After Being Abducted and Raised by A Snake

Chapter 33 - II

He persisted with his escape plan, but Xuan Ming captured him every time. The most absurd instance was when he managed to escape far, wrapped in a snake skin. He was delighted, thinking no wild beast would dare approach him, but accidentally stumbled upon a snake’s nest.

The snakes hidden in various dark and humid corners seemed to recognize him. They twisted their long or short bodies, hissing and spitting out snake tongues, crawling toward him. Terrified, he ran back.

Later, he fell ill, and Xuan Ming took care of him.

The situation was awkward, but Wan Zhong, being clever, played his cards well.

With clear amber eyes, a pale face, and a confused expression, he looked at Xuan Ming pitifully and asked, “Who are you? Where am I? Why don’t I remember anything?”

Xuan Ming seized the opportunity. His eyes lit up, and he hurriedly spoke to the mirror.

[Mirror, mirror.]

[The opportunity has come.]

In the mirror, Xuan Ming arranged his long hair, as smooth as brocade, twisted his beautiful snake tail, and then kissed Wan Zhong on the lips.

His eyes were clear, and his tone was even more sincere than before: “I am your husband, you are my spouse, and this is our nest. Now you are sick and about to die, and you need me to inject the power of my soul into you to help you recover.”

As he said this, he extended his strong fingers, touched Wan Zhong’s knees, asking him to spread his legs, and placed his feet on his shoulders.

Wan Zhong struggled and shouted, “Xuan Ming! You said you wouldn’t force me!”

He pushed Xuan Ming’s shoulders with his feet and pleaded, “I remember now, please let me go.”

Xuan Ming felt deeply sorry for this.

Picking up a bright red snake fruit, it chewed it up to feed Wan Zhong. Despite his human face, the forked snake tongue he spat out was truly disappointing.

Wan Zhong swallowed mechanically and, at a certain moment, felt that Xuan Ming’s feeding gestures strangely resembled the black snake. Especially when Xuan Ming wiped the juice from his mouth with the snake tongue, it was exactly the same.

Wan Zhong realized that his remarkably intelligent black snake had learned so much from someone!

Searching around the cave, he asked Xuan Ming in a hoarse voice, “Where is the black snake?”

Xuan Ming used the snake tongue to collect water from the pool and fed it to Wan Zhong, asking, “What are you thinking? Planning to steal my pet snake and run away again?”

Wan Zhong pursed his lips, embarrassed to admit that he was contemplating an escape once more.

Unable to break free each time, he tormented himself. His dreams were now haunted by terrifying scenes of being chased by snakes, and he planned to take a few days to calm down before considering it again.

Using vines, branches, and leafy plants, Wan Zhong constructed a simple but sturdy shack on the hillside where the cellar was dug. Though not as comfortable as a cave, it was his own nest, giving him a sense of belonging.

Surprisingly, Xuan Ming didn’t intervene.

Busy day and night building nests, Xuan Ming seemed too preoccupied to pay attention to Wan Zhong. He even felt appreciative that his spouse understood he was busy and refrained from making trouble. Pleased with this consideration, he resolved to show love until death once the nest was completed.

Wan Zhong could see the intense possessiveness and desire for plunder in Xuan Ming’s eyes. He made a conscious effort not to linger around the snake’s nest, but he couldn’t help missing the black snake.

.

It was noon, and the sun hung high in the sky.

Under the cover of night, Wan Zhong tiptoed into the snake nest, finding Xuan Ming snoring against the rock wall while deftly weaving rattan mats with his fingers. The craftsmanship seemed to have improved. After he fell asleep, Wan Zhong observed he braided vines into a mat with his fingers and tail.

Not finding the black snake in the cave, Wan Zhong turned to leave quietly when Xuan Ming suddenly said, “Come here.”

Wan Zhong pretended not to hear, attempting to leave, but Xuan Ming hit him with his tail. After a roll, it expressed some displeasure, “Are you a thief? You are so sneaky.”

Embarrassed, Wan Zhong explained, “I came to see the black snake. Isn’t it here?”

Xuan Ming opened his eyes, “Is something wrong?”

Wan Zhong nodded, “If it comes back, could you let me know?”

Xuan Ming nodded slightly, releasing him without taking advantage. He nudged him with the tip of his tail, urging, “I understand; please leave quickly.”

Wan Zhong took a while to react. After some time, he cautiously asked, “You said before that you wouldn’t force me as long as I didn’t want to. Do you… really mean it?”

Xuan Ming just stared at him.

Even without a clear answer, Wan Zhong didn’t dare to push further. Shortly after, as he ran back to the shack, he saw the black snake slithered around the mirror.

Nervously glancing at the snake nest, Wan Zhong, having wrapped all his possessions in snake skin, laid on the black snake’s head and whispered to it in a very, very low voice.

“Handsome snake~ Take me out of here and let’s go wandering together, okay?”

The black snake glanced at him with slightly lowered eyes and called out to the mirror.

[Mirror, mirror.]

[That notebook is full; give me a new one.]
