A Loli’s Space Odyssey

31 – Abrupt reunion

After we gave our farewell, me and Alisha left the village and right now we were headed towards the Grand Palace. I wanted to see with my own eyes in what state it was in.

I left Alisha to run in the front this time. Since the distance was further and I am faster than her, I let her take the lead so I could match my pace to hers. Eventually, the great river was in sight.

This river is called Uruk and was intended to be long as hell and extremely wide. It houses various species of fish and gives life to the desert area. West of this was the Fornix Oasis that fed directly into the river. And there should be my city. The city of Olvidia located on a series of islands interconnected to one another.

Beautiful roads, monorails combined with a watery feeling like Venice Italy, alongside beautiful palm trees and lush vegetation. It was supposed to be the center of the planet. A city under the sun where technology meets history. Technically it should be the most developed city but right now…

"It's true."

"Who in the world would dare to ruin this place? They should die 1000 times over."

That place was an oasis in the middle of a desert.

Greenery was still spreading.

There was no wall around the city, but trees with tall height were planted, starting the city leniently. There was no external enemy that the city had to be vigilant towards. The bright light of the sun was reflected by the buildings built from brick and stone of beige color that were standing in rows.

“……Is that the place?”

I'm vaguely trying to remember my way around. It's harder at foot level. When I designed this place it was from a bird's eye point of view.

It was as though the buildings were made from piled up square blocks. Generally there were a lot of the buildings that had two or three floors, but it wasn’t a city that was that tall. Because of that, the presence of the gigantic structure at the outskirt of the city felt even more bizarre.

A gigantic rectangle cone built from piled up stones. The so-called pyramid.

Its height was about three hundred meters. And it was falling apart.

After staring at that pyramid glaringly, we began to walk while leaving behind footprints on the sand.

"We're going in, Alisha."

When we entered inside the city passing through the trees that blocked the wind, a well ordered townscape was spreading out before us. The buildings made from beautifully carved stones were lining up properly at both sides of the street.

The buildings facing the main street seemed to be shops. Signboard and wide frontage, and counter and shelves inside could be seen. The street was completely made from stone paving. It was indeed a beautiful mix of ancient architecture and modern technology.

At a glance, the scenery was like a city that often existed in the middle of a desert with a river connecting all the islands.

In front of the palace, a gigantic wall was standing in our way. There was a huge gate with a height that was reaching ten meters. Human statues with the same height of the wall were built at both sides. They were statues of females sitting on a chair with their upper body naked.

Don't judge me. The devs would have censored it afterwards.

After walking for a while there were stairs leading inside the palace. After climbing those stairs, my ears started twitching.

“Hm?”

"How… just how much more do you intend to plunder until you are satisfied!?" (???)

A howl filled with bloodlust emerged from behind a broken pillar. Something jumped from behind it. It's fast. Super fast. I could hear the thrusters loud and clear. A sword swung towards me.

"Not on my watch!" (Alisha)

Alisha took a step forward and intercepted the blow with her own sword. A furry of quick slashes were exchanged. For a normal eye, it was impossible to follow them. One could only possibly see shadows. But eventually Alisha's force pushed back the opponent.

"I won't forgive!! I won't…" (???)

His words stopped. This gave me time to better analyze him. A warrior clad in armor with the face of a jackal. There was no part of that armor that exposed skin. He was covered from head to toe with gold armor. That is a high end nano-suit. You could say it's no different than Iron Man's nano suit.

The Nemean Armor. Although he does have the face of a jackal instead of a lion, that is without a doubt the Nemean Armor, a set that has tremendous defensive capabilities.

How do I know this? Because this person in front of me…

He immediately dropped his sword, kneeled and lowered his head before me.

"Your Majesty… ojou-sama… I never stopped believing you would return one day. Please forgive my rudeness earlier, I failed to recognize you from the strat."

Alisha also lowered her guard.

"I'm glad to see you're still alive, Bayek. I guess that means you still acknowledge me as the queen of this world."

"Of course, ojou-sama. Nobody can deny the existence of the great Kizuna Amun Ra! Ojou-sama, please forgive me. Your home has reached such a level… I did all I could to preserve it, however…"

"Raise your head, Bayek. I want to clearly hear the story from you."

"Yes, ojou-sama."

Bayek is a guardian I have designed. However, seeing only him here makes me curious. He isn't the strongest line of defense I prepared for this palace. In fact, Alisha is stronger than him. His player level should only be around 78 as well. That does still make him stronger than anyone I've met outside my crew up until today.

"Bayek, first, is there anyone else here?"

"I'm afraid I am the only one still standing."

"What!? What about the treasury guardian? You mean Sobek has also…"

"Unfortunately yes. Rest assured, the treasury is still intact. However, Sobek has been killed ojou-sama. I'm afraid this is all the doing of the Vanderbach Federation's champion."

Tsk. That guy again? I'm starting to get mad here. I wasn't expecting someone to have this kind of power. I mean Sobek was supposed to be a mini raid boss. An optional boss fight for people to face for some nice loot drops. But even so, I made him level 150 raid boss level and he had a gimmick. For just one person to kill him…

"Bayek, I want to hear the entire story. Tell me everything you know."

"As you wish, ojou-sama."
