in as his Disciple.
Later, over the drinks, Alexander happened to bring up the matter of how he owed his life to his friend, and the retired General decided to cash in on the debt.
Grisha was pregnant with the twins at that time, and Old Bai asked for the younger daughter's hand for his Disciple, which the Old Albonn happily accepted.
They signed a Betrothal Contract that the two would wed when the girl would finish her studies. So, two weeks ago, Old Bai contacted him and told him that his Disciple was coming to get his bride.
The Disciple's name was Aaron Stone, the young man who was currently standing by Alexander's side. He had recently returned to the country from Huaxia.
Grisha told him that Klara was unaware of this. Even they did not know anything about it. She made it clear that neither she nor her husband acknowledged this Betrothal Contract.
She was very relieved when he said that he understood the situation and that it would not affect his relationship with his wife.
His Mother-in-Law then told him exactly what happened yesterday.
Since Klara had married him, Old Albonn profusely apologised to the young man and offered him a piece of shares in his hands of the Albonn Corporation and gifted him the Nightfall Club in compensation.
When Alastair and Edwin heard what their father planned to do, they stood up and argued about how he could trust a stranger like this.
There was a big fight at home, where both sons threatened to sever their ties and drag the matter to the court. They refused to allow someone outside the family to claim the shares in their Corporation which were meant to be passed down to their children.
Even though the shares were Alexander's personal shares, he had inherited them, and it was his duty to pass them down to his children and their legacy.
They refused to tolerate the blatant disregard for the family rules and traditions, and in the end, the Old Man apologised to Aaron again and only gave him 100 Million Draks instead of shares. And since he had already given him the Nightfall Club, he did not ask for it to be returned.
What dismayed them even more was how he promised to get Aaron some valuable properties from today's Auction.
"Since you fought over the Galaxy Hotel with them, Father is very unhappy with you."
"I did not fight with them over it, Aunty. We entered the bidding first. It was a target that my company needed." He frowned. "And it's business. I can not bear losses for the sake of giving face to a relative."
"I understand, Child," Grisha sighed, "but they think that you deliberately fought over it with them. He has a very poor opinion of you and..."
"Called me stupid for spending tens of millions above the market value?" He smiled, and she embarrassedly nodded her head.
"Aaron spoke into his ears that you and your family are only after the wealth of the Albonn Family, and so you seduced my daughters..."
"That's ridiculous!" Raeya was seemingly very indignant, and her mother sighed at her response.
"I have no such intentions, Aunty. I am not a poor man. I already have more than enough wealth to spend lavishly for the rest of my life without earning anything more." He chuckled.
"I believe you. Alastair trusts you too." She nodded at him with a smile and cupped his cheek lovingly. "I know my daughters. They are happy with you."
"Are you?" He teasingly asked Raeya and Klara, and both could not help but blush.
Seeing their reaction, Grisha was even more relieved in her heart and then sadly lowered her head.
"We are all very worried. Father seems to trust Aaron a lot, and he even cut his ties with your father and uncle over a stranger, saying that they were no sons of his."
When Mikael heard those words, he was genuinely shocked.
"Forgive me, Aunty, but I think your Old Man is losing his mind. Perhaps it's the age."
All three of the ladies frowned at his words, and they clearly sensed his dismay at what had just been revealed to him.
But none of them said anything to him or corrected him, even though his words made them uncomfortable.
They had the same thoughts.
"What about that young man? Does he have no integrity and shame? He is asking Old Albonn to give him your family wealth?"
Clear disgust flashed across Grisha's face after she heard his words, and then she nodded her head, which made her daughters feel even more disgusted of the Son of Luck.
"He said that debts need to be paid. Those who can not honour their promises are not honourable."
"And Old Albonn tolerated those words?" He surprisedly asked, and the lady sadly sighed.
"Your Uncle and I believe that he will be making things difficult for the three of you tonight..." She worriedly said. "He seems crazy and claims that you stole his wife."
"What?! How was I his wife?" Klara was flabbergasted when she heard the claim.
"Yeah," Her mother sighed again and tears brimmed up in her eyes. "Edwin defended you and argued with him that he should not speak nonsense. In the end, he could not keep his temper after seeing how ridiculous the young man was acting. He tried to slap him, but Aaron caught his hand and proceeded to break his arm and beat him. When Father did not even stand for him and said that he deserved it for being unfilial, your Uncle was heartbroken and left the Manor with your aunts and cousins."
Even though tears came to her eyes as well, Raeya immediately wrapped her arm around her mother, giving her support, and Klara felt dizzy after what she had just listened to.
She only felt better and her mind cleared up a little when Mikael grabbed her hand and gently squeezed it.
"Mother, you and Father should move out. You should not stay at the Manor. I am worried that man is there to swallow the Albonn Family's wealth, and he might even harm Stephen." The younger twin concluded and worriedly advised Grisha.
"Your father and I think the same, but Alastair is worried about leaving Father alone with that man. Who knows what his plans are..." She anxiously said and held back her tears. "I am glad you got married to Mikael, Klara. I can't even imagine you with that man."
"Everything will be fine, Aunty, relax." Mikael suddenly wrapped his arm around her and comforted her, wearing a very bright smile, and then even laughed, which confused them. "Stephen is coming over." He whispered, and all three of them immediately schooled their expressions.
Soon they returned to the table, and Maria was quite curious about what was going on. She could clearly see that Grisha and her daughters seemed worried about something.
When Miakel and Klara left the table to meet some businessmen at the venue, the Lady of the Zarayne Family asked her older daughter-in-law about their worries. And Raeya told her what she had learned from her mother.
"He's clearly after your Family Wealth." Maria reached the same conclusion as the rest of them, and then sighed and picked up her phone from the table.
She did not hide from Raeya as she ordered someone on the call to look into General Bai and his Disciple, Aaron Stone. She also asked the person on the other end to look into the relationship between Bai Yuan and Alexander Albonn.
"What does he want?"
Maria heard Raeya speak and then glanced in the direction she was looking at.
She too furrowed her brows when she saw the young man in a suit, without a tie, walking towards Mikael and Klara. He was carrying a wine glass in his hand, and both the ladies were dismayed at how he deliberately timed his movement and crashed into Mikael when he turned around.
All the wine in the glass was now on the young Zarayne's jacket and shoes.
Raeya wanted to get up and go over, but she saw Mikael gesture to her to stay, and she reluctantly stayed seated.
"It's okay. Please excuse me," Mikael lightly smiled at Aaron, and the people around them felt very relieved to hear his words. "Please excuse me, Gentlemen."
"Of course, Master Zarayne." They understandingly nodded their heads, but just when Mikael grabbed Klara's hand and walked towards the bathroom, he heard a voice from behind.
"Stop!"
A wry smile crossed Mikael's face, and he squeezed Klara's hand as he continued walking.
Soon, he heard some heavy steps coming over, and someone grabbed him by his arm.
"I asked you to stop." Aaron coldly said, and the Zarayne raised his brow and turned around to face him.
By now, they had the attention of everyone in the room, and Mikael looked at him in confusion.
"Excuse me?"
"You haven't apologised to me yet," The Son of Luck smirked at him, and everyone around them was confused by his words.
A group of guards, including Archer, suddenly stepped forward, and without giving any warning, they all drew their pistols at Aaron.
"Let go of the arm, Sir."
The scene fell in everyone's eyes, and Mikael immediately raised his hand and signalled to them to lower their weapons.
He then grabbed Aaron's hand and freed his arm before the man could react to what just happened.
"Relax. I am sure the gentleman here means no harm." He spoke to his guards, who nodded to him and then moved to stand behind him.
None of them hid their strength, and the oppression from them made them Son of Luck and little wary.
"May I ask what you want me to apologise for?"
"You spilt my wine." The young man looked at him, frowning.
"Oh? Are you sure it was not you who deliberately crashed into me?"
"Are you going to apologise or not?"
Mikael sighed at his words and then turned to look at Archer.
"Go, request the City Lord to allow you to view the security footage in the Hall. Copy the footage where this Gentleman crashed into me and bring it here."
"Yes, Boss."
After the man left, Mikael smiled at Aaron.
"If it is my fault, I will apologise to you. And I hope you are ready to hold the curtesy if it proves to be your fault. Now, excuse me, I need to clean my jacket."
He pulled Klara with him and continued walking towards the bathroom, leaving Aaron feeling embarrassed with all the eyes on him, who were judging him.
