Chapter 18: Chapter 18
Alpha Arlo Bianchi - POV
I felt like my skin was burning while a dull pain spread throughout my body. "Leo?" I called out to my wolf, but I didn't hear from him. Everything was dark around me, I felt like I was almost paralyzed. Gradually, my sense of hearing returned along with my sense of smell. I forced my eyes to open, and after a few tries, I managed to open them as I stared up at a white ceiling.
My nostrils were filled with the scent of disinfectant along with the sweet scent of cinnamon and lavender. "Arlo." I turned my head to the right when I saw Bella's face which was stained with tears. She looked astonished to see me. "I…It worked." she kept mumbling as she walked backward.
"Bella?" my voice sounded hoarse, and it was painful to even speak that one word.
"I will get the doctor," she said as she ran out of the room. I looked towards the window when I saw that the sun was shining bright outside.
Thank god I was only out for a few hours.
I slowly pushed myself off the bed and sat against the headboard as I scanned my body. There was a bandage wrapped around my chest, and various wires were attracted to my skin. I pulled them all out, leaned my head back, and closed my eyes. I still felt weak, and my muscles ached as I felt the silver still in my system.
"Alpha Bianchi!" I looked towards the door when the doctor rushed in with one of his nurses, and all of them looked equally shocked to see me awake.
"Why do you look like you have seen a ghost?" I growled while I directed my attention back to my mate. Fresh tears flowed down her cheeks, but right now, there was a smile plastered on her face.
"I still cannot believe it, Alpha Bianchi." the doctor kept mumbling when he abruptly turned around to face the nurse. "Draw some blood samples and give them to the lab immediately. I want to see what is going on in his blood," he instructed, and the woman nodded her head and walked towards me.
I was starting to get irritated, and before she could step closer to me, I promptly got up from the bed, snatched the IV needle out from my vein, and threw it away. Blood dropped on the floor, but I felt my skin quickly heal.
"I am not your fuckng lab rat, doctor. I was only out for a few hours. And you of all people should know that an Alpha can withstand silver." I yelled as I felt my alpha aura project towards him, making him bow his head down at me.
"Alpha, you were out cold for two days, and your condition only worsened." the doctor slowly looked up. "The probability of you surviving was only twenty percent, Alpha Bianchi. The silver was close to your heart, and it is a miracle that you came back." as he kept explaining, I felt my mind drift off. Silver is a fatal poison for werewolves, and there is no cure for it, if what he is saying is the truth, then how on earth did I come back?
My eyes moved towards my mate when I saw her eyes slightly widen in shock before she looked away. I was about to question her when Jacob and Sofia burst into the room. "Arlo, thank god you are all right."
Isabella Martini - POV
I felt my heart nearly stop when Arlo stared at me with a suspicious look on his face, but I guess I must thank Jacob and Sofia for saving my ass. It's not that I don't want to tell him how he got cured, but I felt like now was not the best time to tell him. While everyone was hovering over him, I slowly slipped out of the room and waited outside.
Ten minutes later, Arlo walked out of the room, and he stopped right in front of me. He stared at me for a couple of minutes before he walked out of there. "Bella." I turned around when I saw Sofia come towards me. "Now that Arlo is out of danger, I think you should go and take some rest," she suggested, and I nodded my head and walked out of there.
As I walked out of the elevator, my nostrils were filled with the scent of blueberries and honey, and this made me stop and take a deep breath as my lungs filled with my mate's scent while I felt a spark rush through my body.
I opened my eyes again and looked around when I heard noises from his bedroom. I walked closer to his door and placed my ear on it when I heard the shower running. "He might be hungry," Rose said.
"Let's make some soup for him," I said and walked towards the kitchen.
"I was thinking maybe order something from the kitchen. I don't trust your cooking skills." Rose mocked, and this made me pause.
"How could you think so low of me, Rose? I will prove to you today that I can cook." I asserted and walked into the open kitchen with a new sense of determination. It has been an hour since Arlo went to take a shower, and so far, the soup that was cooking in the pot does smell good.
I moved toward the fridge, grabbed a box of eggs, vegetables, and some fresh cream, and walked toward the countertop again. I grabbed the iPad that was next to me and searched for a pasta recipe. After fifteen minutes of browsing, I began to cook.
"Viola!" I said it out loud as I placed the bowl of pasta on the table and stood back as I looked at my masterpiece with a huge smile on my face. It took me three hours to prepare everything, and from the aroma that came from this, I had a feeling that it would taste good as well.
"What are you doing?" I looked up when I saw Arlo standing near the living room with a confused look on his face.
