Chapter 228: Chapter 228: The Battle Begins
After switching off the radar, He Kui emerged from the room to find Shi He and Su Lei waiting just outside, looking at him with amused expressions.
"Had fun playing around?" Shi He asked.
"We're not kids! And this place isn't exactly an amusement park!" Su Lei shot back.
"Well, Lei Lei does act a bit like a kid sometimes," Shi He teased, earning an indignant glare from Su Lei.
"I do not... Shi He and I are the same age!"
"Ahem, so... are you two sure it's wise to slack off right in front of your boss?" He Kui cut in with a smirk.
"We've finished our work, unlike someone hiding in there pretending to be busy," Shi He replied with a grin.
"Exactly!" Su Lei echoed.
"...I was actually working on a new frame design."
"Sure you were," Su Lei teased, while Shi He added with a knowing smile, "Enough talk, let's eat. I made some papaya milk from the plants in the garden."
"Papaya milk?" The words caught He Kui's attention, and his gaze instinctively shifted to Su Lei's chest.
"Are you implying...?"
"Go to hell!" Su Lei huffed, grabbing Shi He's hand and pulling her away.
Watching the two of them walk ahead, He Kui felt a calmness settle over him. Tomorrow, he would find out more about the Cyclops system and Creuset's plan.
The next morning, after another round of sparring with Shi He and Su Lei, He Kui finally woke up. The system data hadn't changed, though he now had some information on the Zeta Gundam's schematics—just enough to be of minimal help. Smiling, he gave the two women a light kiss before getting up from bed.
"You're up early," Shi He murmured, stirring as she noticed him.
"Had a spark of inspiration. I'll be staying in the radar room today."
"Alright. Take some canned food with you just in case."
"Got it," he replied, chuckling as he made a quick breakfast before heading to the radar room. By the time he returned, the two were fast asleep again, wrapped in each other's arms, leaving no room for him in bed.
With a small laugh, He Kui went to his radar room, where Aegis still lay hidden within the transport container, its doors sealed for security.
"All set. Let's go."
Taking a deep breath, he gazed at the endless expanse of the sea on his screen, reminding himself he couldn't actually smell the ocean. After all, Aegis had no scent sensors, only air analyzers, and the airtight container he was in had no airflow.
He activated the small thrusters on the container, guiding it toward Alaska. With some idle time on his hands, He Kui continued tinkering with his gadgets, focusing on nano robots and field modulation since they didn't affect his Zeta Gundam project progress.
After several hours, he arrived just off the coast of Alaska. The sun was high in the sky, and as the transport container doors opened, the black GINN inside was revealed alongside a GU Flyer.
"All systems are green," he confirmed, though the latency was still noticeable. Turning off the AI delay compensation, he piloted the GINN, causing the container to sway and send waves rippling around him as he stood tall. In the bright sky, the single red eye of the black GINN gleamed ominously, casting an aura of dark majesty.
Yet in reality, his GINN wasn't armed; it was outfitted with mining lasers—useful but weak. Thick armor would take multiple hits to pierce, so he had to avoid direct combat.
Following his plan, He Kui carefully activated the Mirage Colloid and moved the GINN toward the nearby waterfall. He ditched the GU Flyer before finding a spot to conceal himself.
The area around the waterfall was lightly guarded, with four beam turrets and five missile launchers, but there were no signs of enemy MS units nearby.
After a while, his radar picked up an approaching MS: a commander-type white GINN, drawing near.
The sight of Creuset's GINN brought a frown to He Kui's face. He'd prepared to account for failure, but seeing Creuset's MS up close, he realized his mining laser wouldn't even scratch its armor. And with Creuset's GINN equipped with anti-Mirage Colloid sensors, his stealth wouldn't last long.
Giving up on the idea of
ambushing Creuset, He Kui resolved to follow him stealthily.
