Chapter 22: | 22 | Theo
Theo was in a good mood today. Right from the moment he opened his eyes this morning he felt a surge of positive energy flow through him or maybe he was just excited to meet his Luna. She would not only become his Luna but also the better half of his closest friend.
Theo smiled at what he saw in the mirror. He has worn his favorite blue shirt today. He glanced at the clock to see it strike 10. He had quickly sprayed some perfume and after glancing one last time in the mirror, he headed out.
He wanted to make a good impression on his Luna; both as the pack Gamma and Azraiel's friend. He knew she was unaware of the fact that she was Azraiel's mate but Theo already had a plan brewing in his head to bring those two together. Knowing Azraiel, he would never tell her before her shift in fear of putting her under pressure. But, Charlotte deserves to know the truth, or else she might feel betrayed on realizing the truth after her shift.
As he was walking towards the medical wing, one thing struck him odd. Only once did he consider the possibility of Charlotte not making it through the shift; which was on the day they found her. It was as if deep inside both his wolf and he knew that she would survive. Sure he felt unsettled from the moment she entered the pack land but his wolf never questioned her survival or her intentions.
Theo felt his excitement bubble up as he entered the medical wing. Within seconds he was standing in front of her door.
He quickly checked his appearance and one satisfied he knocked on the door twice.
When he heard her say "Yes?", he opened the door.
As soon as he met her eyes, the air got knocked off from his lungs. Oh, God!! She was beautiful....but it was her smell and aura that made him breathless.
Theo could feel himself shaking at the presence of this little human. Realizing that he was staring with his mouth opened wide, he quickly put on a smile and said, "Hi! I am Theo, the pack Gamma. I just wanted to see how you were doing?"
Theo watched as the tension left her shoulders and her lips begin to stretch into a smile and when they did his heart literally stopped. Her smile was hesitant yet warm. Her eyes were filled with caution but he knew she could sense he was harmless. But that smile of hers literally made his heart drop in his stomach.
Something clicked inside his mind sending a shiver down his spine.
Fuck!!
He barely contained his wolf from submitting. Her aura was demanding respect and submission and his wolf was all too eager to submit. Theo forced his legs to stay upright when all he wanted was to get on his knees. No....She'll freak out.
"I am good.... Please come in.... Have a seat. "
He looked up in time to see her wave her hand towards the chair.
Shit!!
He has no idea how Matt has been visiting her for the past few days. His wolf was literally whining at the thought of not submitting to her. He thinks she would get angry for not submitting to her.
He really needs to do some research after this visit.
Placing himself in the chair quietly, he gave her a bright smile in order to stay grounded. He needs to behave like his usual self or he would creep her out.
"How is your leg?" he asked, trying to make an attempt to get the conversation going. He watched her as she flexed her leg a little and replied with a small smile, "It's better than I imagined it to be. Doctor Humphrey thinks I'll be able to walk on my own by the next week."
"That's great... It means that your wolf is already working its magic."
Nodding her head she replied, "Yes. I am amazed at the speed of recovery. I mean I wasn't expecting to walk normally for several months let alone a week. "
"Yes.... we do heal pretty fast." Theo scanned the room in search of a topic to extend the conversation. Finding a stack of books tucked on a spare chair, he asked " Have you read those?" he pointed at the box.
"Yeah.... I finished them yesterday." Charlotte spoke quietly.
" I can bring you other books if you want to read more." Theo offered.
She looked at him and smiled that gorgeous smile, her lips curving up a little more on one side than the other.
"You would? I would love to read more. Besides, there isn't much I can do while sitting here all day."
"That's true. Don't worry.....I'll either bring some books myself or send them with someone if I am unable to visit. You haven't left the medical wing yet, have you?" Theo asked trying to see if he can set his plan into motion.
He watched eagerly as she shook her head.
"There is a small park just behind the medical wing. I can take you there if you want." Theo waited for her reply while holding his breath. He watched as she hesitated for a second and then said "Sure...I'd love to...Thanks."
Theo beamed at her answer and stood up abruptly. "Okay...then.... I'll try to be here by six in the evening. See you in the evening."
He watched as she scrunched her face but smiled nonetheless and waved her hand in reply. Theo let out a sigh as soon as he exited the medical wing.
Research..... he needed to do some research and that too fast..... and then tell everything to Azraiel.
Fuck!!
He smirked at that thought. Azraiel is going to be soooo pissed.
This should be fun.
*******
Charlotte was still looking at the door after Theo just left.
Theo... a smile grazed her lips.
Maybe.. they are not who they are pretending to be. Maybe they have ulterior motives but would it do any good to give way to negative thoughts when nothing bad has happened?
Hell no.
She had lived most of her life being cautious around people. For the first time in her life, there was no when making her second guess her decisions. For the first time in her life, she was feeling free.....to be herself.... to be the person she has always wanted to be.
These people didn't know her. They wouldn't be able to criticize her for not doing something she has apparently been doing all her life. No....... This is her second chance At life. She can be whoever she wants to be.....whatever she wants to be....
And she will.
She hasn't met a lot of people from this pack but the ones she met have done nothing but good for her. Matt has visited her daily....just keeping her company if not participating in the conversation. Dr. Humphrey has been so sweet to her.... and those nurses.... God, they are a blessing. They help her with everything and anything. Even Theo seems good-hearted. She is sure if she had a younger brother, he would be like Theo.
And there is Azraiel....the person she owes her life to. If he hadn't allowed her to stay in his pack, she would probably be dead by now. That man with a hard stare had not only offered her shelter but a place in his pack ....in his family. She was a stranger and yet he offered her safety when he could have easily gotten rid of.
Charlotte knew it has been just a few days but she has grown to respect these people. Sure, she was still cautious, but being good to strangers is a lot more difficult than one can imagine. If not...then wouldn't everyone be nice to everyone on earth? There would be no bullying, no shaming, no crimes, no people feeling deceived without crimes committed against them?
No..Right? It's difficult...really really difficult to be selfless and help people.
And so she decided, no matter what happens, every second that she is alive on these pack grounds, she'll devote herself to these people.
Yes, she made a decision long before she knew she has a choice. If she survives the shift, she'll stay in the Blue Orchid pack as a pack member and serve these werewolves that are so misunderstood.
She'll live and become a member of the pack.....SOON...
