Winning Him Over

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Alive as His Person, Dead as His Ghost_1

By the time the butler, Lin, reached the doorway, Lu Fengxuan spoke nonchalantly, "Hold on, I'll come down later. Let Lu Sirong wait."

Lin, the butler, was taken aback by her sudden change of mind, hesitated for a moment, then left with a nod.

Outside the door, she suspiciously stared at the door, thinking to herself how odd it was that the air about this ineffectual lady had become so imposing. The matter Miss Lu mentioned seemed to warrant further contemplation.

Reflected in the mirror was a pale yet charming visage.

Lu Fengxuan applied her makeup while sorting through her memories, clearly not giving much thought to Lu Sirong, who was waiting downstairs.

In her past life, when she married Yu Chiyin, it was not out of free will, but because upon returning from the countryside, she had been trapped by Lu Sirong, losing her virtue to him and subsequently becoming perplexingly pregnant.

At the time, owing to a life-saving favor, she held a secret affection for Jiang Che, who was also his nephew.

Having lost her love, Yu Chiyin blackmailed her with the Lu family's situation to marry him, leading her to despise him. After their marriage, she was constantly at odds with him, even going as far as to physically harm him during intense arguments.

Now, upon reflection, she realized that almost every argument had been orchestrated with the malicious intent of Lu Sirong and Jiang Che.

Jiang Che, ambitious and covetous of the Yu Group's inheritance, could not openly contend with Yu Chiyin, so he repeatedly used her as a pawn, with Lu Sirong at his side, scheming.

She was foolish to have fallen repeatedly for their tricks, ultimately causing the death of the man who had favored her most in this world!

She remembered that in her previous life, Lu Sirong had secretly won over the butler, Lin.

But observing the butler, Lin's behavior just now, it seemed he had not yet accepted a bribe from Lu Sirong – in that case, she might as well take the opportunity to win him over to her side.

Downstairs in the living room, Lu Sirong, having waited for nearly half an hour, was gradually becoming impatient.

"Did sister encounter another problem? Butler Lin, don't stop me, let me go up and find her."

As Lu Sirong stood and pushed past Butler Lin, she had just stepped onto the staircase when rhythmic footsteps sounded from above.

Lu Fengxuan appeared, her figure ethereal, within her line of sight.

Her light, natural makeup greatly enhanced her complexion, complementing the knee-length floral dress she wore, simple yet casual and domestic.

A flash of jealousy flitted through Lu Sirong's eyes, but she quickly replaced it with a worried expression, speaking anxiously.

"Sister, I heard you had an accident, so I rushed over worriedly, but Yu Ye would not let me see you. It scared me to death, thank goodness you're alright."

Lu Fengxuan quietly watched her act, and when she reached out to take her arm, Fengxuan dodged away in disgust.

Lu Sirong was taken aback, but she didn't dwell on this minor anomaly.

She walked over to stand beside Lu Fengxuan and, glancing at a few servants nearby, whispered with a lowered voice, "Sister, you've made such a great sacrifice; did Yu Ye agree to let you off?"

Despite Lu Sirong's convincing façade, her eyes betrayed her excitement.

She was clearly eager to see the relationship between Fengxuan and Yu Chiyin fall apart.

In her past life, Fengxuan had been blind not to see through Lu Sirong's clumsy ploys, foolishly letting them lead her by the nose.

In the end, it even led to Yu Chiyin's untimely demise.

Thinking of this, a fierce light grew in Lu Fengxuan's eyes, and she decided to provoke Lu Sirong intentionally.

She displayed a shy smile, "No, he said I belong to him for this lifetime, in life I am his person, in death, his ghost."

"Yu Ye doesn't even care about your life; he's too cruel," Lu Sirong was incited, her voice rising sharply.
