YIN-YANG DEVOURER

Doing Business part 1 (11)

The City of Waves was a busy port. The city could be described as 'cosmopolitan' due to the large number of people who lived there who were originally from other continents.

"Whoa, I've never seen bracers like that" Lira said as she pointed towards the stall of one of the merchants who was clearly from another continent.

"Don't worry, Lira… We'll come shopping once we finish doing business!" Ruvan said with a smile as he walked through the crowds accompanied by Lira and little Xin. After walking for a few blocks the group finally arrived at a huge store that had a sign that said: "Commerce Pavilion."

A huge line of people was waiting to enter the store. All the cultivators waited patiently for their turn without daring at any time to make any kind of claim and much less to cause any kind of problem. This was due to the reputation of the Commerce Pavilion within the Marxus Continent.

The Commerce Pavilion was quite a power on the continent and some rumors said that its background was much deeper than anyone could even imagine. The shops of the Commerce Pavilion were always safe places where cultivators could make negotiations without fearing for their safety. The same was true of the auctions that this shop organized, which guaranteed the best possible merchandise.

Ruvan ignored the line as he came directly to where one of the guards was standing. The guard motioned for him to stop as he addressed him with a polite tone after all Ruvan was a Golden Core Realm cultivator.

"Excuse me sir, but only those people with a medallion can enter the store without waiting in line," Said the guard.

"I know… Here is my medallion" Ruvan said as he took out a bronze medallion, with the seal of the Commerce Pavilion. Upon seeing the medallion, the guard's attitude took a one hundred and eighty degree turn.

"Come forward sir" The Captain of the Guards said politely as he gave way to Ruvan who entered accompanied by Lira and Xin.

"Sir over here~. In a moment you will be attended to by our Manager" Greeted one of the receptionists with a friendly smile. The treatment received caused envious glances from the other cultivators inside the store but in the end no one dared to complain.

Ruvan and his group were led to a private room as they waited for the branch manager to arrive. The receptionists quickly brought out drinks and snacks to make their stay much more pleasant.

"Welcome to the Commerce Pavilion"

"My name is Lan Min and I am the manager of the branch in the City of Waves." Soon a chubby and cunning-looking man entered the store.

"Manager Lan… I didn't know you had been transferred to this place." Ruvan greeted him with a warm smile.

"Captain Jakob! It's good to see you again" Manager Lan greeted with a smile as he sat down with more confidence after all they were both old acquaintances.

"I imagine Captain Jakob is here to sell the goods obtained from the looting of the Three Swords Sect" Manager Lan said with a smile.

"Wow~ I see Manager Lan is still as knowledgeable as ever" Ruvan said with a smile. The Commerce Pavilion's information network was the best in the entire Marxus continent, so it was not surprising that Manager Lan was aware of the recent activities of Ruvan and his group.

"I must say that the actions of Captain Jakob and his men have caused quite a stir throughout the continent, after all the Three Swords Sect was one of the great powers of the region" Said Manager Lan with a full tone of admiration. Manager Lan had known Ruvan since he was a young teenager who aspired to become a mercenary, since then he witnessed the rapid rise of the young man sitting in front of him.

"I apologize if it causes any problems for Manager Lan" Said Ruvan with a fake smile.

"Nonsense… War is one of the greatest opportunities for merchants, naturally the Commerce Pavilion also benefited from their actions" Manager Lan said with a smile.

"May I know what goods Captain Jakob brings to trade this time?" Manager Lan said with a serious expression after all most of his promotions were related to the deals he had struck with Ruvan.

Thanks to his diligent service, Ruvan always requested to do negotiations with Lan Min to the point where Lan Min had become a rising star within the echelons of the Commerce Pavilion, going so far as to become the Branch Manager of a of the largest Cities of the Marxus Continent.

"Sure. I have quite a few valuable things that will surely interest Manager Lan" Ruvan said as he took out the contents of the ring he had snatched from the Third Elder of the Three Swords Sect. The moment the items came out of the ring, Manager Lan's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, after all he had never seen so many valuable items together.

"These are the main Secret Techniques of the Three Sword Sect," Manager Lan said as his trembling hands held the earth grade techniques.

"These are the swords of some of the Elders."

"And also here are some quite valuable herbs and spiritual resources" Ruvan said with a smile as he pointed towards the enormous amount of objects placed on the table.

"I also have some slaves that I would like to sell… Most of them are core or chief disciples belonging to the Three Swords Sect. I am sure they will be excellent battle slaves in the future" Ruvan said with a smile.

"Whoa" "Captain Jakob, this deal is beyond my capabilities…"

"Allow me to go communicate with my superiors" Manager Lan asked with a trembling voice.

"Sure. I'll wait for you here, Manager Lan" Ruvan said with a calm voice.

'Shit, if I can make this deal I will be promoted to Head of the Region' Manager Lan's hands trembled as he quickly headed to his office to contact his superiors through his audiovisual matrix.

An audiovisual matrix was a fairly expensive tool that allowed you to contact other people over incredibly far distances. The big difference between audiovisual matrices and communication talismans was that the former allowed you to obtain a complete image of the user on the other side of the mirror while the latter simply allowed the other party's voice to be heard.

However, not everything was rosy, after all audiovisual arrays consumed an enormous amount of spiritual stones, making them practically inaccessible to most cultivators, meanwhile communication talismans on the other hand were much cheaper for cultivators to use.
