Chapter : Death & Reincarnation 2 (Re)
"So, you're finally awake!"
Suddenly, a voice sounded beside him, sending a shiver down his spine. Despite being on high alert, he wasn't able to sense any presence close to him.
Jumping back up to a few meters, he created distance between them enough to dodge any attacks.
Raising his head, his eyes landed on a young woman who seemed to be in her thirties with an hourglass figure. Her long blond hair was a little short to not touch the ground, just like a magnificent waterfall.
But Jason didn't find her beauty appreciating at all. On the contrary, he was feeling a little scared because his senses were giving dangerous vibes to him from the same beauty in front of him.
'This beautiful woman in front of me is not simple. She is giving me the same vibe given by that old master of mine. No! She is even scarier than him.'
His eyes turned sharp as he quickly searched around carefully with his eyes, searching for anything to use as a potential weapon.
Pfft!~
The blond woman smiled and said, her voice soothing to the listener. "You'll not find any weapon here."
'She saw through me!' Jason stared at her, his expression calm but deep in his heart, he started. 'I have to escape first.'
Making up his mind, he quickly turned around and fled from that place, escaping with everything he had.
"You can't leave." The woman spoke slowly with no intention of chasing after him.
Jason ignored her and ran as fast as he could.
After running for fifteen minutes, he finally stopped, gasping for breaths.
'What is going on? Why am I out of breath so fast? When did I become so weak?!... Well, at least, I escape from her. Just what in the hell was she?'
He looked back and saw no behind him, except the forest.
"You're back so quickly,"
Just as he relaxed to take a breath, that charming and soothing voice sounded again, almost giving him a heart attack.
Raising his head, he saw the same pavilion in front of his eyes. The blonde beauty was sitting in her chair, looking at her with a sweet smile.
'H-How?! How did I return here?!'
For the first time in his life, Jason's eyes were filled with dread. In his twenty-five years of assassin career, he had never experienced anything like this.
He quickly fled again, making sure he was going in a straight line without any tail behind him. But in the end, he still ended up in the same place.
No matter how much he tried, he failed to find an exit. In the end, he plopped down on the ground, tired from constantly running around.
"If you're tired, want to relax and have a chat." The blonde woman said with a sweet smile as she waved her hand and tea poured in two empty cups on the table beside her.
Jason could only sigh and walked over to her, plopping down on the bed. He looked at the tea and took a sip.
Just as the tea entered his mouth, it turned into gas and entered his body. A soothing feeling spread across his body, relaxing his tense muscles, his fatigue gone.
The woman continued to smile and said after taking a sip of her tea. "Do you not want to know who I am?"
"Hmm, I want to say no but I have a feeling that you're still going to tell me, am I right?"
"Hehehe, you're smart but also naive too. I haven't had so much fun in centuries watching you running like a child in my garden."
Pff!
Jason was sipping his tea when he almost choked, his face twitching. 'Centuries?! Come on sister, you barely look older than twenty-five years old.'
"You think so? You're really sweet." The woman's eyes lit up and she smiled, pinching his nose. "But I'm older than you think. Just how many millennials it has been?... Well, who cares."
She waved her hand and introduced herself. "I'm a Goddess! To be specific, The Goddess of Life and Death."
'Huh? Goddess of Life and Death? I have never heard about it. Well, it is not like I believe in them anyway. Just what is happening? Wait...'
Jason asked quickly, "You're a goddess? Then that means I'm dead?"
The woman nodded her head slowly.
"What about those bastards? Did they survive?"
The woman was amused by her words and chuckled. "You're an interesting one. Well, to answer your question, No, all of them died in the end."
Jason was relieved to hear that. "Thank God! Or it will have become the biggest regret and embarrassment of my whole life... Now, what is going to happen to me?"
"Normally you should have been sent to Hell to repent but due to your actions, you received many blessings. Not only that but you even saved many future tragedies from happening, receiving even more merit. It caused your good karma to far surpass your bad karma."
"So, what is going to happen to me now?" Jason asked, directly to the point.
"Well, you should be sent to Heaven but I have a proposal for you." The woman spoke.
"A proposal? What type of proposal?" Jason asked, cocking his eyebrow as he stared at her.
The woman spoke, "If you do two things for me, then I'll give you another chance at life."
"What type of things?" Jason asked carefully. Everything seemed too suspicious to him.
The goddess replied. "I'll tell you when the time is right."
Jason asked. "Why not now?"
"Because you're too weak!" She was blunt with her words.
Jason felt a little insulted but thinking about the situation he was in. He sighed and asked. "Are you a Goddess? Why am I having a vibe of the devil from you? Am I going to sell my soul to you or something?"
The blond woman asked, not caring about his feelings. "Hehe... No, it's not like that. So, do you want to accept my deal or do you want to go to heaven?"
"Fine, I accept. A devil like me will not find peace in Heaven." Jason said while keeping a few words deep inside his heart. 'I just hope I will not regret it later!'
The woman nodded her head and raised her hand, a golden light shot forth from her hand and landed on Jason.
Jason's body shone with rainbow light and ancient characters appeared all over his body. A sharp pain rose into dantan, almost unbearable but he still gritted his teeth forcing himself from screaming.
Badump badump badump...
Suddenly, the ancient texts all over his body were divided into two parts. The ones on the right side were deeply red colored akin to a demon writing, just like someone had inscribed them on his skin with a sharp weapon. It looked rather horrific. While the ones on the left had a golden aura around them opposite to the ones on the right, very pure and divine.
At the center of his chest, the ancient inscriptions intervened with each other and formed a small hole.
The blonde woman's eyes flashed with a peculiar light and she moved like lightning. A black colored orb appeared in her hand and she inserted it inside that hole.
The stone was akin to the missing piece of a puzzle, instantly fitting into the hole. All the inscriptions lit up with even brighter and darker red and golden lights.
Jason was completely oblivious to everything and was subjected to even more pain, being tormented by constant heat and cold. But even in that hell, he didn't scream even once.
At the end of the day, he was still a normal human, after enduring for over half an hour, he lost consciousness from the pain.
The process continued for over forty-five minutes before it ended.
The ancient character seeped back into his body.
The blond woman put down her hand, her face paled but her eyes had a firmness in them as she gazed at him lying down on the ground.
"I've fulfilled your last wish, Mother." The blond goddess stared at the sky and murmured. "Soon, I'll come to meet you at the place of the beginning and you've to give me the answers to my every question."
She raised her hand and a black portal appeared in the space in front of her. Waving her hand, she threw the unconscious Jason into the portal suspended into the air.
It closed soon after...
"Mother! Why are you going so far for that mortal?"
Just at this moment, a majestic and divine voice resounded in the garden followed by the appearance of another young blond woman, looking exactly like the first blond woman, just like a Xerox copy.
The Goddess of Life and Death smiled at the arrival of the newcomer. "Yan'er, you're back already."
The woman called Yan'er arrived near her and hugged her from behind. "Mother, don't change the topic. Please answer me. Why are you going so far for that prick?"
She gave a disdainful look and grumbled. "He is not worthy of those powers."
The Goddess shook her head and patted her daughter. "Don't speak that Yan'er! It's your grandmother's last cherished wish."
"But Grandma died millennia ago! Why would she tell you to pass your divine powers to a mere mortal?" Yan'er clamored.
The goddess shook her head. "No! It's my own decision."
"But why?"
"Because even I can't read his fate!"
"What?!" Yan'er cried out in horror. "I-It's impossible."
Her reaction was completely justified. After all, her mother was currently the empress of the Omniverse, an existence above a true God. Even her father couldn't hide his fate and thoughts from her.
She looked at her mother and shouted. "He is nothing but a mortal. How could it be possible?"
The goddess's eyes drifted to the position where Jason was moments ago and murmured. "Even after being tormented for over half an hour, he didn't scream once. It's not normal..."
'And there is a very powerful ancient energy hidden deep within his soul. Even I cannot touch him. Just who is that mortal that even my mother who died millenniums ago went out of her way for him? I just hope it will not bring disaster to the entire omniverse!'
Yan'er looked at her mother lost in her thoughts and turned her head at the empty garden.
