Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Regular Start
Chabashira-sensei didn't tell the class teachers from other classes about Kanda Shuichi's attempt to exploit a bug, but instead reported it directly to the school's examination committee.
The examination committee was a special organization responsible for exams across the three grades. This committee included school staff as well as a special member—the current student council president.
After Chabashira Sae sent the information back, they immediately organized a meeting to discuss the matter.
However, an hour had already passed, and there was still no answer.
"This is a serious violation! This year's Class D is truly out of control!"
"Isn't using the rules in a smart way exactly what we expect? The fact that Class D has students with such creative ideas is precisely why we established Class D."
"No, no, no, I think students like this shouldn't be in Class D."
"Enough! This isn't the time to talk about whether Class D is suitable for them. We need to focus on resolving the issues with this exam first."
The adults in the meeting argued nonstop, each ignoring the others. Some wanted to fix the issue immediately, while others believed it was the students' own ability and shouldn't discourage their enthusiasm.
"Manabu, what do you think?"
Finally, the adults turned to the student council president, Horikita Manabu.
"Since that's the case, let me share my opinion."
"First, since the loophole exists because of the school's rules, the loophole should be fixed and the rules should be changed."
Upon hearing this, those who supported rule changes showed smug expressions.
"However, this was a mistake made by the school. As the ones who raised the issue, the students shouldn't bear the losses. So, I suggest we leave this issue to be resolved in the next exam and not address it this time."
"Hahahaha!"
When Horikita Manabu finished speaking, laughter erupted in the meeting room. Those who had been so smug about fixing the issue now looked uncomfortable, as if they had eaten something unpleasant.
"But if that's the case, other classes might suffer greatly in this exam."
"That's fine. In the end, it's their fault for not noticing. If they can't handle this kind of setback, then even if they graduate from Class A, they won't be ready for society."
And so, everything was decided under the biased favoritism of Horikita Manabu, who was a bit of a brother complex.
When Kanda Shuichi received this news, he was already at the camp.
Seeing Kanda Shuichi resting by the river, Chabashira Sae calmed her excited emotions and walked over to him.
"Kanda, the school has responded."
When Kanda Shuichi saw Chabashira Sae's expression, he knew this matter had been resolved, and it seemed like it wasn't a bad outcome.
"How is it, Chabashira-sensei?"
Chabashira Sae gave Kanda Shuichi a strange look. She had already entrusted the exam to Ayanokouji, even going as far as threatening the students with her position as a teacher. But she never expected the situation to change so dramatically just hours into the exam.
"The school acknowledges the existence of multiple leaders. However, if one is identified by another class, all additional points will be lost, and 50 initial points will be deducted."
"Since you already considered the possibility of multiple leaders, I'm sure you have a solution for this, right?"
Hearing this, Kanda Shuichi smiled. "Before we go further, let me confirm something first, Chabashira-sensei..."
A few minutes later, as Kanda Shuichi walked away, Chabashira Sae couldn't help but smile, her mouth turning up at the corners. She hadn't expected this to be an option. It seemed so simple and obvious now, but could anyone really think of such a solution under these unknown circumstances?
But she decided not to dwell on it. She had more important things to do, like making key cards—dozens of them. It was taking a bit longer than expected.
This key card was the key to Class D's victory in this exam.
Soon, the students from Class D, who had been out exploring, returned to their previous resting spot, where the students who had stayed behind brought them back.
Even Koenji, who usually did whatever he wanted, returned to the camp as promised, just as he said he would as an ordinary student for this exam.
"Hirata, I have an idea. I want to discuss it with you."
When Kanda Shuichi said this, Hirata immediately perked up.
"Yeah, wait a moment, I'll be right there."
After calling Hirata, Kanda Shuichi then called Horikita, Miyake, and Sudou.
Finally, when he saw Koenji resting against a tree, he hesitated for a moment before walking over.
"Koenji, I have an interesting plan. If it works, Class D won't have to deal with the issue of lacking resources during this exam. Are you interested?"
Upon hearing Kanda Shuichi's words, Koenji opened his eyes and casually ran his fingers through his long, flowing hair.
"You just threatened me, and now you're inviting me to join your plan? Do you really think I'll agree to your request?"
"How about we make a deal? If you help me this time, then if there's ever an exam where one person has to be expelled, I'll make sure you're safe."
For someone like Koenji, it's usually better not to threaten him, but making a deal seemed like a good option.
Also, even though Koenji had said before that he didn't care whether he graduated from Class A, he still hoped to graduate from Class A if possible.
As the only heir to the Koenji family, not graduating from Class A, or worse, not graduating at all, would definitely become a joke in high society.
Even if Koenji himself might not care, the company's stock price would certainly suffer.
So, the proposal Kanda Shuichi made did catch his interest.
"Can you actually do it?"
"Of course, I'll show you proof once we're back at school."
With the double temptation of guaranteed safety from expulsion and no need to endure during this exam, Koenji decided to at least hear Kanda Shuichi's plan.
But from Kanda Shuichi's point of view, the main reason Koenji agreed was that this exam wouldn't require endurance.
Soon, a few people gathered away from the camp. Aside from Kanda Shuichi, Koenji, Hirata, Miyake, Sudou, and Horikita, the girls were also physically strong.
"Shuichi, did you come up with some crazy idea again?" Miyake asked without hesitation.
"What do you mean crazy idea? That's a bit harsh," Kanda Shuichi replied.
"Haha, I'm just complimenting you sincerely."
Just as Kanda Shuichi was about to reveal his plan, Chabashira-sensei arrived with a keycard.
"Everyone's here."
Chabashira Sae threw a plastic bag to Kanda Shuichi and left. As a teacher, she couldn't openly get involved in the students' conflicts.
"Right on time, Chabashira-sensei."
Kanda Shuichi took the plastic bag from Chabashira-sensei, feeling the contents inside, and a wicked smile appeared on his face.
"What's that?"
"A keycard."
As he said this, Kanda Shuichi pulled out all the keycards from the plastic bag.
"These... are all...?"
Everyone, except Koenji, looked surprised. Upon seeing the cards, Koenji immediately burst into laughter.
"I see, this is really interesting. So, you offered those terms to invite me, huh?"
As expected, Koenji was different. The moment Kanda Shuichi took out multiple keycards, he immediately guessed Kanda Shuichi's plan.
"Exactly. I found a loophole in the rules for this exam and got multiple keycards from the school. This means Class D will have multiple leaders."
As he spoke, he began handing out the leader cards to the designated people.
"These cards are all valid, which means that anyone who holds their own leader card can capture a base and earn temporary points."
"We have six people here, so even if each person is responsible for two bases, after seven days, we'll have over 200 temporary points."
Hearing this, Sudou immediately became excited.
"Then what are we waiting for? We need to capture the bases, that's the key!"
"Wait a minute, if that's the case, what about the leader guess phase at the end?" Horikita, thinking more carefully than Sudou, asked. "Even if we capture many bases, once the leader is guessed, all those points will become invalid, right?"
"About that..." Kanda Shuichi smiled and started explaining.
"Is that really allowed?" Horikita Suzune asked in disbelief. "Is something like this even permitted?"
"Ah, I already asked Chabashira-sensei, and got a positive answer."
Kanda Shuichi showed a mischievous smile. "So, from now on, the base capture battle begins."
"Wait, you said 'capture'? The rules clearly state that if we use resources from other classes' bases, we'll lose 50 initial points."
"That's why I plan to use up all 300 initial points," Kanda Shuichi said naturally. "Once they're all gone, there won't be any initial points to deduct, and since I've used them all up, even if students want to go back to the ship, it's not a problem."
Kanda Shuichi had no intention of keeping any initial points; he wanted to enjoy the seven days of camping.
This was going to be a very interesting experience, and he absolutely didn't want to spend the days struggling with a lack of resources.
Patience? Sorry, the word "patience" isn't in my dictionary, Kanda Shuichi thought.
So, everyone! Let's go for a crazy hunt!
