Chapter 11: Chapter Eleven

Chapter 11

Justina's Point Of View

"For me to find out ugh?" I thought about what Dawn said and also what my mother said.

Maybe they are right.

Maybe Jasper was never my destiny, maybe it was someone else.

But who?!

The thought bothered me even though I tried to shake it off, why?

I brought out my phone carefully scrolling through it, I didn't have much.

"Wait-"

I thought about manifesting my powers- it may seem crazy but it's worth a try right?

I called my mom who picked after 4 rings.

"Hey, you good Tina?"

"Yes, I am. I wanted to ask. Is it possible for my powers to manifest?"

Her voice suddenly changed and her tone became more serious. "Any reason why? Is there a problem?"

"No. It's just I was wondering, can I activate them? I mean I should be old enough, right?"

She took a long pause before replying. "Well, the thing is... Things like this can't be forced, it happens naturally."

"So... I can't force it?"

"It may not be good and I don't think it's the right time."

"Why?"

"Because I still have a lot to teach you, how to master it, how to control it. You haven't learned that. If you aren't careful, your powers could destroy you."

"Oh."

"But, don't worry," her voice changed into her normal tone. "That's why you have me, I'll teach you and show you."

"Of course, thanks."

"Don't worry, very soon. Everything will fall into place."

"Ugh? I'm lost."

"Don't worry. Goodnight."

She dropped the call before I could speak... That was weird.

The next day.

It was an off day for me and Dawn, since we had nothing to do, we both decided to walk around the clan.

"Guess you might as well show me places I've never been to," I said as I sat on the floor munching on snacks.

"Okay okay." She sighed and stretched her hands taking a loud yawn.

She got dressed and packed her hair in a ponytail before taking me by the arm and leading me outside.

When we got out, I removed my scarf and wrapped it around my neck. "Let the air touch my face please."

"Suit yourself." She shrugged.

As we embarked on our morning exploration, the world around us was bathed in the soft light of dawn. The sky was just beginning to rise, painting the sky in hues of pink and gold. The streets were quiet, the air filled with the gentle chirping of birds welcoming the new day.

With a sense of anticipation, we set out on our journey. The cool breeze caressed my face stirring a sense of excitement within me.

"Good morning Dawn!" A shopkeeper greeted us as we passed, we both waved at him and continued walking. The shopkeepers opened their doors, setting up for the day ahead. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air, little children running early to school while teenagers just hang around in the trees, and wolves can be seen from far away.

"Wow, this is beautiful," I muttered.

"Indeed." Dawn nodded.

She gasped when she saw an open field. "Come on! Let's go!" She gently pulled my arm leading me towards it.

"Hey!" She waved at the three people who were hanging around there.

"Hi." They waved back.

"Mind we join?"

"Sure," a guy wearing a grey hoodie replied without even looking at us while the other shrugged.

We both sat on the field, after a few minutes Dawn got up. "Let me go get us something refreshing."

"Okay."

Immediately after she left, I brought out my phone, scrolling randomly. I wanted to avoid having a conversation with them as it was already awkward.

"Hi," The girl who sat opposite me waved. "How are you?"

"Fine, you?"

"I'm chill." She ticked against the roof of her tongue. "So you pregnant?"

I looked down at my tummy and sighed. Sometimes I forget that it's already showing, for 4 months now.

"Yeah."

"What's it like?" She tilted her head to the side.

"Ugh?"

"Like, what's it like to be pregnant." She repeated.

"Oh, I-"

"Stop asking weird questions, Camila." The guy wearing a grey hoodie replied. He turned to me with a grunt.

"Sorry, my younger sister can be weird."

"It's alright, it was a harmless question anyway."

"Okay."

Just like that silence took over again until Dawn showed up holding two cups, she handed one to me while she took the other.

"Orange juice for you, coffee for me."

"Thanks."

We then left the field and went to the lake near her den, I sat close to the bank of it while Dawn removed her clothes.

Before I could speak she shifted into her wolf.

"Wow, you must have missed your wolf ugh?"

She rolled her eyes at me and started running around, not too fast so she wouldn't get hurt.

I noticed that she was finding it a bit hard to rest her front paw then I remembered- Dawn your injury!

"Dawn! How's your injury?!" I yelled.

The wolf snapped its head towards me and gently licked its paw.

"Guess she's alright then."

After some minutes, I fell asleep but was disturbed when Dawn kept jumping up and down around me.

"Ohhh I feel so ALIVE!"

"Calm down!"

"I can't! It's been a month since I've had fun like that," She breathed out and sat on the floor. "What's up with you?"

"I was enjoying my peaceful sleep before you disturbed it." I groaned.

"Sorry, not sorry."

A call interrupted my calm peace at first I ignored but then again who would call me??

"Mom?" I opened my eyes and picked up my phone, I looked over at Dawn who was fast asleep beside me.

No, it wasn't my mom but an unknown number. I dialed the number but no one answered so I dialed it again and again until it said it was switched off and I stopped.

For some odd reason, I felt paranoid and my breath hitched. Is someone playing tricks on me?
