Akeru woke up with a groan.
That fight was something. Let's see, my mana reserves have recovered, that's cool. Still, I am a bit hungry, Akeru thought while getting up from a bush and then removing some energy bars from his bag.
He quickly devoured those, and his hunger was quenched.
Let's see, how the hell did I predict all his moves? Even the spells I had never seen before were predicted by me. Heck, it didn't even feel like a fight in the end, it was one-sided. I was able to see all his moves, Akeru pondered over his state during the fight.
After thinking for a bit, he reached a conclusion.
It's not like I couldn't replicate that. It's just that it would take me a decent amount of time to analyze him. But during the battle, not only was my analyzing speed very fast, but some of the deductions were based on my instincts, leading them to be very fast. Akeru tried to replicate that state but wasn't able to, even after trying for nearly 30 minutes.
Was it an adrenaline thing or something? Akeru thought while frowning.
Klang.
Huh, Akeru's eyes widened as he heard a very soft sound of air.
In the next instant, his mask got cut into two and fell down.
However, Akeru's least worry was his identity being revealed; it was the fact that his neck could have been cut instead of the mask, even without him noticing.
"I didn't expect the famous spy to be a kid. No wonder you don't have a grimoire," he heard a voice and looked up at a man with a bulky build standing on a branch.
How did he get near me before I even noticed him? Akeru thought while replaying the last few seconds.
I still can sense him... He... he slashed at me from nearly a mile away and in the next instant appeared on the branch. Akeru almost didn't want to believe his deduction, but the reality was in front of him.
"Cat got your tongue? Or do you want to say something, kid?" the man said with his katana sheathed, as though he had never lifted it in the last few seconds.
"It's my honor to meet the captain of the Black Bulls," Akeru said, not hiding his excitement.
He looked at Yami and tried to find some openings to attack.
I want to touch him once, Akeru instantly thought of a goal.
Huh? Akeru saw a number of red lines aimed at him from all directions in the front.
He took a few steps sideways, and the lines also changed positions, covering him.
So, these are the directions from which he could attack me? Each of them has the same thickness, similar to the tip of a blade, Akeru noticed this abnormality.
He had thought he was somehow predicting how Kaiser's attacks would hit him if they were launched, but just now he realized that Kaiser's flames were orange, not red.
He realized the same phenomenon here and deduced that it was his brain telling him how attacks were going to come according to his predictions.
Yami's eyes widened, and he had a devilish smirk, giving Akeru a bad feeling.
He noticed all the red lines disappeared except one red line aimed at his chest, and it got a darker shade of red.
Akeru quickly jumped back, and at that place, an air slash could be seen passing through the area where his chest had been.
The air slash hit a rock, and a loud noise could be heard from the impact.
"Oh, you know me? Has my fame spread that far?" Yami asked.
Before Akeru could reply, he saw a red line appearing on his head, and it immediately got darker.
He quickly ducked as an air slash came at him.
I can't even see him moving his sword, even with mana-enhanced eyes, Akeru marvelled.
"Yeah, you are my favourite captain," Akeru said and saw three red lines appearing on his body at the neck, head, and chest.
He noticed that the one on his neck got darker first, leading him to take a step back as an air slash passed through that area.
He could not only notice where he was going to be hit but also the trajectory of the attacks by looking at the curved lines passing through his various parts. At this time, two lines were aimed at his head and chest.
They got darker at almost the same time, leading Akeru to use Moonwalk and dash backward, dodging both attacks.
Akeru could see what Yami was currently doing.
"Oh? I've got a fan. Now that's unusual, I dare say. So tell me, what do you like about me?" Yami asked with an amused expression.
"Hehe, I want to surpass my limits right here, right now," Akeru said.
This was his favourite line of the entire series.
It might sound a bit childish, but he had been a fan of Yami for a long time and had taken this line seriously while training in this life.
Yami's eyes widened, and his smirk grew wider.
"Hehe, I already like you, kid. I would help you surpass your limits." Countless lines appeared on Akeru's body, but the latter didn't panic.
He had asked for this and was ready to deal with it.
His hands were covered in blue, along with his whole body, indicating the use of mana skin.
Next, the color on his hands started flickering.
Oscillatory Dysfunction. Akeru had already seen the power of each slash until now, so he planned accordingly.
Not all lines got darker; however, multiple lines got darker at different rates.
Head.
Deflect.
Neck.
Deflect.
Head.
Deflect.
He started deflecting all the attacks successively.
Chest.
Deflect? Akeru's eyes widened as the line on his chest, which had gotten darker before reaching the threshold Akeru identified as the point when the attack was launched, suddenly got lighter.
This increases the complexity since he could change his intention of attack at the last second, Akeru grinned.
For the next minute, the added complexity caused many attacks to land on him, and some even made Akeru bleed. However, his grin only grew wider.
I can see it, he started understanding the difference between feints and real attacks.
He just had to think a few steps ahead from the enemy's perspective and choose the best option according to his instincts.
Those slashes started landing fewer hits before vanishing completely.
"What a monster," Yami muttered, looking at the kid able to predict his attacks completely.
Suddenly, all the red lines disappeared from Akeru's point of view.
He looked at Yami.
"Attack me," Yami ordered.
Akeru furrowed his brows and looked at Yami.
For some reason, I feel like he meant something else, Akeru thought while forming a water ball near his palm.
He tried to think about how he was going to attack Yami; however, all the ways he thought of didn't yield any results.
"Use all your five senses," Yami suggested.
All my senses? Akeru thought while focusing on all his senses.
From what I can see, it's a mixture of instinct and my own prediction, with the latter having more weight, Akeru thought, trying to keep all that in mind while planning to attack Yami.
A blue line appeared on Yami's right knee.
Akeru's eyes widened; however, he didn't attack just yet.
That's a fake opening, Akeru thought while looking at a blue line on Yami's right shoulder and releasing the water ball in the same arc as the blue line he saw.
The water ball hit Yami in the shoulder; however, a purple sheen of mana covered his shoulder, preventing any real damage.
"Kid, I am impressed. Didn't expect you to properly learn Ki right here," Yami said, taking a drag of his cigarette.
"Ki?" Akeru walked toward Yami while asking.
"Every object or being has life energy whose flow is called Ki. One can learn to sense other people's Ki and predict their attacks. I noticed you using partial Ki, which I helped you refine."
"Oh, thank you so much," Akeru bowed.
"I never said it was free. That would be 5000 Yuls," Yami shamelessly said while stretching out his hand.

A/n- All these red and blue lines I am speaking of are in Akeru's head and only he can see it, it's more like visualizing how attacks are gonna come at him(red lines) or he is going to attack(blue). More will be explained later
