Chapter 38 - II
He pulled his mate out of the tree hole and gathered him in his arms, unilaterally announcing, “Okay, the game of running away from the nest is over; we should go back.”
As Wan Zhong struggled, Xuan Ming hugged him tighter and held him more firmly.
“Don’t make trouble.”
Xuan Ming untied his cassock, held Wan Zhong’s hips, and brought him close to his chest. At the same time, he wrapped his entire body tightly with his cassock, pressing his head against his neck, and spoke gentle words.
“If you’re angry, direct it at me; don’t make things difficult for yourself.”
As cold as ice, Wan Zhong shivered hard in the night. His stomach rumbled, and he curled up. Xuan Ming held him tighter.
Xuan Ming smiled, kissed the forehead of the person in his arms, and said, “Be good, I’ll prepare some delicious food for you when we get back.”
Despite the windy night and the distance from the snake nest, with Xuan Ming’s presence, they returned in the blink of an eye to the snake’s nest, sheltered from the wind and cold.
Xuan Ming placed a red snake fruit on the bed and lit a fire at the cave entrance, boiling hot water. Then he cooked the marinated meat in the cave. It was what he promised would be delicious.
Wan Zhong held the bowl and took a sip. As he did, Xuan Ming held him on his lap, looking at him carefully, his fingers tangled in his long hair, reluctant to let go.
Wan Zhong tilted his head uncomfortably, filled his stomach, and wanted to crawl into the crack in the stone that Xuan Ming had smashed with his tail to sleep, but Xuan Ming pulled him out by his ankle.
“Go sleep in the nest.”
Xuan Ming placed the Wan Zhong in the pit, covered him with a quilt made of soft grass, and comforted him, “I’ll sleep outside, so I won’t disturb you.”
As expected, he was fully clothed and lying side by side with his spouse inside the quilt and him outside.
Wan Zhong turned his back.
Xuan Ming waved his hand and covered the night pearl with grass, pressing his lips and teeth to the back of Wan Zhong’s neck, and asked, “Do you want to sleep holding my tail?”
Still angry, Wan Zhong buried his head in the quilt and ignored him.
Xuan Ming conjured up a snake’s tail, tentatively flicking it in the pit, then carefully lifting a corner of the quilt with the tip of his tail. He saw his spouse curled up inside without any reaction and happily spat out his snake tongue.
He purposefully passed the tip of his tail through Wan Zhong’s legs, walked around in front of him, and touched his cold hands, while thoughtfully warming Wan Zhong’s slightly cool belly with the slightly heated piece of tail.
Originally planning to refuse, Wan Zhong felt the slightly warm snake’s tail in his arms, like a frozen person receiving a glass of warm water, and subconsciously hugged it tightly, seeking more warmth.
Xuan Ming smiled, stretched out his long arms, and hugged his spouse tightly, who was holding his tail, as they both snuggled happily.
.
From then on, it was like boiling a frog in warm water.
Xuan Ming, probably afraid that Wan Zhong would remain angry, always maintained his human form during the day. Only when he spat out his scarlet and slender snake tongue would the Wan Zhong awaken from his trance.
Understanding that no matter how handsome and human-like Xuan Ming appeared, he was still a snake. This fact could not be changed.
As the weather grew colder, the huge pool of living water in the cave was also covered with a thin layer of ice.
At night, Wan Zhong finally took the initiative to hug Xuan Ming’s tail again and sighed comfortably against his slightly warm tail.
Xuan Ming was pleased and took out the notebook to reward his spouse: snake eggs +111.
He licked Wan Zhong’s face with his snake tongue and asked, “Would you like me to turn into a black snake? That way, the tail will become bigger, and you’ll be warmer. Plus, I’ll feel more comfortable being rubbed by you.”
Wan Zhong shook his head, “I want to talk to you for a while.”
“Okay.”
“Are you a demon?”
“Don’t ask questions you already know the answers to.”
“Then do you possess magical powers?”
Xuan Ming corrected, “It’s demon power.”
“Can you please send me home then?”
With hope, Wan Zhong hugged the tail in his arms and pleaded urgently, “If you can send me back home, I’ll do anything you ask.”
Raising an eyebrow, Xuan Ming inquired, “Does that include kissing, cuddling, tail-twisting, laying eggs, and hatching cubs with me?”
Wan Zhong lowered his gaze and tightly pursed his lips.
“Hmph,” Xuan Ming sneered, then disclosed the reason for his presence on the island and made a promise, “After I successfully survive the heavenly tribulation and ascend, the restrictions on this island will be lifted. Then, I can take you wherever you want to go.”
“Really?!” Wan Zhong couldn’t believe it. “Are you truly willing to take me home?!”
Seeing his bright eyes, Xuan Ming smiled broadly and replied, “Why would I lie to you?”
“That’s fantastic! It’s truly wonderful!”
Initially just a test, Wan Zhong was ecstatic to see it actually work. Overwhelmed with gratitude for Xuan Ming’s promise, he immediately dismissed their previous disagreements and expressed sincerely, “Thank you, I—”
“If you truly wish to express gratitude, you can become my spouse.”
Pulling Wan Zhong into his arms, Xuan Ming embraced his waist, took his hand, and kissed him on the lips.
“After the tribulation done, how about we return to the demon world for our wedding?”
Wan Zhong was stunned.
Was this snake being serious?
