Chapter 9: The Birth of the Green Goblin
"Soon, Osborn Industries will surpass Stark Industries as the largest supplier to America's military. Fellow directors, profits will increase, costs will decrease, and our company's stock price will rise as never before. Ladies and gentlemen, we at Osborn Industries have a brand new future ahead!" Norman stood in the center of the board meeting room, and projected on the wall was the news about the missing Tony Stark.
All the directors on the board glanced at each other, and the oldest director, with gray hair, finally stood up. "Very well, so we have decided to sell the company to Stark Industries."
"What..." Norman's smile gradually disappeared; he couldn't believe what he had just heard. The elderly director showed no expression as he continued, "The military is disappointed with our progress, and the contract with us will be withdrawn. Stark's current controller has offered very good acquisition terms, so selling the company would be the most profitable option."
"Hehe..." Norman laughed angrily, his figure trembling as his smile gradually turned cold. "I founded Osborn Industries myself. How could you do this? How dare you do this?! Do you know how much I've sacrificed for Osborn Industries?!"
The board of directors didn't even inform him before making this decision, treating him like a fool. This made him lose control of his emotions. "Norman Osborn..." The elderly director ignored Norman's anger and called him by his full name. "The military is disappointed with us because of you."
"Look at what you've done. The human enhancement experiments you've conducted haven't yielded any results so far. The Connors and Otto you've recruited, have their experiments yielded results? This is why the military is disappointed with us. In this way, they might as well choose Stark Industries with better efficiency and quality."
"So, tomorrow we will be announcing your dismissal after the World Carnival. Your ignorance and incompetence will lead to your downfall, Norman Osborn."
After hearing this, Norman sighed weakly, sat in his chair, his eyes brimming with anger. "Don't let me out, never!!"
"Why are you in such a hurry, Norman?" Dr. Shi looked suspiciously at Norman, who hurried into the laboratory.
"We have to hurry up." Norman walked to the refrigerator and took out a tube of green liquid. He paused, recalling the mocking and disdainful expressions on the faces of the board members. Resolutely, he took out another tube of human body strengthening agent. No one anticipated that this decision would cause Norman to "disappear" completely.
"Use it on me!" Norman handed two tubes of medicine to Dr. Shi.
Dr. Shi never thought that Norman would become so anxious and reckless at this time. He shook his head and refused, "No, we can't do this. The human body strengthening agent has not yet been perfected. The volunteers will come tomorrow. We don't know the hidden dangers."
Norman didn't have time to wait. He put the medicine in the nebulizer himself and gradually walked into the huge cultivation chamber. "Tomorrow, Osborn is done. The progress of science is to try boldly. Start now, now!"
Seeing that he could not persuade Norman to stop, Dr. Shi had no choice but to walk to the control device and tap the keyboard with his fingers. After inputting the instructions, the device began to gradually atomize the two tubes of medicine and release them into the cultivation chamber.
"I will definitely succeed!" Norman said firmly after drinking the catalyst that would allow the enhancer to enter his blood faster. Norman looked at the green mist gradually spreading up from his feet, and his heart began to beat violently. As the mist spread throughout the training chamber, Norman felt that he was starting to have difficulty breathing. He clutched his neck in pain, his eyes beginning to turn white.
On the computer screen, it was clearly visible that Norman's muscles were gradually growing as the gas entered his body, and various data were also soaring.
"Norman? Norman, are you okay?" Dr. Shi looked at the cultivation chamber, which could no longer be seen directly with the naked eye, and asked, patting the glass of the chamber. Suddenly, an agonized scream echoed from within. The mist gradually dissipated, and the inside of the cultivation chamber became clearer. Norman was lying on the ground without any response.
"Norman!!" Dr. Shi was in a panic and hurried into the training chamber, performing CPR on Norman's chest. Suddenly, Norman opened his eyes, and his hand grabbed Dr. Shi's neck like lightning. Dr. Shi was easily lifted into the air without even reacting.
"It's not over!" Norman roared, then threw Dr. Shi out of the training chamber. The glass shattered instantly, Dr. Shi hit the wall, and the instruments on the way were also shattered. Norman looked at the pool of blood left by Dr. Shi's collision with the wall and showed a crazed smile. "Now I feel like I have been born again!"
"Ha ha ha ha!!!" Norman's wicked, maniacal laughter echoed throughout the lab.
