Bleach: I Have No Talent

Chapter 16: 15: The Test of Survival and Blood

The chaos of the Sand and Sound invasion had subsided for now, leaving Shiro standing in the ruins of Konoha. His body trembled as he wiped blood and sweat from his face, each breath labored. Around him, the remnants of the village smoldered, and the cries of the wounded filled the air.

Shiro had fought tooth and nail, relying on his limited training to survive. He clenched his Asauchi tightly, the blade streaked with blood. Despite the destruction around him, the system's earlier notification rang in his mind like a haunting echo:

Main Mission: Help to stop Orochimaru and Sand Ninjas from completely destroying Leaf Village.

Penalty: Death.

Shiro exhaled sharply. "I have to keep moving... I have to survive."

He was alone here, completely out of his depth. Aizen, Haruto, and everything familiar were frozen in time, their worlds paused. It was just him and this hostile battlefield.

As he steeled himself, his Sharingan activated instinctively, catching movement from the corner of his eye. A shadow darted toward him with surgical precision. Shiro barely managed to leap back, avoiding a kunai aimed at his throat.

Standing before him now was none other than Kabuto Yakushi, Orochimaru's right hand. His glasses glinted ominously in the faint light, and a smug grin tugged at his lips.

"Well, well," Kabuto said, his voice smooth and mocking. "A strange outsider meddling in our affairs. You're no ninja I recognize. Care to explain yourself?"

Shiro raised his sword defensively, trying to keep his breathing steady. "I don't owe you an explanation."

Kabuto chuckled, adjusting his glasses. "How brave. But bravery won't save you. Let's see if you're worth Orochimaru-sama's attention."

The Fight Begins

Kabuto lunged forward, his hands glowing with the chakra scalpel technique. Shiro's Sharingan tracked the movement, but his body wasn't fast enough to fully react. Kabuto's strike grazed his side, leaving a searing pain as shallow cuts formed.

Shiro gritted his teeth, activating Shunpo to create distance. He reappeared a few feet away, aiming his palm at Kabuto.

"Byakurai!"

A streak of lightning burst forth, crackling through the air. Kabuto dodged with ease, his movements precise and calculated.

"Impressive," Kabuto taunted. "You have some interesting tricks, but you lack experience. Let me show you what real combat looks like."

Kabuto dashed forward again, his chakra scalpels aimed at Shiro's joints. Shiro deflected with his Asauchi, sparks flying as the blade clashed against Kabuto's chakra-coated hands. The impact jolted Shiro's arms, his inexperience with Zanjutsu showing.

"You're sloppy," Kabuto sneered, his scalpel nicking Shiro's shoulder.

Shiro staggered back, blood dripping from his wounds. His chest heaved, and his mind raced. Kabuto was faster, stronger, and far more skilled. Shiro had to think quickly.

"Water Style: Water Prison Jutsu!"

A swirling sphere of water erupted from Shiro's hand, aiming to trap Kabuto. For a moment, the jutsu connected, encasing Kabuto in the sphere. Shiro tightened his grip, pouring his energy into maintaining the technique.

But Kabuto smirked within the prison. "A clever trick... but not clever enough."

With a surge of chakra, Kabuto broke free, shattering the prison and sending water spraying everywhere. Shiro shielded his face as Kabuto appeared before him in an instant, delivering a powerful strike to his stomach.

Shiro crashed into a pile of rubble, coughing up blood. His vision blurred, and for a moment, despair gripped him. He was outmatched.

"System, show my status," he thought desperately.

The numbers weren't encouraging. His strength and endurance were nowhere near enough to match Kabuto's precision and experience.

But he couldn't give up.

Shiro forced himself to his feet, his grip on the Asauchi tightening. He remembered his training in Hakuda—the basics of close combat. It wasn't much, but it would have to do.

Kabuto rushed at him again, but this time, Shiro was ready. His Sharingan caught the subtle shifts in Kabuto's movements, allowing him to sidestep the incoming strike. Using the momentum, Shiro countered with a sweeping kick, catching Kabuto off guard and sending him skidding back.

Kabuto's grin faltered for a moment, replaced by mild annoyance. "Not bad. You're adapting... but you're still out of your league."

Shiro didn't respond. Instead, he dashed forward with Shunpo, closing the gap in an instant. He slashed at Kabuto with his Asauchi, forcing the rogue ninja to block with his chakra-coated hands.

The clash sent a shockwave through the air, and Shiro seized the moment.

"Shō!"

A sudden burst of force erupted from his palm, slamming into Kabuto and sending him flying into a nearby wall. The impact cracked the stone, and Kabuto groaned as he staggered to his feet.

Shiro panted heavily, his body screaming in protest. He was running out of energy fast, and Kabuto still looked ready to fight.

But Kabuto wasn't unscathed. Blood dripped from his mouth, and his movements were slightly slower now. "You're persistent, I'll give you that. But persistence alone won't save you."

Kabuto formed a series of hand seals, summoning another massive snake to the battlefield. The creature lunged at Shiro, its fangs gleaming.

Shiro dodged with Shunpo, reappearing above the snake. He aimed his palm downward, channeling his remaining energy.

"Byakurai!"

The lightning bolt struck the snake's head, causing it to roar in pain. But before Shiro could land another attack, Kabuto appeared behind him, delivering a sharp blow to his back.

Shiro hit the ground hard, coughing up blood. His vision darkened, and his body refused to move.

Kabuto loomed over him, his smirk returning. "You fought well... but this is the end."

As Kabuto raised his chakra scalpel for the finishing blow, Shiro's mind raced. He couldn't die here—not like this.

With one final surge of willpower, Shiro activated his Water Prison Jutsu, trapping Kabuto's arm in a sphere of water. The sudden move forced Kabuto to hesitate, giving Shiro just enough time to thrust his Asauchi forward, grazing Kabuto's side.

Kabuto hissed in pain, pulling back. "You're full of surprises... but we'll finish this another time."

With that, Kabuto disappeared into the shadows, leaving Shiro slumped on the ground, barely conscious.
