YOLANDA

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 -The Ivy Gorge Bridge

She was disappointed -actually more angry than disappointed- about the note. He must have been joking; this had to be a joke, "Well, I couldn't get a good sleep because of the noise of your stomach rumbling. So I got you some food. - Prince Charming xx" She wouldn't have eaten it if she had seen this note before. She thought his name might be on the note. And maybe it mentioned where he had headed off.. Or maybe he has a plan to follow it so he didn't want to wake up her... She had been so naive. That guy was a total lost cause. Even if she wasn't his girlfriend or even an acquaintance, he should have behaved better. It wasn't kind or something a prince should do. Prince, huh? He was a trash. She didn't want to think about him for another second.

She started thinking about what she should do next. They took their bags and went to the inn for horses. It was daylight so the ruffians wouldn't be there. But when they arrived to the inn, the inn keeper didn't let them take the horses. After last night, there were lots of things to compensate. So he wouldn't let them take horses if they had any penny to cover for. They ruined the inn so they had to pay it. She understood him but there was no choice for her to let him take horses. She began bargaining fiercely. If he could just give her one horse, she might reach it in time—it was a matter of life or death. She succeeded because he was a soft-spoken man. But she had to tell her story to him. But, of course, she would make a few changes. She didn't give any accurate details about where her home was, where she was heading, or who her family were. She took precautions, in case the ruffians questioned the inn keeper if he didn't know the right details; he couldn't give anything away.

Now they had only one horse. But it didn't matter actually as long as they could reach the place where the talisman was. She asked the innkeeper for some food and hit the road again. After a while they hesitated, decided to walk instead of both riding it. It was tiring the horse. They crossed over a valley after the town and came to a deserted place with water but no greenery. They climbed half way of a mountain. This place seemed awkward. She took out the map from her bag and tried to understand where they were. It seemed they were at Ivy Gorge. This place had bad name. She never wanted to come across this place but here she was. "What's the matter?" Andy asked with concern, when he saw the look of sheer terror on her face.

She stumbled, unable to speak. "That's... That's... the Ivy Gorge. THE IVY GORGE" By the end of her speech, her voice rose with fear and anxiety. She wasn't easily scared but this place was a horror story used to scare children for not to going out without adults. This was bad. She wasn't going to get in there. No way. Any human could persuade her to cross that bridge. She looked at that place again, despite the awkward lack of greenery, it had once been breathtaking. "What is the matter of this place why do you seem so scared?" He asked, he got currious. "Don't you know the rumor about this place?" Andy asked, "What rumor?" She was surprised. Was there anyone in this world didn't know this story? "You know... The bride?" she said but she couldn't decide to weather tell the story to him or not. "No, I didn't hear anything about the bride. Are you sure it is the place? Ivy Gorge?" Andy puzzled never heard this place or the bride.

"Yes" she insisted, "I can never forget name of this place. This was my own nightmare." She had a fave long agony like she didn't only listen story like she lived. That is exaggeration, Andy thought, "Then you have the tell me if we take the long way." She knew him, she couldn't stop him if he decide to walk that bridge. "I will" then she started to tell the story to convince him to take the other path, "But I hope the bride won't hear us. And you can't interrupt, it will be long, you should listen quietly until i finish. Okay?" she demanded approval she needed to finish this story fast. "Okay, my lips are sealed." said Andy quickly, he was so excited to listen this quite historical story.

She started then, "The event actually is about a bride who has been suicide at this bridge and after that started haunting this place. People thinking she would stop if only find the groom and get her revenge. Story about actually two sister. One of them is the bride, the other sister who actually loved by groom. You should understand that the bride was actually wicked person. Her sister who was all her life shattered by the bride behaviors. That sister meet him at trade post by chance. For luck, their mother actually urged the bride sister for go buy some groceries but she refuse to go. The kind sister took on the responsibility. She met the stranger, and they became sweethearts. Later, the groom came to meet the family. People says he was truly handsome. When the bride saw him, she fell in love with him. And she learned the truth about their encounter, felt obsessed. He had to be her groom, so she decided to carry out the scheme. She called her sister to help her at barn. She said that there was a haystack on the second floor that they should give to the horses. So they both climbed barn ladder. After they reached the top, she acted innocently and suggested softly, "Maybe we could throw the haystack to ground. It is so bulky you know." The bride's plan was for the sister to fall, as there was rotten wood at the edge. So, the bride tried to guide her there. The suggestion was the perfect cover for the bride; the sister could fall, even though the bride didn't have to touch it. In case she didn't die, no one could blame the bride. So deceived her to fell concrete floor. The sister fell indeed but didn't die actually. The injury impaired her, leaving her confined to bed. After that, the sister didn't want to marry him for his sake; he shouldn't have to spend rest of his life to take care of her. So she rejected his proposal but he didn't let her go easily, every day he came to her for change her mind. He loved her so much. But she was determined, never took him back. But the bride started to play with him. He had to console her; she act like she was feeling guilty of sister falls, cried a lot in front of him. Over time they've became good friends. So the bride didn't need excuse to see him anymore. But he still didn't like her. So she manipulated the groom; that her sister actually fall in love someone else that's why she didn't want to marry him. At first he didn't believe her of course, but she hired a young man to serve as her sister's lover. Her second scheme started to play. When the sister slept one night; this young man came hugged her while the bride tricked the groom to show this scene. He roared and started to fight with that man. In this chaos sister woke up asked to know what's happening to the bride. But the bride yelled her to she had no respect to him and she should be ashamed. Sister was puzzled and shocked. She couldn't understand what's going on. But groom -who had been misled, "Now it's over for me too. I hope you can be happy with him. I won't come to you anymore. I can't be beggar for your love anymore." told the sister. She was shocked with fear of losing him. She had panicked, called him to ask the matters but he didn't turn back. So, the bride went after him to console him and said that she didn't know how precious he was and that she wasn't worth crying over. She confessed her feelings after that. He was sad, confused, and wanted to get rid of these hard feelings. So he accepted her feelings and tried to forget the sister. After that, she deceived him again one night, by giving him a drink that poisoned him to fall asleep, and in the morning, she pretended like they had spent the night together. A few week after she said that she was pregnant. So he had to marry with her. Everything set, even, the bride ask her blessing to sister before wedding at the bridge. But sister said that she understand what bride sister done. She had friends, unlike the wicked bride. So, she asked them to follow him after he thought he had been cheated by the other guy. Her friends saw everything and told her. But the sister waited to talk until the marriage. At the wedding day the bride sought her sister's blessing at the bridge, but all she got was public revelation of her wicked schemes. The groom who heard every filthy plans of the bride, leave her at the bridge. Before he leave she threatened him, if he abondon her, she would kill herself. He didn't believe her, and she jumped in and drowned. After that, she started to be seen occasionally at the bridge and haunting the land and tore apart every couple who loved each other." Yolanda wanted to explain briefly but she realized she still had to persuade him.

"It's a quite story" said Andy and added, "I mean. Between us, you are the brave one, right?" he laughed. She got angry and tried to reply to him but he was quick, "Come on, it's just a fairy tale. Ghosts don't exist. A tale is meant to scare people, especially children." Andy teased her about her fear. "That wasn't the end. Those who didn't believe in this curse came here for their trial, but no one had ever come back since." Her replies gave him goosebumps. "That's scary. Were they all lovers? Did they come for a trial of their love?" Andy asked with clear sadness on his face. "No that's the matter, they don't have to be lover. She doesn't have power to distinguish who is a lover. She just killing them all!" She stuffed the map in her bag and tied the strings. Looked at for once again this beautiful historic place.

This stone bridge must have been bustling before it became haunted. It is now literally haunted by ghosts. In fact no one could ever managed cross the bridge. I mean they managed but not a single human being returned back from this. Such a waste, this kind of gorgeous land. Every inch of this bridge was carved from white stone. It had eight legs, with each pair of legs positioned opposite each other. The middle ones of those legs had arches connecting them to the side legs. Those arches had exquisite carves like lace, giving it a elegant atmosphere here. Unfortunately they couldn't take the risk to pass this bridge. They should take the long and rugged road. Andy who didn't quite persuaded to leave here, started to asking again, "Is the sister have happy ending at least?' She murmured, "How could I know that?" But he understood and replied, "You know every details about this story even how the bride tricked the sister to fell. Yet you don't know if the lovers ever got back together?" Andy insisted on learning more about it, if she knews. He had known her since childhood. It didn't make sense. If there had been any clear ending to this story, she would have learned. She couldn't stop herself without pursuing the truth. That's why he admired of her too much. She always wanted to know things, reads a lot. There was no partial knowledge for her; if something captured her curiosity, she dove into learning everything about it. That's why he couldn't believe her. Even he didn't need that much awareness to understand that she hiding something. There was something that she didn't want him to know. What it could be? Anyway. If she wants to go harsh road she better give him explanatory details about ending.

She replied, "That's what I said. I don't know anything more. Now can we head out?" She didn't want to waste time anymore. But Andy sank, sitting cross-legged. She was losing her patience. She had to save her siblings who has suffering things. But he seemed completely forget about it. She gave him warn to remember her siblings, "We are going to be late. Please Andy, don't you remember? Frederick and Irene, waiting for us to save them. Come on." Andy snapped at her, "You don't have to tell me. I remember clearly. But I don't understand if you could only tell me what's source of your fear about this place. You know something. Please tell me. Maybe it is not actually big deal. Maybe it is your childhood fears that you should confront it? Tell me I am your best friend. Please." Finished smoothly. She couldn't resist to his puppy eyes, she never had. He knew exactly how to play his cards. This was disadvantages of have a lifetime friend. But she glad to have him. He is and has always been a good friend to her. Even she didn't want to let him come to with her this quest at the beginning. She didn't know he was following her until passed a lots of town and spent two day alone out there. She smiled. His coal-black hair and adorable face always got what he wanted. But she still didn't want to tell him. Eventually she started, "Well.."
