Chapter 54: I Will Prove To You
At this moment, Hun Feng felt conflicted, as though a torrent of emotions swirled within him, leaving him speechless.
His expression turned grim.
He couldn't understand what Hun Yu's actions implied. Was Hun Yu suggesting that Hun Feng was easy to intimidate?
As the shadow of Hun Yu's "Titanic Finger" gradually solidified, Hun Feng realized he had no choice but to unleash his divine bloodline.
Without utilizing it, his remaining dou qi wouldn't suffice to fully execute the Great Handprint of the Sky, let alone counter Hun Yu's "Titanic Finger."
Hun Yu's relentless assault forced Hun Feng into a corner. If he didn't fight with everything he had, defeat—and possibly death—were inevitable.
Hun Feng understood that even if he managed to scrape by with a victory, he would likely be too exhausted to continue in subsequent matches. Hun Yu was right: if he couldn't obtain the prize, neither could Hun Feng.
As the intensity of their battle reached its peak, Hun Dun, the referee, frowned and glanced toward Hun Tiandi, seated in the center of the platform.
Hun Dun sought direction, as his position barred him from interfering with fights among the younger generation. Yet, this was no ordinary situation.
Hun Tiandi, ever calm and composed, watched the desperate battle. His eyes flickered with a peculiar light, though it vanished as quickly as it appeared.
Meeting Hun Dun's gaze, the emperor gave a subtle nod, an unspoken instruction to intervene.
---
Hun Xiu observed the clash from afar and shook his head. "These two are utterly reckless."
He murmured to himself, "If you can defeat someone in one move, why waste energy on two? Don't push yourself unnecessarily."
The surrounding elders also had varying thoughts but refrained from speaking, deferring to Hun Tiandi's authority.
Hun Huan'er, watching the intense fight, smirked slightly.
Let them wear each other down, she thought. When both are exhausted, the opportunity to claim Master Void's sub-fire will fall to me.
For her, Hun Yu and Hun Feng's injuries meant a higher likelihood of achieving her own goals.
---
As Hun Yu and Hun Feng prepared to unleash their ultimate moves, Hun Dun raised his palm, releasing a wave of invisible power.
The shadow of the "Titanic Finger" and the "Great Handprint of the Sky" dissipated instantly. The ferocity of their auras also subsided under his intervention.
"Elder," the two combatants exclaimed in unison.
Hun Dun addressed them sternly. "Victory or defeat will be decided by points."
"This is a family competition, not a life-and-death struggle. Know when to stop."
Turning to the audience, Hun Dun announced, "The winner is Hun Feng."
Hun Feng breathed a sigh of relief, clasping his fists toward Hun Dun. "Thank you, Elder."
Despite his gratitude, he knew that without the elder's intervention, he would have been too drained to fight any further matches.
Hun Yu, on the other hand, swallowed his pride and acknowledged the elder's authority. "Hun Yu dares not object."
Hun Dun nodded. "Good. And let this be clear: I don't want to see divine bloodlines being used a second time. Understood?"
The younger generation collectively answered, "Understood."
---
As night fell, the sky lit up with a scattering of stars.
The day's matches were over, with twenty-five participants advancing. The remaining twenty-five would compete tomorrow.
In his courtyard, Hun Yu stood under a large tree—a tree planted alongside his mother years ago. Its towering presence now seemed to mock him.
"What are you trying to prove?"
A deep, cold voice rang out from behind him.
Hun Yu turned sharply to see Hun Tiandi. His heart raced as he bowed. "Patriarch, why are you here?"
Hun Tiandi's aura darkened. "Why am I here?" he echoed icily.
An overwhelming pressure radiated from Hun Tiandi, forcing Hun Yu to his knees.
"You know I forbid internal strife within the clan. Proving your worth shouldn't mean risking your life," the Hun Tiandi declared. "If you want to surpass Hun Feng, train harder. Show restraint and discipline."
Hun Yu coughed violently under the crushing pressure, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. Despite the pain, he could only lie prostrate on the ground, unable to move.
"This is your lesson for today," Hun Tiandi said coldly before vanishing into the night.
As the oppressive aura lifted, Hun Yu clenched his fists, wiping the blood from his lips.
"I will prove to you," he vowed quietly, "that I am no weaker than Hun Feng."
