World of Longevity

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: The Mysterious Giant Ape_1

Fine strands of green light circulated within Xiao Chen's body with each of his breathe, overflowing with vitality. His flesh and blood, internal organs, and bones, felt as though they were imbued with boundless life force.

As time passed, the vital essence of the plants in all directions started to converge here. The green life energy around Xiao Chen became visible to the naked eye, casting a misty green fog around him.

Xiao Chen was bathed in a subtle green light, feeling energized in his internal organs and blood vessels. The atmospheric essence from the lush forest was rich beyond measure, seemingly inexhaustible.

He could distinctly sense the tiny green clouds of light joyfully moving inside his body much like a stream flowing time and again. His body was not only filled with vitality but was uplifted in spirits too.

Xiao Chen lost his sense of time, completely merging with nature. His mind and body seemed to unify with the dense forest, as though he could hear the whispers of the trees and grass, feel the pulse of the forest, and become part of it.

In the gentle breeze, the scent of various plants wafted through the woods, Xiao Chen found himself in a state of content oblivion.

The Little Unicorn Sacred Beast sneakily came over. It particularly liked the feel of the spiritual mist around, the luminescent tip of its jade horn sparkling, savoring the condensed essence of the vegetation.

Xiao Chen had grown accustomed to the divine demeanor of Little Sky Horse and didn't intend to disturb the Little Holy Beast. He was happy to let it join him. Especially since the Little Unicorn Sacred Beast had saved his life, eliminating any intentions of taming it from his heart, choosing instead to live in harmony.

The sun gradually shifted westward, the sky covered in a beautiful sunset, Xiao Chen came out of his mysterious realm. The essence of the plants in the forest benefited his body greatly. The green life energy nourishing his injured body, helping him recover smoothly.

Little Sky Horse didn't immediately leave. It leaped onto an ancient tree, blinking its lustrous black eyes at Xiao Chen.

Xiao Chen flashed a small smile, aware that the Little Holy Beast was less guarded against him. He washed the gathered fruits in a clear spring and threw them towards the tree on which the horse was perched.

Little Sky Horse was always ready to run away, but it saw a pineapple thrown in the air. It jumped up to catch it in its mouth but, being a picky eater, it only took a small bite before discarding it under the tree.

Xiao Chen continued to toss fruits, but the Little Unicorn Sacred Beast would only take a few small samples, showing less interest in the tender fruits. However, as soon as it saw Xiao Chen prepare to grill some meat, it ran away in a puff of smoke.

The flickering flames illuminated the forest as the game meat turned golden brown, with a tantalizing fragrance wafting through the forest.

Suddenly an echoing cry resounded, coming from afar and quickly approaching. From the thick bushes beneath a small peak, more than a dozen agile beast shadows swept through the tree canopy, launching themselves eight or nine meters into the air with a mere touch on the branches, demonstrating extreme agility.

In a matter of moments, more than a dozen beast shadows stormed this territory. However, their destination wasn't this small peak, but a Chaotic Stone Forest about two to three hundred meters away. The tall, robust figures appeared stunning in the setting sun.

They were various Giant Apes, each about three meters tall, covered in black hair, appearing particularly horrifying. No normal apes could ever reach this size, making it clear that these were some rare species. There was no doubt that the Chaotic Stone Forest was their home.

Among them was a standout one. It was roughly four meters tall, much stronger than the other apes. Moreover, it was covered in blood-red fur that glowed eerily under the setting sun. Oddly enough, it had four arms, all filled with immense strength. Its eyes glinted with a chilling light that sent shivers down Xiao Chen's spine, even when standing about two or three hundred meters away.

A piercing monkey cry echoed from the Stone Forest. The apes spotted Xiao Chen on top of the small peak and the four-armed Blood-colored Strange Ape charged forward with the agile shadows trailing behind.

Xiao Chen's brows furrowed. He was still severely injured and the approaching Giant Apes were clearly some rare species. A confrontation with them wouldn't be a great idea.

Running away was impossible; he couldn't outpace these swift giant apes that leaped eight to nine meters at a time. He continued calmly to roast the game, the aroma started to spread out.

More than a dozen Giant Apes, three to four meters tall, quickly appeared atop the small peak, blocking the last rays of the setting sun like a row of giant steles, casting terrifying shadows.

The Giant Ape with the blood-red fur, which appeared to be their leader, stood in front, growling menacingly. The horrifying glint in its eyes indicated its intent of tearing up Xiao Chen at any moment. However, it didn't act immediately; its nostrils flaring as it was intrigued by the smell of the cooked meat.

Then, to Xiao Chen's surprise, the Giant Ape snatched the grilled meat from him in a swift movement, cautiously tasting a bit before tearing off a chunk devouring greedily and tossing the rest to the apes behind it.

Low growls echoed through the woods, as the apes scrambled for the golden-brown grilled meat. Each ape managed to get only a bite, devouring it within moments.

Xiao Chen remained calm, watching their actions, and then quietly sliced off a large chunk of raw meat, continuing to grill it. As the aroma of the cooked meat spread once again, all the apes growled, watching the shiny slab of meat intently.

This time, before the apes could approach, Xiao Chen used a bamboo knife to cut out two pounds of cooked meat for himself, then hurled the remaining meat, weighing over a dozen pounds, towards the four-armed Giant Ape. The apes growled in a deep voice before devouring the meat greedily.

When they finished eating, the apes looked at Xiao Chen, and their aggressive intent apparently vanished. Their eyes glowed with anticipation, seemingly hoping to enjoy more cooked meat.

Xiao Chen flashed a small smile and calmly roasted the remaining raw meat to give it to the rest of the apes.

The crisis was diffused in such an unexpected manner. The apes left reluctantly, without displaying any hostility towards Xiao Chen. The four-armed Bloody Giant Ape even approached Xiao Chen and pounded his chest as if trying to communicate something just before leaving.

That night, Xiao Chen cultivated under the moonlight, shrouded in silver moonlight, immersing himself in the serene and peaceful realm. Across from him in the Chaotic Stone Forest, the dozen Giant Apes also stood under the moonlight. Xiao Chen sensed something and opened his eyes to look at them, revealing a surprised expression as the apes appeared to be swallowing the moonlight!
