Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Felicity, Thumbs Up for Your Wit!
Felicity felt like her mind was spinning out of control.
She had just given her body to her first boyfriend in over 20 years, only to discover that he was a kidnapper with antisocial tendencies. Yet, his file was marked as a high-level secret, something that hardly seemed like the treatment a typical criminal would receive. The more she thought about Su Sheng, the more mysterious he seemed, and the more helpless she felt, unsure of how to handle the situation.
The one thing she knew for certain was that being with Su Sheng was definitely more thrilling than the time she hacked into the Department of Defense at seventeen!
As she looked over at Su Sheng, who was lying down, Felicity decided to close her computer and join him. Since she didn't know how to handle things, she figured she might as well leave it to time. Exhausted for the first time in over 20 years, Felicity quickly fell asleep in Su Sheng's arms.
As the saying goes, don't worry about what can't be solved today, because it might not be solved tomorrow either. When Felicity woke up, she still didn't have any epiphanies or solutions. Time, it seemed, wasn't inclined to deal with this mess either. So, she decided to go about her usual routine—dressing, washing up, and eating—before heading to work. But before she left, she gave Su Sheng a spare key. She didn't know how he had gotten back the previous night, but it was definitely... not through normal means.
With the key in hand, Su Sheng didn't bother going out. He lazed on the sofa, basking in the sun as his thoughts wandered. If Felicity was destined to be Green Arrow's girlfriend, he could mess with her and then confront Green Arrow later, saying, "Your girlfriend's pretty good." But now that Felicity was his girlfriend before meeting Green Arrow, things were different.
Su Sheng had no intention of changing his habit of quickly losing interest in relationships. He didn't mind breaking up, nor did he fear the drama that might follow, like jealousy or revenge. In fact, he found the idea of a love-hate relationship rather thrilling. The only thing he couldn't stand was someone else complaining about him the way people complained about Green Arrow.
Life is just a journey—people come and go, passing through each other's lives.
But others passing by too? Brain fart!
Su Sheng thought about it for a while and decided that the best course of action was to find something for Felicity to do—something meaningful, something she could pursue every day for the rest of her life.
Like being a hero?
Felicity had a strong sense of justice. Although her physical fitness wasn't great, her hacking skills were exceptional, more than enough to be a logistical hero.
"On the first day of confirming a relationship, I'm already preparing for a breakup. I must be the only one who does this. Impulse really is the devil!" Su Sheng sighed deeply. Since he planned to train Laurel to become Black Canary, why not also prepare Felicity to become a vigilante?
It seemed rather fitting—if Felicity became his ex-girlfriend and also a symbol of justice in a city, then wherever he went, he'd have ex-girlfriends spread across different cities. The thought was a bit wild, but undeniably exciting.
So when Felicity returned from work, Su Sheng still cooked dinner for her, hung up her coat, and then dragged her to the living room to explain the situation with Laurel.
"The Queen's Gambit accident wasn't an accident; it was man-made? That's big news!" Felicity looked at Su Sheng in surprise. "How do you know something like that?"
"I have my ways," Su Sheng said, smiling.
Felicity, after pondering for a moment, began to wonder if Su Sheng might be some sort of secret government agent. That would explain why his information was classified and why he was pretending to be a bad guy, possibly as a cover for his real mission.
The thought comforted Felicity, easing her anxiety. She even smiled and asked, "Do you need my help with anything?"
"Just keep an eye on Laurel," Su Sheng replied.
"No problem, leave it to me!" Felicity assured him, patting her chest confidently.
After dinner, Felicity got to work on her computer, setting up surveillance on Laurel. Monitoring someone without any direct contact or connection to their devices was difficult, but Felicity wasn't just anyone. A super hacker capable of breaching the Department of Defense, she hacked into the local communications company to find Laurel's phone number, obtained the internal code signals, and set up a system to track the phone's location at any time. She even rigged it to record and send the content of each call to a newly created email account.
"It's done!" Felicity said with a satisfied grin. "As long as she has her phone, whether it's on or off, you can track her location anytime with this software. I'll leave this computer at home and teach you how to use it."
Su Sheng listened intently as she explained. After a while, he asked curiously, "So, as long as you have the communication company's internal code signal, you can monitor someone's location anytime? Did you write this software yourself?"
"Yeah!" Felicity replied with a proud smile.
"Isn't this illegal? What did you originally plan to use it for?"
"Well, at the time, my roommate's boyfriend had been cheating on her for a while. I was bored, so I wrote this software, but I never actually used it," Felicity explained, a bit embarrassed, quickly changing the subject. "By the way, it seems like you don't have a phone. Should I get you one?"
"…"
Was this an explanation, or a hint?
Su Sheng gave Felicity a thumbs up for her wit!
