A extra in my hero academia

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Awakening and New Beginnings

In the afternoon, within a room lined with four beds, each sectioned off for privacy and filled with medical machinery, one bed lay occupied by a young male. He exhibited no serious symptoms or injuries. In fact, he looked like a modern sleeping beauty—free of worry, ignorant of the world around him. Beside him was a table holding a profile with a picture and the name Flux Wavecrest.

Not far from Flux sat a figure with a small, unique, animal-like appearance, enjoying a relaxing cup of tea with legs crossed.

As Flux began to stir, the figure glanced over. "Urgh!" Flux mumbled, moving and fidgeting as he showed signs of awakening from his slumber.

Slowly opening his eyes, the scenery appeared blurry, then grainy, until it became clear after a few more blinks. "Where... where am I?"

Finishing a sip of his tea, the figure responded automatically, "In U.A., specifically in one of the infirmaries."

"Oh, I see... I'm alive then?" Flux responded nonchalantly.

"Yes," the figure continued, sipping his tea.

A few minutes passed in silence. "Wait!!" Flux suddenly raised himself up from the bed, turning towards the familiar voice. "Nezu?"

'What the... what's going on? I remember being sent flying from the shockwave of the explosion, hitting a wall, and then losing consciousness. Everything after that is a blur. What happened?'

As if reading his mind, Nezu began to answer his unspoken questions, calming his worries. "The explosion caused by the robot codenamed: Menace of Supreme Dread, caused an insufferable amount of damage to the exam site. Injuries were incurred, but nothing life-threatening, thanks to Pro-Healer Recovery Girl. The exam was concluded, and all examinees were sent home until further notice."

Feeling somewhat relieved after hearing Nezu's response, Flux couldn't help but ponder on something even more pressing. 'Okay, that's that, but the actual problem is, what do I do from here? I know absolutely nothing about the body I'm in, well, except that we both share the same name but nothing else. What am I to do? I don't believe the previous owner of this body had any money or even his home address on him.'

Haah~ Rubbing his forehead with his right hand. "What a drag." Exhaling, Flux lowered his head and closed his eyes in hopes it would help calm his mind.

Meanwhile, Nezu observed Flux's many microoutbursts keenly. Noting the sudden change in behavior as Flux began to compose himself, Nezu stood up, clasped his hands behind his back, and slowly approached. "Kaelan Tideweaver, age: 15, ethnicity: unknown, race: unknown. Trademark is his striking white hair, gray eyes, and pale white skin. Parent's identities are unknown. Spent three years in an orphanage; the years prior are uncertain and unknown."

With subtle movements, Flux made himself comfortable and assumed a sitting position, tilting his head in confusion as Nezu began imparting strange info about someone as if he knew him.

"Possessing a brine-type quirk, he escaped and ran away from the orphanage. His traces were lost, and he wasn't seen or heard from again." Coming to a stop in front of Flux, Nezu halted his speech to observe if Flux displayed any sudden change in behavior. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?" Nezu inquired.

"...I don't know who or what you're talking about." Flux replied with some annoyance in his voice.

"Hmm, I see." Nezu turned towards the bedside, picked up some documents, and resumed talking. "You see, that's where you come in, Flux Wavecrest."

"Where do I come in? What do you mean by that?"

"After your little escapade, I looked into you, and I mean really looked into you. You're one interesting fellow." Nezu looked up slightly at Flux, continuing. "Flux Wavecrest, whose first known appearance was two years ago, lives on his own and currently resides in a studio apartment at Musutafu Studio Residences, 123 Hero Heights, Apt. 305, Musutafu, Japan."

'So that's where I'll be staying.'

"Quirk: salt manipulation. Attended Cascade Junior High and is currently taking part in U.A.'s entrance exam. Now, looking at it at face value, there isn't much to see. But when you put both pieces of information together, you see the bigger picture."

"Isn't that right, Kaelan? Or should I call you Flux now?"

'Haa...this, this is so messed up.' Face palming himself, he exhaled mentally. 'For now, I'll go with the flow. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.'

"...You're pretty talkative, aren't you?" Flux commented with an empty tone.

"I'm surprised. Normally, at this moment, people usually deny credibility or plausibility. You are one interesting fellow." Pausing for a moment, Nezu then continued. "So, what are you going to do now? The secret is out."

"Nothing, absolutely nothing." Closing his eyes, Flux thought, 'I came into this world unexpectedly. The past and the present are already what they are. Presently, what is to be, will be, I'll just be adaptable.' Shrugging his shoulders prior to his statement.

"What are you going to do about it?" Flux calmly stated, awaiting his fate.

A lengthy pause ensued between them. After a couple of minutes, Nezu replied. "...Nothing. What you did may be wrong, but compared to the villains, you did nothing wrong." Walking towards the door to exit the room, Nezu continued, "A calm before the storm... and things are already in play. Maybe, just maybe, you're the person to lead and conquer what lies ahead."

'What the hell does he mean by that?'

Walking towards the entrance of the room, Nezu opened the door, paused, and then left after uttering four words. "You're free to go."

Silence filled the room, leaving Flux momentarily dazed by all that had transpired as he tried to grasp and piece together the newfound information.

"...Fuck it."

Silence filled the room, leaving Flux momentarily dazed by all that had transpired as he tried to grasp and piece together the newfound information. The revelation of his dual identity weighed heavily on his mind, but he knew he couldn't stay here forever. With a deep breath, he began to process his thoughts, seeking a sense of clarity and purpose.

'Alright, Flux, or Kaelan, whichever you are,' he mused, 'you've got to accept this new reality. There's no point in dwelling on the past. Adapt and move forward—that's all you can do.'

He sat up fully, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. The room around him seemed both familiar and alien, a stark reminder of the life he now inhabited. He glanced around one last time before standing up, his resolve hardening with each step he took towards the door.

Pushing the door open, he stepped into the hallway. The building buzzed with activity—a hive of students, staff, and heroes moving through their daily routines. Flux moved through the corridors with purpose, his mind racing with possibilities and plans. He needed to blend in, understand this world better, and find his footing.

As he approached the entrance of the building, familiar voices caught his attention. He paused, overhearing a conversation between Ochaco Uraraka and Present Mic.

"Please at least give him the number of points lost because of me!"

Present Mic nodded thoughtfully and patted her head. "Apologizes, missy, that can't be done, but I think you won't need to do that in the first place."

Flux listened intently, but only for a moment. He had his own path to forge and couldn't afford to get sidetracked by the lives of others, no matter how intriguing. He turned away, intent on leaving the building and figuring out his next move.

"Flux!" Ochaco's voice rang out, stopping him in his tracks. He turned around to see her hurrying towards him, a friendly smile on her face. "Hey, are you alright? You looked like you were deep in thought."

Flux forced a small smile, trying to appear composed. "Yeah, just a lot on my mind. Thanks for asking, Uraraka."

"Where are you headed?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Just getting some fresh air, clearing my head," Flux replied casually. "Wanna join?"

"Sure!" Ochaco chirped, her enthusiasm infectious. She turned to Present Mic, "I'll catch up with you later!"

Together, they exited the building, stepping out into the cool afternoon air. The campus stretched out before them, bustling with the energy of young heroes-in-training. Flux felt a strange sense of belonging amid the chaos, a feeling he hadn't expected.

As they walked, Ochaco chatted about the entrance exam, her excitement about potential classmates, and her hopes for the future. Flux listened, nodding occasionally, but his thoughts kept drifting back to the revelations about his identity and the path that lay ahead.

'Adapt and move forward,' he reminded himself. 'This is just the beginning.'

As they reached the gates of the academy, Ochaco turned to him. "You know, Flux, I have a good feeling about you. I think you'll do great here."

Flux met her gaze, her optimism a comforting balm to his restless mind. "Thanks, Uraraka. I appreciate it. Let's make the most of this chance."

With a final nod, they parted ways, each heading towards their respective futures. Flux felt a renewed sense of determination. No matter the challenges that awaited, he was ready to face them head-on.

Later, he arrived at his studio apartment at Musutafu Studio Residences. Standing before the door marked 123 Hero Heights, Apt. 305, he took a deep breath. This was his new beginning—a place to call home and a chance to forge a new path. Opening the door, he stepped inside, ready to embrace whatever came next.
