Chapter 140: 136 Watching the shoreline
The elevator has angels plastering the walls. Afraid of her at the middle. Her clothus skins folds neatly as a drapes and the door opens for her. She bumps shoulders with random angels. Making progress strides to the court room of soulless empty angels.
Most vessels are completely absorbed to watch her with instinctive fear. Some cover ears and cowards at the floor, feeling madness from her soul voice. The judges above drool blue blood at how she takes seat. Seeing the table that was the inexcusable angel demons school alliances being occupied now.
She smacks the paper on the table and it altered into crystal floating information for all presentation. She sits as a human, leaning back. Feet up, tilting in the chair. Ignoring the Latin biblical versing and screams of angels. Eyeballs of these angels blink to the point of bleeding in having peered into the veil beyond her human shape. Plenty of the room is up turned for her just showing up and sitting down. That everything they thought will go, will not now. None of the plans will work. Now that she is here in the defense of the alliance.
"I guess while I am here." She waved her ranker requests to the sigil system. She began shadow delivery of all these files needing angelic touch. From Hell pardons to messages that never got received. It's plenty of court information to scale away from this alliance case. She has a whole box of god court cases files that is placed on a sorter table, broken open the rune and left there. The lesser angels are quick to pick and spread everything. Finally angelic court hunters are being sent off for proper jobs they should be concerned about. Leana finally is comfortable, half laying the table.
"You need to leave." A human shape one approached and clearly of named rank.
"Time is faster here." She assumes that was the concern but it more the nerve fraying she causes them all. Even so, she completed whole lifetimes of cases. Many that are time glitched and have at unsolved due to angelic regulations. So many lives are about to be shuffled and many god faiths will face a time of uncertainty. But the creaks of where things went wrong are healing. The way the laws of concept this universe relies on are working stronger and more are being used to its demands.
Before setting off out of this realm, she trades and sells. She gets hands on a lot of divine properties and plenty of new materials to wear as clothing. Repairs of many tools and replacing those beyond use. She leaves the divine world with purity. Strong wings that place her not back to the school of St August but the Mages company in the shopping mall that serves as mage village.
She takes a seat at a Cafe, sitting alone. Ordered a tea which arrived by a damned in mock human. She stares listless to the many souls and creatures hidden among. Aware of always being ready. None of the vessels that is Omens took awareness of her. No mage was looking her way. Really turly just an existence without presence. No ties. She rings the cup by finger around the rim, looking in as it vibration unsettled the tea clouding inside.
"Where is your family?" She paused her current actions to look up at the young man. She studies the clothing and his manners. The danger that clings around him. Without fail the three eye Omens on black bird to land and hiss at her.
"Miss you to Taz." She laughed and ignored them, "It doesn't matter where my family are. I am just a lost one." She goes to start the tea ring again but he stops her with hold her hand. She sighed and doesn't react at all to how everyone else does. He be hit or shouted at. He normally find hands slipped away quickly with some talk of manners. But it's her left hand and she not afraid of him.
"She's a nightmare in human shape. Leave her. She's not worth it."
"Not worth it? The other half of Ender isn't worth it. Rude Taz. Very. This is the only universe that requires us as a pair to enact such title." It's his hand to nearly loose grip, "I am not afraid because I understand. I will go as you need me." She stares with taking equal grasp of that hand and tracing his blank shock, "It will seem the title left you behind again. I guess you just weren't bending enough." She breaks the hold and stands up. She stares at his runes another way and double checked his necklace cord of religious relics. She cast a wave of adjusting them all and adding several more.
"What happened to the undertakers realms?" He blurts out.
"Hidden as they have always should be. Not gone." She throws her left hand in statement that he asked to much, her foot steps tap a sort of comments his postion among mages and that Omens was being to rude. Her eyes traced Mattus own gaze and break with being not wanting to talk history over again. She faced the enrty of students in her uniform and smoothed herself among them. Putting herself at the side of the headmasters.
"It was boring there. The soulless always are." She voiced calmly and they each at turn look at her.
"Leana. You... how did you." The demon stuttered.
"How does one fly with so many sins?" The angel currently is the higher one from the last. But matches authority as the demon.
"Repentance." She shurgs, "You should give it a go. Angels loose feathers instead of taking chains." She pokes the wings, "These need divine blessing." Her touch was plenty enough at restoring them, "You shouldn't allow human judgement to cloud your own. You angels are fragile in the schemes of children." She caught a spell casting of the student behind and returned the curses back over all that made them. Backfiring the magic to them. The worst offender nose bleeds and used the crowd to hide. She narrows them regardless and they turned in shock.
"Miss Clothus, isn't there a law against you exist among humans?" The Seer sneers.
"Sorry cousin that your so impure; you're not even worthy to tome handle." She retorts back and left them burning. She shuffled aside to take hide in shadow as appraoch of those she marked. All those times she marked those souls that is her duty to watch aren't meant to see her anymore.
"I am only really see some disappointing futures here." Joseph is much older now and held that air of strength. A wise but mischievous undertone. He peers about soul aura and lingers at knowing something is amiss. That her aura felt off for him and he knew this return gaze from his nightmares.
"A lost student has returned from a divine trip from angel court." The demon steps blocking the strange long pause, "I assume you will provide lunch." Everyone is soon guided to the up stairs school rooms in the upper 3rd floor. Leana waved those she left on shock. Particularly Mattu and Omens.
"Mattu." A delivery of items that been confiscated by angels before and documents of Sigil requests that omens follower needed heed of. He stares deeply of the sheer amount items that came back and look back of the students being given back their hunter sigil gear. Mattu felt fate tie threads.
"Go for the chase." Cold prickles brushed his neck and he assumed it was Omens. He barely makes four steps before he was caught in some mage royal game. Omens squares the damned mask of Ender. Mirroring how the brothers of Mage royalty are at fists at the floor. Mattu is forced to settle matters here.
"Sorry what? My sister?" Joseph speaking to the crow with deaths message, "Why are you sending me to hand mail to her?"
"Not your actual sister. The cousin." He even more confused, "Leana."
"She is currently in a boarding school and failing grades." He laughed and is pecked hard.
"You are the clueless one." The bird coos, "Just take the follower of Omens with."
Joseph rolls eyes, arm hooks Mattu and glares at the fighting mages. They all knew him and stop instantly. They stare in wonder why Mattu is being taken away and not one of them.
"That idiot." All humans can't see undertakers without a host body to act in. So it was Pride having to take whomever possible and give chase of Mattu. She assumes that Joseph had beef.
"So why would my fake sister be here? She's not magic able. If anything, she is mute. Never spoke to anyone but grandpa. When he died, she opened up better but in a way it was much worse by then. She needed going to speical needs school."
"Someone with a masters degree needs what now?" The crow is at disbelief, "She really has tricked her whole family. That's is impressive. Even the Seers aren't picking for her access into the tomes. What a monster."
They make it to closing elevator door, the cling of the Ender mask hiding in reflection making it's own study of this bunch. The door opened sooner and someone enters in with confused of the collective in here. Making it up to the same floor. The teacher finds this whole group following to the students. Mat takes back his arm and walks himself.
"The st August students arrived for the magic craft classes and regular magic ability scoring." The teacher using this to speak up to them all.
"So a bunch of Seers, Fallowns, Darkwood and the youngest Glader in public eye are in one room."
"As are 14 other students that been returned from being lost. 9 are normal people that got caught between some demon mess. There a clothus too. But it claims to be human enough." Elevator opened and everyone rushed to enter the same class room. Indeed there is a clothus flaunting it's humanity. Arguing at the Darkwoods over a contract change. But it's not working.
"Some other clothus as already labeled you as a worthless soul. They have such a rank to out cast my judgement." The clothus sighed exasperated over the child.
"What is that?" A normal person asking about the clothus and plenty shrug unsure.
"She did it again." The angel headmaster hissed, "How does one melt into air?"
"Well... she's a Seer and a Fallown. She might have just evaded perception." The demon huffed and they both turn to the crowd that enters, "Jeckel. Of course, you would be here to talk to her. Follower of Omens." There a long pause of the others, "Undertaker Pride." The shuffle of everyone making room from the door.
"Basic exam. Here the rules." The teacher that entered is handing them out. It's mage language and will have half the room stumped. Leana blended in and takes the paper and magic cast. She sent it to the front of the room by wind magic and stood among the others. The clothus had a disturbing moment of being swallowed by darkness, screaming and clawing the desk. The sound of that clothus in the corridor as location changed for it still screaming. Speaking loudly of some death language that wasnt this universe use. The screams ended and they came back to the room. Roughed up and panting, sitting down at a desk and holding it's face.
"That there is a mark of Noturm." Joseph lowered with checking the clothus over, "It means your soul isn't visible mark in the tome. But you are accounted. This isn't always a great thing. You will be targeted by the monsters of Sigil." Pats shoulder, "It's fine. At least Ragnar isn't here." He chuckles.
"You are a fool Joseph." Spoke the thing at the desk between them, "I suspect she isn't interested to talk. Leave you in the dark like always." The chubby cat began cleaning his paws and lazing half hearted sweeps at the clothus. Mostly playing with the clothus eatheral aura.
"Morpheus." Joseph standing up and looking around confused, "You are here in the human side." He peers all sorts of places and to each student but even when facing her. He unable to see it as her. Although, not anyone would blame him. Having returned from a divine place, her entire body and soul is current in purification. Her hair is at its more natural it had ever been and all that pain lacked even a trace in eye or scar. No hands held at her front and no glitter of dark expression behind the poker face. She has not intention of harm or bad karma.
"The mistress is sleeping." Morpheus rolled back to feet and a hard thud with landing at the floor, "You are all blind. It's almost terrible. Watching worms wiggle between claws." Morpheus takes walk and brushed surfaces on his way past, "I am hungry. You might have fishy. I want some fishy." He thrashed full weigh at her feet. She was unmoved by the act. She lowered down to the cat and lifted him properly supporting his body. She rolls him to baby pose and free hand feed him a meat cude.
She loves all the same and smooth away all the impurities over this creature. Once every last part was of the creatures true being, he was returned to the dream worlds by her soft lowering to her shadow cloth. As it was turly visible now that that half the room is shrouded in the fleshy material then actually shadow itself. It moved to sink back underneath her, and left behind was a room that is spotless and repaired. No gum underneath table and no dent from the door knobs. Papers stacked, sticky notes and graded. Text books restored and neat as if the day of print. They all looked around and all end to her. She has hands behind back and beams a warm smile. With tilt of head, she moved all the back row chairs aligned.
"One grows bored." She straighten up and walks unhindered by the desks before her. Right up to Joseph, "What did he tell you to tell me this time?" She speaks of the death orders tongue, not a accent out of place.
"His in need of a training ground for his eldest talent. I did try to ask if he meant one of the grim but he said you know." Her smile twisted in a back cold way but she twirls at the spot. Her hair flicks him. The next back row of desks aligned and moved to measurement.
"Great enough to ask me to give them some soulless to gut." She purred with cup hand to cheek, "I am so happy that he wants to trust me with that. I need to fetch my fullest child." She paced about with distant staring.
Another row of desks clatter. All the students have now moved away to the safety of the front. Plenty have hide behind the demon and others beings. Others stand with magic ready or weapons that they shouldn't have.
"Leana can you stop cleaning the room and pay attention." Joseph reached around and shook her. A chair currently fell backwards. It was likely the chair she was just repairing screws with.
"Easy there." She pushed hands off her. The majority of the room slowly returned to their seats. She is pushed to take a front row. She leans in deep thought over the dilemma of what to bring to a practicing death god for soul reaping. That isn't breaking any law or the loss if divine presence for them. She cast eyes in remembering something of a request that the Ender accepted which was to sort a god eater in another's universe. Going by the lacking Ender title here... it left Mattu as a host behind. She then knew where exactly to knock two birds with one stone.
"Joseph." She waved him over in taking his scythe from his belt, "I will be right back." He couldn't even stop her as it was so swift a notion for her to remove her own soul using the scythe. There isn't a wound or a death per say. Just that there was no lights home beyond the curtains. He panic with pulling her to lay the floor and take the scythe out slowly. In shock, he almost tried to block blood of the nonexistent wound. But he grasps the scythe in realizing what she done and the sheer changes of her whole appearance. She aged rapidly to how she should have been, not the student she was a second ago. Before long there was a deep gasp and her instant reaction to turn aside. Vomiting black liquid across the floor. She labour's breathing a while. Looking at her older looking hands but lack of changed clothing. At least everything that needed covering is.
"You're an idiot." He exclaims at her, "This isn't a normal knife!" She stares him in equality. Wipes away the vomit and drool of her lips. She took in his words with having to figure out the translation. Once it rings thought, she eye rolls him and got off the floor. She slaps him across the face for good measure.
"You tell Death that I will gladly provide his request where his finds confident to take his promising ones. I suspect at least all of them. Open invite for thier mother." He stares at her with wanting to react. But there a cold depth that wasn't there before. He had second thoughts. She had to shake him now, he left her grip and took a summon gate through to the destination. She steadily stood with looking at the floor and her hands. The ink stains and trembling of her nerves. She shakes off the notion and brought from storage a coat. She puts it on and looked around the room with trying to recall this situation.
"Leana." She cast a restoration over the place around her mess, the spell dragging it to herself. The ink seeping back into her veins. Uniform hugging tight. She took off the current shoes and goes bare foot. She closed her hands in canceling the spell work.
"Before you say it." She pointed at the room, "I am just some cursed crazy woman. Not a demon or monster." She holds her lacking human wound and takes steps out of there.
"Not again." Mattu being really the only one at the rush with stopping her collaspe.
"So there is like a worse outcome if you didn't catch her?" The undertaker glares down.
"Yeah. We all be killed and by them." Pointed backwards at the corridor. The mage teacher is the brave soul to peer at the doorway. Of corpse man stood there not able to walk in without permission. It breaths heavy and stinks up the place. Everyone pulled away at fear of the creature.
"His just the visible one." Mattu further adds, "Come on Eliza. Not nap time." Trying to get her awake. The brave creatures try to take turns at reaching her or getting attention. When a vessel of Omens came forth with a glass bottle dumped over her. She was instantly awake and all the creatures scattered to the wind.
"Well damn. You're a living human at the moment." She have slurs words and pats Mattu side, "Such a gentleman." She slowly is falling back to sleep and at least for now. The threats are gone. Omens vessel stood with inspecting the bottle in hand. He looked to someone not visible and shrugs. Posed hand of this outcome.
"Your dog took one of my vessels." She heard plain and clear.
"Ugh... Which dog?" She groans, "Was it chasing you and pushing you places?" She heard no reply a while, "Was it a statue that moved?" No voice reply and she huffed, "Was it a version of yourself borrowing your vessel to fix something?"
"No but that's happened a few times." He right up at her, "snakes." She frowns.
"Then it isn't a dog." She snaps, "Ragnar is a literal pile of black scale god eaters with a hive mind." She can't seem to be able to get her body to move at her will. She huffed at this inconvenience and warps her clothus skin around each jointed area. Before long she is steady enough to stand, and takes herself to the corridor properly. She makes a long duration of strange sounds. Once whatever she done was achieved, her right hand slips a stone through the invisible vessel. Returning the soul back.
He in return marked her with sighing. As for a man of his word, doesn't cheat others as he doesn't allow others to cheat him. Left a letter too, a location of meeting and time. She smiled of how proud a father death has became, a neat touch his wife manages to sneak her own slip in too. Either way, leana can only feel respect and uphold that thread shared between mortal and God. A prayer of hope and safety.
The mail tucked to shadow swiftly and looking at herself. A cast of mage magic in pulling material into a better dress. She throws the hood up and peers about the classroom she left stunted. The sound of them moving on without her. Getting on with separation of those that will keep a secret and those that will have memories erased. Those needing training of contorl and those that will be returned back to a state of normal once the curse over them is erased.
Each soul has a story. A journey. A tie and bonds to cut. She lingers the window looking in at the deal and felt the echos of times past. Seeing years between eye blinks. She had been stood outside the classroom many time before. Years of struggles and having to work hard to met at the same level as others. She stares with being so grounded and more pressure then anyone ever had to. Her reflection of her lost guarded expression made her think otherwise, having to remove her clothus face a moment to observe without filter. But still... it mattered not what eyes she uses. A distance is always there.
"Leana Seer." She puts the mask back on and listened to the undertakers nearby.
"I prefer my mother's side. Fallown." She corrects and flicked hand to stamp seal information they are collecting, "I have my rights as an oath Cog to withdraw unnecessary knowledge. You don't want to draw in the nightmares that hide in darkness." She smiles in how she can make clay doll undertakers feel emotional for fractions of a second. When they otherwise shouldn't be affected by such, they functionally lost it from no longer being humans. So that fraction is proof they are souled beings. She couldn't be more comfortable to know other souls are nearby and can be affect by her. Not the ghost of erasing soul names. That change makes impacts that make her feel part of everything. It is beautiful. It's nice to be part of something.
"Oath Cog..." Pride hissed, "That's why your able to play among God courts. A clothus."
"Pride. Same as always. You don't even change much despite all that is." Leana holding her mask ease with aligned to be basically holding her own chin. There a deep trade in staring. It is Pride to back down in fear and move away. Leana back to staring the classroom, "The vessel of death and the top 50 reapers are in my tome care. As are the true heir of Glader, Darkwood, Fallowns and Seer. Matthew when his not mad at me, is also in my tomes. There are plenty other pocket realms and hidden in my domain. But that's above your profile. I am simply the one that watches those inside and the wall keeping those unwelcomed outside. These aren't even the will of mine or any law by any mundane gods." She takes steps leaving the window looking in and began to start trying to leave. Pride makes attempts to follow but slams herself into a wall. As Leana evades them with shadow. Unfinished business.
