After My Daughter Died of Depression, I Was Reborn!

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Huai Xi Yongxing Lane!

Chapter 8: Huai Xi Yongxing Lane!

With only 3,500 yuan left in his pocket, Shen Fei aimlessly wandered down the street.

It was still morning, and the concert wasn't scheduled to begin until 7:30 PM. So, naturally, there was no point in heading to the city stadium just yet.

Time was precious, and Shen Fei didn't want to waste it. His sights turned toward Yongxing Lane in Huai Xi.

Yongxing Lane was famously known in Shenzhen for its antique street, where all sorts of ancient artifacts were displayed. While they were advertised as antiques, most people knew the truth—most items there were fake, aimed at deceiving unsuspecting outsiders.

Despite this, Yongxing Lane had stood the test of time and retained a solid reputation. Within this antique street, there were still a handful of genuine treasures waiting to be uncovered. Occasionally, someone with sharp eyes would discover a hidden gem, earning valuable artifacts or millions of yuan in return.

In his previous life, Shen Fei had frequented Yongxing Lane, driven by a naive desire to get rich overnight. But each visit ended with him being ridiculed as a fool for falling into traps.

This time, however, things were different. Shen Fei now possessed twenty years of memories as his secret advantage. Combined with his sharp mind, he remembered events vividly.

Suddenly, a memory struck him. In his previous life, at this exact time, a poker buddy of his had once stumbled upon a hidden treasure here.

That poker buddy had spent just 60,000 yuan on an antique that turned out to be worth 15 times more!

At that time, his friend was in a situation much like Shen Fei's—lazy, irresponsible, and drowning in debt. But unlike Shen Fei, his friend's family owned a demolition property. After paying off high-interest loans, he casually wandered Yongxing Lane and miraculously bought a genuine antique worth millions.

It was sheer luck.

When his friend bought the artifact, onlookers scoffed at him, mocking him for being a fool who had wasted his money. Even the friend himself doubted it. Seeing the antique caked in mud and hearing the ridicule, he almost threw it away.

Just then, an elderly man hurriedly appeared and stopped him. After examining the artifact closely, the old man purchased it for 800,000 yuan!

Though the poker buddy loved to brag, Shen Fei had believed the story. After all, with a million yuan in his pocket, there was no need for him to lie to impress anyone.

Out of curiosity, Shen Fei had once asked what the antique looked like. His friend briefly described it as a jade Guanyin pendant carved from top-grade imperial green jade. The carving was lifelike, but its exterior was plain and covered in mud, except for a small willow branch carved at the base.

Recalling this now, Shen Fei's eyes lit up.

If he could find this pendant, paying off the 320,000 yuan debt would be a piece of cake!

But a problem remained—his friend had spent 60,000 yuan on the pendant, and Shen Fei only had 3,500 yuan. Even if he found it, the seller would never let it go for so little.

Still, Shen Fei wasn't too worried. His priority now was locating the pendant. As for the money—he'd earn it tonight!

If he waited until tomorrow, time would be tight, and he might miss his chance to act before his poker buddy.

With that thought, Shen Fei strode confidently into Yongxing Lane.

"Hey, handsome! Check out this Qing Dynasty porcelain vase I've got here!"

"Young man, take a look! A bronze sword from the Warring States period—absolutely top quality!"

"Bro, don't just walk past! It's still morning, bring me some luck! I've got everything you need!"

It was still early, and Yongxing Lane wasn't crowded with tourists yet. As soon as Shen Fei entered, vendors started calling out to him.

The street was lined with stalls, each displaying a variety of antique goods. Shen Fei, however, paid no attention to the noisy vendors. In his experience, anything that needed a sales pitch was probably worthless.

In his past life, Shen Fei had been tricked enough times to develop a rule of thumb: any antique claiming to have royal or noble origins was most likely fake, meant to lure in clueless buyers.

At each stall, Shen Fei carefully examined the displayed items. If he didn't find what he was looking for, he moved on immediately. Gradually, the vendors' attitudes shifted from enthusiastic to annoyed.

After checking more than thirty stalls with no sign of the pendant, Shen Fei didn't feel discouraged. He grabbed a quick lunch and returned to Yongxing Lane.

"Look, that idiot's back!"

"That broke fool? He's got 'no money' written all over him!"

"Look at him wandering around. What's he even doing here? Hoping for a miracle? Dream on!"

Hearing their whispers, Shen Fei ignored the mockery. He was focused solely on finding the jade pendant.

By sunset, the western edge of Yongxing Lane glowed blood-red under the evening sun. A cool breeze swept through, bringing with it a faint sense of doubt.

"Did my poker buddy make the whole thing up?" Shen Fei sighed in frustration, his eyes filled with confusion as he stood beside a stall.

Just then, the stall owner slapped his thigh suddenly.

"Damn it! I almost forgot about this!"

The vendor pulled out a small bag from a larger sack. When he opened it, a pendant covered in mud was revealed. Despite the dirt, its green glow peeked through the cracks.

Under the reflection of the sunset, the glimmering jade pendant flashed before Shen Fei's eyes.

It was right in front of him.

Shen Fei's hope reignited, and his heart raced with excitement.
