Who is Playing the Love Development Game in Gundam

Chapter 230: Chapter 230: The Sudden Appearance of a Gundam

The command center was completely abandoned, with only the occasional flicker of emergency lights illuminating the dark corridors. He Kui trailed Creuset from a distance, following him as he moved confidently into the main control room.

He Kui didn't dare get too close; after all, who knew how Creuset's uncanny "human radar" worked? Both Mu and Creuset were essentially "Newtypes" in this world, with abilities He Kui still didn't fully understand. The earlier incident had been a clear lesson—he needed to proceed with extreme caution.

He Kui veered off from the main path and ducked into a side corridor. The Archangel's arrival at Alaska hadn't changed, meaning it was still regarded as a disposable asset. Mu should be here as well. Yet, with the high latency and his lack of familiarity with the terrain, He Kui wasn't confident he could relay the intel on his own.

Even if he could seize a fighter jet, it would be nearly impossible to navigate through the chaotic battlefield. With just a small fighter, his limited piloting skills would be of little help.

But then again, reaching the Archangel would make disseminating information challenging. Despite the computational power of his small base, the distance between PLANT and Earth, coupled with the neutron jammers, meant communication was nearly impossible. Judging from the delays he experienced while piloting, hacking into the Archangel's firewall with Aegis' onboard systems was out of the question. And even if he made it to the Archangel, how would he escape afterward? His entire operation might get exposed, and even though he had a good rapport with the princess, Orb wasn't entirely her domain.

"If only my GINN were still intact…"

Just as he weighed his options, one of the reconnaissance Haros he had deployed miraculously re-established a connection. To his surprise, it had mapped out an entire route, uncovering another hidden passage behind a nearby waterfall. Under AI control, the Haro had autonomously explored the area, eventually reconnecting with him.

In the images sent back, He Kui saw a pristine Gundam model—blue in color, resembling the Strike in design. It lay dormant in a large hangar, about 500 meters beneath him, right next to a separate tunnel leading to another exit behind a waterfall. The blue exterior and a backpack resembling Justice's support flyer made it clear this was an atmospheric Gundam, perfect for his needs.

"Why would they leave a Gundam here?" He Kui wondered aloud.

No one was around to answer his question. For now, he had another possible escape route. However, reaching the hangar required bypassing a set of secured doors. Hacking them was within his capability but would be time-consuming. The ventilation ducts, while narrower than an average person's waist, offered a more feasible option.

Though too tight for a human, Aegis' robotic form could manage. By locking its limbs straight and using its rear thrusters for propulsion, He Kui could navigate through the ducts.

Just as he made up his mind, a sharp gunshot rang out from the direction of the main control room, echoing through the enclosed corridors.

Mu was here.

After waiting a moment and hearing no further shots, He Kui activated Aegis' thrusters and sped towards the control room.

Once there, he quickly accessed the computer and downloaded all the information on the Cyclops system. Oddly, retrieving this information was far easier than expected—perhaps Creuset had already disabled some of the security protocols, leaving him an unintentional backdoor.

This wasn't a mere file; it was a complete set of data, including the Cyclops system's kill radius and projected casualty estimates. With this evidence, he might be able to convince ZAFT to halt their attack, at least temporarily.

Storing the data in Aegis' memory, He Kui navigated through the maze-like base, finally reaching Haro's location.

He Kui contorted Aegis into a cone shape, sliding into the ventilation duct in a way no human could manage. With thrusters engaged, he maneuvered downward to the hangar level.

And there it was—the blue Gundam, lying dormant in the expansive warehouse, almost as if it had been forgotten.

"If this really is a Strike variant…" He Kui muttered as he ran his hand over the cockpit hatch. After a moment's search, he found a lever on the side and pulled it. With a satisfying click, the cockpit door opened.

"So easy to steal… Some things never change."

He Kui quickly climbed inside, noting that the controls resembled the previous Strike models. After bypassing the limited security protocols, he found the unit's specifications displayed on the screen.

The model was designated GAT-333, an aerial variant of the Strike with a support flyer, similar to Justice's backpack. In flight mode, the unit could transform, with the support flyer extending beneath it, resembling a biplane. The design seemed tailored for long-range aerial missions.

Unfortunately, the support flyer wasn't equipped with quantum communication, meaning it couldn't return like Justice's backpack. Once launched, the flyer wouldn't come back.

The blue exterior wasn't due to a lack of PS armor; rather, it was equipped with the energy-efficient TP armor, similar to the Raider Gundam.

Skimming through the manual, He Kui found the reason this Gundam had been left here: the OS was incomplete. Due to its transformation system and complex flight mechanics, it was too difficult for the average pilot to handle without OS support.

"Was it left here for testing?"

The documents suggested it was a specialized prototype. Judging by its specs, it was likely one of several units built by the Alliance.

"Leaving something so valuable here… They must have resources to burn."

He Kui powered up the unit. The blue Gundam rose from its platform, the thrusters on its back flaring to life. Switching to biplane mode, He Kui surged forward, the Gundam racing down the tunnel and towards the waterfall exit.

The cascade parted as the Gundam burst through, the roar of its engines briefly overpowering the sound of the falling water. In a flash, the blue Gundam left only a streak of light in its wake.
