Villain's Requiem

Chapter 18: Chapter 18 - Leaving the Estate

Night had arrived. Meaning, it was time to get out of here. Although, I don't think there's any need to sneak out.

After all both Reinhardt and Arnolds have known about my escape plan for weeks now, yet they didn't do anything to stop me, so I doubt they suddenly would.

I walked back inside my room and looked towards the corner. My bag was there.

Packing for this trip was a painstaking effort. For the unexpected road ahead, I carefully selected a variety of everyday outfits that are adaptable and sturdy.

A trusty little knife, an instrument of survival and defence, found its home among them. Ready-made food, compact and non-perishable, was packed into the backpack to ensure I didn't go hungry on my trip.

But it was the different potions I had meticulously collected over time that truly distinguished from the others.

Each vial contained a distinct concoction, a concoction of magic and alchemy, each potentially life-saving in its own right.

After checking the necessities, I turned my attention to another critical component of my preparations.

I accumulated a significant amount of money as a consequence of diligent savings during the previous month. Yeah, I may have been disowned but it wasn't public yet so they still gave me an allowance.

This wealth would come in handy when it came to dealing with the unknown expenses as well as chances that awaited me on this adventure.

I hauled the bag onto my shoulders after inspecting the completed gear and assuring that nothing was awry.

But the load seemed heavier than I had expected. I realized there had to be a better way.

Then looking at the ring on my finger, I smiled. It was a storage ring.

Storage rings were basically artifacts made by inscribing spatial runes on a ring. There by allowing for items to be stored inside.

Though they can't store LIVING things, but any other thing is fair game. Hence they tend to be extremely expensive, although the space inside isn't unlimited but even the smallest spatial rings had a volume capacity of 10meter cube.

I quickly transferred the entire load into the storage ring. Why bother with a bulky luggage when I may have the convenience of a mobile storage space?

I left my room and walked through the familiar hallways, making numerous turns until I reached the final corridor.

Aisha, my personal maid, stood patiently in the corridor as I arrived. Standing just before the door.

"Are you leaving, Young Master Lucas?" she inquired, her eyes filled with concern and anxiety.

I simply nodded, knowing that words couldn't fully express how serious my departure was.

"Oh? I guess there's nothing I can say to change your mind huh?"

I simply nodded. I still don't get this girl. Why is she so concerned with me? Even after everything Lucas did to her. Why?

An uncomfortable silence descended between us.

She then began to speak, emphasizing the importance of my safety and well-being during my voyage.

It was a heartfelt dialogue full of genuine concern and knowledge.

And then unexpectedly or rather should I say it was expected given her personality.

She took me into a loving and reassuring hug once she finished.

Her remarks were quiet, but they conveyed a powerful message "This is your home, Please return safely. And remember, even if the whole world turns against you, I will always be your ally".

The sincerity in her embrace and words brought a glimmer of reassurance in the midst of the uncertainty that lay ahead. I accepted her thoughts with a grateful smile.

"Thank you, Aisha."

After finishing my preparations and saying my goodbyes, I made my way to the back of the door and went outside the mansion.

I then headed to the back of the estate, where the emergency gate was placed. It was a quiet exit, away from prying eyes.

The only ones who would know about this gate were probably Arnolds, Reinhardt and members of House Morningstar.

But they weren't going to stop me. Arnolds could hardly give a shit, Silas wants me gone, Isabel is probably unsure of how to feel about me, and Reinhardt. I don't know.

But this was the path I needed to travel, in order to slip away silently and escape any unpleasant confrontations with the guards so, I really had no choice.

As I approached the main gate, I brought out the cloak, I had brought with me and wore it. This was in order to hide my white hair. A genetic trait for most members of House Morningstar.

I pushed the gate open and left the estate.
