Wheel of Actual Fortune

Chapter 6: A Spark of Friendship

A silence permeates

"What are you?.....doing here?", Wincy gives a dubious look, having changed her question after a long pause.

Without any shame, the only response I gave is, "Reading, duh.", I must've had a stink-eating grin before I changed it up to recover losses, it was worth it by that way, "I'm kidding, the opening ceremony was a hassle, so I bailed."

Wincy pauses. She's a smart girl, so she connected some dots, "Kaizen....right?"

"Yours truly.", I give her a sly remark.

"Har har.", Wincy seems to avoid my gaze and looked at my books, as if she were more interested in what I was reading at this moment, but was she?

I decided to humor her 'apparent' interest, "Have you heard of bioelectricity?"

Wincy walks over, nodding her head.

"It's the electric currents running through out body. Even our DNA is charged, so is our body coordinating collectively because of that energy.

I've seen people deal with the nerves through shock to make people move involuntarily and other used vibrations to affect the brain is certain ways.", I described examples at the top of my head.

Wincy raised a brow, "That sounds a bit dangerous, don't you think?"

I chuckle, "That's cute compared to what I witnessed in Ezkavan. Having your body not belong to you runs true there, in more ways than one.", I shiver at my own traumatic memories. I'm sorry mom and dad, even when I have nothing to apologize for...

"Cybernetic enslavement, human herding, and slave trafficking to name a few.", My mouth babbled on before reforming back to not having a mouth. It returned to my dummy, which had been covering it's mouth for some time, in a contemplative posture to pass it off as real.

"I... see...", Wincy isn't one to know how to comfort, I guess. It's fine.

My two cyclops eyes reformed to a single being, still without features. My eyes formed crescent shapes at her display, "Don't worry, it's the reality of the world. A wise Runner once said we shouldn't always run, and one thing we mustn't run from the most is reality."

"So I think things like nerve shocks and involuntary control to the brain isn't so bad. I suppose I believe that weapons matter on who wields them, like the fact that someone carries a knife around can mean many things.", And I roll for persuasion. Hopefully, it works out positively.

Wincy pursed her lips. Now that I mention, my social deduction got better as I can now see micro expression more easily, the problem comes with knowing the context of these things.

Emotions come in different reasons, and people have different responses for different emotions.

If it's any comfort for me, I'm only ever trying to form friendships with them which means I have enough time to glean context over time.

Weirdly enough, I find Wincy to be very expressive facially rather than with her body, which kind of lowers her presence. If not for her beauty, I bet people wouldn't pay her any mind.

Is there a reason for that? There are too many to count, and it's best not to say if I can't narrow it down. Not everything needs to be learned and deducted, only the most important parts... or those that feed into my attention-deficit symptoms.

I can imagine it now though, she's that kind of girl up in her academics and feels stuffy so she'd like to go out, jacket and all, riding on a motorbike to clear her mind. Call it a man's intuition, don't you say? There's a high chance I'm wrong but I love to think about it.

"So are you going to sit with that or you're just dying to smack me?", I point at her who is still gripping on the chair, high in the sky. Must she have superstrength? It's possible, it makes some sense considering her concept...

Wincy nods, "I don't know, you guess.", She placed it down near the table, before trying to sit down.

"Wait up, you're not going back to the auditorium, are you?", I couldn't help but be confused.

"Who wants to be there anyway?", She got more comfortable for some reason as she groans on the table.

"No one wants to. But you don't have an excuse."

"Oh, sure I do.", Wincy really had no excuse so her sarcastic side showed up again.

"That's the spirit. Well, stay if you want. What's the worst that can happen?", I wasn't really opposed anyway. This academy is unlike others. Even if this is a governmental institution in essence, it's system is at times corrupt and at times lax.

This situation is of the latter, things of the former is also something I have to address at a future date.

Maybe when I do get a date? I unconsciously stared at Wincy and then laughed at myself self-mockingly.

"What are you staring for?", Wincy caught me looking. Eh, I caught myself lacking first anyway.

Whatever the case, those things are for the future. I have to save everyone's hide first.

"Nothing really. I thought someone like you would be the type to follow rules.", I lied, I just wanted a reaction out of her.

"Not if it has no point.", She places a hand on her cheek, frowning.

"I guess you have a point.", My lips twitched at my own reply, I've been reading silently too trying not to mind my own terrible jokes.

Oh, I love them, it's just a part of me that I won't stop.

"That's awful.", I smile at Wincy's remark, paying her no mind as she took one of the books I had over, specifically about bioelectricity and modern medical technology.

Safe to say, I went home scoring a new friend.

...

Safe to say, I had to cover for her too when attendance came up. I signed for her of course.

All in all, I kind of enjoyed the first day of school. Well, I'm not dead, am I? That's an exaggeration, but don't think I'm still not paranoid about Dystopia.

I got another roll from the system and guess what I got?

[ You have drawn 'Poison Gas' from 'My Hero Academia' ]

At this point I technically have more powers from villains than heroes. If we count Cyan Sung-Sun as an enemy at one point in the bleach manga, it's 3 to 1.

Poison Gas was modified slightly from the original power, but it's essence stay the same. Which is why I'm accumulating it's power at this moment.

I have to say, It's a convenient generator.

With my bag slung on one of my arms, I walk through the city with a little more ease than I expected, and little more bounce in my step.

Admiring the bustle of the night and night's lights out of the street. I can slowly see the city become more dilapidated the further I go from the center.

I had a goal in mind, and that meant I had to go to a risky area, the outer zone of Bronco.

Bronco city wasn't that bad of a place compared to any other city in this planet, but that didn't mean it was entirely safe due to the villainy.

If I were to describe it, there were villain districts in the outer zone like in Villain to Kill and half ridden cities just like Hero Killer. Damned be the villain society.

While my hate for the villains are there. I wasn't blind to the obvious corruption of the heroes, too.

And boy does my blood run cold on how deep it gets. Truly the dystopia that the Gu Kiseong wanted.

Suddenly, a red rope suddenly found it's way around my neck before hanging me up and strangling me.

A man met me while hanging upside down with his foot stuck to the same rope, "What are you doing here kid? Didn't your parents tell you not to run around these parts? You might kill yourself. AHAHAHHAHAH!"

I didn't answer since a rope was literally trying to choke me to death.

"See! You're killing yourself now. How unfortunate, suicide rates jump high around young kids, especially boys who do risky stuff like this!", He kept laughing.

I confirmed to myself that he was a lunatic. So I stopped bothering to pretend.

Indifference + Zangerin

Molding Black Shadow Stone into a sword, I immediately made an energy wave the shot out around me.

It not only decapitated the senile man but it also blasted through his flesh as a plus one. The plus two is that Zangerin is a hado, which means it's original attributes are targeted to the soul.

You're hit? So is your soul! The best part is that the soul works differently in this world. It's basically the worst kind of torture to subject someone to wounds in the soul.

Dropping down, the rope tied around my neck reveals it to be in all black. I barely felt the strangulation.

From afar, I could see a few people, who didn't bother hiding themselves, back off.

And I bet many more in the shadows did too. I'll hunt them down soon enough, I just need to right powers to do so.

Returning back to normal, I slung my bag again. I think it was a bad idea to bring it but there's no way in hell I'm turning back now.

Let's see where you are, Revengers.
