You Are My Whole Life

Chapter 17: 17, Deliberately let loose in order to capture later 7_1

In the silent office, Li Chengyun sat in a high-backed chair, just pulling out a file to spread out, when the phone on his desk rang.

He picked it up casually, and Aguai's voice came through the other end: "Mr. Li, Miss Yu is here at the office to see you..."

Leisurely flipping through the document, Li Chengyun cut him off: "Tell her I'm not in."

Having said that, he hung up the phone. Li Chengyun continued to look at the document in his hand, but although he was turning page after page, not a single word registered in his mind.

He closed the document, leaning back in his high-backed chair.

Turning the chair around, his handsome face was completely obscured by the shadow as his back faced the light. His expression was brooding and indecipherable in the fluctuating light and shadows; only his deep eyes gazed slowly out of the floor-to-ceiling window. His ordinarily deep, cold, charming, and ruthless gaze was no longer present.

Instead, it was tinged with a hint of confusion, as though he were immersed in a certain memory, giving one a sense of chilling desolation.

Not finding Li Chengyun at the company, Yu Jingrong assumed that Li Chengyun was at home, not working today.

She arrived at Li Chengyun's residential area, standing outside, watching the forcefield gate of the residential complex that rose and fell with the passage of vehicles.

The residential area where Li Chengyun lived was a famous high-end property in this city. The security precautions were extremely strict; non-residents were not allowed in without the permission of a resident.

Yu Jingrong, who was halted outside, originally planned to wait for Li Chengyun just outside the residential area.

But seeing the cars coming and going, she could hardly make out the faces of the people inside; no doubt, if she waited outside the residential area, she probably wouldn't see Li Chengyun even if she waited a lifetime.

With a cunning glance, Yu Jingrong walked to the nearby supermarket, bought a bottle of red wine and two portions of beef.

Returning to the security pavilion of the residential area, she then sincerely, and with a hint of pleading, said softly to the security guard, "Comrade security guard, I want to surprise my boyfriend today on his birthday. Could you let me in?"

The allure of a beautiful woman, her charming eyes smiling like a crescent moon, radiant and shattering, made most men weak in the knees. This security guard was no exception, turning red at the sight of Yu Jingrong.

But still, he refused: "Well... you should call your boyfriend. Our policy states that only residents, or those permitted by a resident, are allowed in."

This was a good job, and he relied on it for his livelihood, so he didn't dare to take liberties.

"But, I want to surprise him. If I call him, won't he know I'm here? How can I surprise him then? Please, pretty please." Yu Jingrong took out her ID card, "This is my ID card, you can look. I'm not a bad person."
