Villain's Requiem

Chapter 5: Chapter 5- House Morningstar

I followed the maid through the opulent hallways of the Morningstar mansion, my footsteps echoing off the polished marble floors.

The walls were adorned with intricate tapestries depicting out family crest: a golden star shining bright on a blue background.

As we walked, the maid's heels clicked against the floor, her dark uniform rustling with each step.

I couldn't help but notice the way the flickering Candelabras cast shadows on her face, making her seem almost... sympathetic.

We passed by the grand ballroom, it's chandelier - filled ceiling glinting like diamonds.

The doors to the library were open, revealing shelves upon shelves of leather bound tomes.

The maid stopped before a pair of grand metal doors, adorned with our family crest. She pushed them open, revealing the dining hall.

The room was a masterpiece of elegance, with high ceilings and crystal chandeliers refracting the light.

The walls were lined with tall windows, casting a warm glow over the space.

At the far end of the hall, four knights stood guard, their armor polished to a mirror finish. Their eyes flicked to me, their expressions unreadable.

The dining table, a majestic slab of dark wood, dominated the center of the room.

Looking inside, I saw 'my' family already seated.

At the head of the table, Duke Arnold Morningstar presided. His snow white hair combed back, revealing piercing blue eyes. His strong jawline and sharp features commanding respect.

To his right sat Silas Morningstar, 'my' twin brother. Silas' golden hair was styled perfectly, framing his chiseled face and crimson colored eyes.

Those eyes seemed to gleam with an inner intensity, a spark that made my skin prickle.

On Duke Morningstar's left, Isabel 'my' younger sister, sat with her fiery red hair tied back in a neat braid.

Her bright blue eyes sparkled with curiosity, her petite nose wrinkled in a perpetual smile.

I took my designated seat at the far end of the table, trying not to feel like an outsider. Ironic since in a way, I kinda am.

"Lucas, welcome," Arnolds said, his voice commanding attention. "We have been waiting for you."

I met Silas' gaze, his eyes flashing with malice. I knew that this dinner was going to be really really tough and I would not like it.

The maid curtsied, disappearing as silently as she had appeared. Dinner was about to begin, and I sensed that this evening would be far from ordinary.
