A extra in my hero academia

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Vita incerta, mors certissima...

The first rule of surviving in a novel, manga, anime, or manhwa is... there isn't any rule.

I mean, let's be honest, nothing goes according to plan. So planning and making rules would be a waste. If you are an avid reader of webnovels, then you are aware of what I am experiencing.

..."Not bad, have to admit... I'm looking good." He wore an upper and lower body black sports spandex, leaving only his hands, feet, and head visible. Over this body suit, he had on a sleeveless baby blue hoodie with neon green gloves and stylish silver and black stripped quarter pants with a white sports shoe.

Started doing some stretches. "To survive in this world, I need to live by these 3 rules." Followed by assuming a starting position.

Rule 1. Don't be a hero: This is no longer a scenario where I am watching or reading about this world in the comfort of my home; to die here means actual death.

Rule 2. Adapt and survive: No matter the situation, always keep a calm mind and adjust to suit the moment in time. Use every and any means necessary to survive, be it murder, betrayal, cheating, or manipulation of any kind. My survivability always comes first.

And lastly.

Rule 3. Unforeseen anomalies: Expect the unexpected. My existence has already caused a ripple effect; changes will occur... only time will tell how major it will be. Be aware at all times.

sigh~

"Hey! What's he doing?"

"Huh." Turning to the person in question. "... looks like he is doing some kind of warm up."

"Well duhh." Face palming himself. "I mean, why is he assuming a starting position?"

"Ohhh, must be some kind of ritual, I guess." Moving his shoulder and hands in a gesture, signaling he doesn't understand why himself.

"Hey, maybe he is terrified and nervous."

"That could be the reason, hmm." Rubbing his chin and suddenly smiling mischievously.

hehe~

"What? Did you figure out why he is like that?"

"No! But I just realized that this is a good thing."

"It is?"

"Yes!"

"Yes, it is; it means one less candidate and more opportunities for us."

"Oh~ hehe, I see. This is a good thing."

Whisper~

Whisper~

Snickering~

...

L U C K Y!

"And it begins." Getting ready to sprint off.

AAAAND START!

Pwoosh!

"EH?" Groups of examinees exclaimed, surprised by his sudden outburst.

Using everyone's momentary pause, he began dashing off. He began maneuvering through the crowd of examinees, making it to the front, leaving everyone behind, and taking first place. He moved at a steady pace, closing in on the entrance to begin the exam.

"What the is he doing?"

"Yeah! How could he just take off like that?"

As he entered the exam site and started to navigate the townlike city, he heard the hero Present Mic announcement. "WHAT'S THE MATTER?! ARE YOU WAITING ON A COUNT? A REAL BATTLE HAS NONE OF THESE! RUN! RUUUNNNNN!!!!"

'Hmm, I have given myself a few minutes tops.' Crouching behind a building, he observed his surroundings.

"Salt manipulation—its the first time I heard of such a quirk. How do you even go about using such quirk? If we go by similarities, then it is similar to sand but with some key differences."

"Now if we go by that logic, it shouldn't be hard to use; yes, it shouldn't... except! I don't know how to use it at all." Blowing a breath of momentary defeat, he leaned against the wall."

'C'mon, don't give up yet. Lets take a deep breath and think this through: salt manipulation... salt manipulation, manipu—wait!' "I got it. The hint is in "manipulation," meaning to bend or weave something in a skilled matter."

"It's like breathing; you don't think, you just do." Closing his eyes, he put his focus in the palm of his hand, willing a sphere to appear.

A few seconds go by, then minutes...

Opening his eyes. "It didn't work." Bowing his head in defeat.

Haah~

"What was I expecting to happen? Oh well, time to move on." Raising his head, he was startled by what he had seen.

"I-it worked." Surrounding him were dozens of dense spheres.

"YES!!"

Playing around with the spheres, he started to get a grasp on his abilities.

....

From what I've noticed so far, I'm basically Gaara from Naruto, just with the exception he uses sand and me salt. I don't have the vast access to my quirk ability like he wields his sand.

Though I can create and use all salt within my vicinity, it is not infinite; it all falls to my mastery and skillful use of my ability to bring out its true potential.

If I spread the salt through the air and created my own little salt air while increasing the potency by several fold, I would be racking in a rapid series of points while not being in harm's way. That's killing to birds with one stone.

Rattle~

Beep Beep

Bang!

"TARGET LOCKED-ON!!"

"DESTROY!!"

Standing up, he turned towards the robot.

'Good. Let's see what this ability can do.'

"Oi! Robot. Didn't you know salt erodes metal? Welcome to your worst nightmare."

...

"6 minutes, 2 seconds left~~"

On top of a building, a young examinee could be seen observing the chaos and commotion beneath him on the ground.

"It's almost time for the big guy to show up. It should be taking effect right, about... now."

In a dark room lit up only by the monitor screens displaying via holographically in the air of examinees, a group of people was gathered observing and gauging the examinees in the replica towns used to conduct the exams.

"A strict time limit and a vast battlefield...best for revealing and uncovering skills."

"Yes! With this method, we can witness their abilities of"

"Adaptability" is the ability to grasp and understand the situation at hand.

"Flexibility": the ability to adjust and maneuver through out any situation.

"Equanimous": the ability to keep calm and collected while facing any obstacle.

And most importantly, sheer "fighting prowess."

Using the point system, we can gauge their respective levels of those fundamental skills.

"Oh my~ oh my~"

"This year's harvest seems to be doing pretty well this year."

"Oh~? Can't have that now, can we? What would they say about us?"

"No worries, I have something that will really test their mettle."

Flipping open a cover revealing a red button, slowly inching closer to it, he then pressed the button.

...?

ERROR!

ERROR!!

System Failure in Process...!!

Ping! Ping!

A series of notifications began to pop up, ringing off alarms.

"Hey, what's going on?!" People began to ask.

"I DON'T KNOW!!" Shouted a teacher as he began to search for the cause.

"It's the alert system from the robot 'Yaruki'." A teacher stated.

"What's causing this? Run an analysis report."

"It seems that erosion has caused major damage to the system."

"Erosion? That can't be possible; all robots were examined and given the okay, both prior and before the exams even started."

"I got it! The sudden erosion seemed to be caused by salt, specifically in the atmosphere."

"Salt?"

"Yes!"

"Hmm, leave it be. Let's see how they'll handle unexpected situations."

"But they can get injured—fatally wounded, maybe..."

"...So? Each one of you in this room has experienced life-or-death situations, some lost friends, family, and loved ones." Tracing the scar on his face with one hand and the other behind his back, he continued.

"Life's not a game. This... path we chose is filled with pain, heartache, and misery. They've experienced the good, but what about the bad? Starting from now there'll be changes, and I expect you to follow suit." Finishing his sentence, he glanced at his staff sternly.

In unison. "Yes sir!"

"And alert Recovery Girl and be ready in case you're needed. Also look into any examinee with salt-related quirks and bring their file." Returning to his seat, they all resumed observing the examinees.

SELF DESTRUCT IS INITIATED!!!

"Hey!"

"What's going on?"

"Yeah. My equipment just started to erode."

ERROR! ERROR!

SELF DESTRUCT IN...!!

BOOM!! BOOM!!

BANG!!!THUD!

At that moment, before everyone's eyes, the robots and all metal devices started to erode rapidly, causing a series of explosions.

"What could cause this?"

"EVERYONE, DO NOT WORRY!! I am sure the pro-hero's are aware of this and will solve this problem. Shouted Tenya Ida as he tried to get everyone under control."

"Yeah!"

"You are right!"

"Fucking idiots..." A frustrated and irritated Bakugo mumbled to himself.

The group of examinees began to bicker among themselves, all unbeknownst to them. The perpetrator was high above a building, smiling as he enjoyed a banquet of points all by himself.

"Not quite what I was expecting, but wonderful nonetheless."

'Any minute now that big robot is supposed to be bursting from around that corner.'

...

....

.....

"Um, any moment now?" A few more seconds go by, but nothing could be seen or heard by that giant robot.

'Maybe its a little la-' His thoughts were cut short by a sudden explosion.

BOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!

Sent flying to a wall by the sudden shockwave from the explosion he crashed into the wall leaving a minor crater, his body laid motionlessly on the floor as he began to lose consciousness.

Struggling to get off the ground but to Flux avail it was futile, after a few more attempts he managed to prop himself against a wall and his only thought before losing consciousness was a Latin phrase... 'Vita incerta, mors certissima.'
