Delayed Transfer

Chapter 343

Mark was looking at the theater that was set up by the circus and noticed that although people were purchasing the tickets in the ticket booth, it was not a lot but he was positive that once word of mouth spread, he knew that Hamil would probably increase the size of the theater tent.

Right now, the movie theater tent could only seat a hundred fifty people at most and he wondered how many seats Hamil would increase it to once the movies got popular.

He saw Hamil approaching him with a few people and when the circus leader neared him, he introduced three people to Mark.

“Mark, this is Roberto, Monor, and Keton. They’re the leaders of the other circuses.”

“Good afternoon, gentlemen. I’m one of the wizards here in Hamil’s circus.”

“Good afternoon, Sir Wizard. We were asking Hamil about the contraptions he was using to show his movies and he just kept telling us that it was lent to him by an archmage friend of his grandfather.”

Mark could see that Hamil was positively gleeful at the fact that he had something the other circuses didn’t have.

“And that dragon! Whoever thought that somebody would be able to tame a dragon and use it like that! Entertaining people for coins,” One of the other leaders said while still wearing a look on his face that said he wouldn’t believe it if he hadn’t seen it.

“As I told you, the dragon also came from the archmage,” Hamil said while smiling.

The others just shook their heads at what Hamil was saying regarding the new attractions in his circus. They could copy some of the new ones like the Haunted House but the movie theater and dragon ride were unique and they were envious of the amount of coins Hamil would earn from what Mark could see from the leaders’ expressions.

During the talk, Mark didn’t even speak. He just kept on nodding at the other circuses leaders while smiling and after a few more minutes, they went away to inspect the other parts of Hamil’s circus.

Mark then returned to the RV since he reckoned that the kids would be awake by now and when he entered, the twins and Liriel were just exiting the main bedroom.

“Mark! Where have you been? Did you go to the other circuses?” Isaac asked suspiciously.

“Of course not! I did promise you that when I go there I’ll bring you all with me. I just went to Yoda and the theater to check things out.”

“Mark, hungry!” Liriel suddenly shouted.

Mark and the twins were flabbergasted at Liriel’s first sentence. Although it only contained two words, that meant that she was now beginning to truly talk.

Mark and the twins cheered when they heard what Liriel said and the little girl joined them giggling. He then asked what they would like to eat for snacks and conjured it.

Mark and the kids went outside to check the circus but since it was already twilight, he decided to visit the other circuses the next day. They saw that Milena’s stall was already closed since all the items were sold out so they went to the new attraction in their circus, The Haunted House.

The Haunted House was an attraction that could be assembled and disassembled quickly by the circus people. The planning and designing of the makeshift house was done by the talented people from the circus so although it took a while for them to create it, Mark was sure that it would be great.

There was a long queue in the ticket booth outside the Haunted House but Mark ignored it and headed directly to the entrance. There were a couple of guards in the makeshift gate that he didn’t recognize but he ignored them and he was about to enter together with the kids when they were stopped by the guards.

“You will need to queue in the line and purchase a ticket before you can enter the Haunted House!” One of the guards said.

Mark was flabbergasted. Even though he didn’t know all of the people in the circus, he assumed that everyone knew him since he did own the void dragon that was flying above their circus. He then saw one of the people that he recognized running towards them.

“Koto, you idiot. That’s Mark the wizard who owns the dragon! He’s one of us! I know you brothers just joined us today but be mindful of the important people in the circus! If you piss him off, he’ll turn you into something and become part of our zoo!” The person who just arrived said.

The brothers who were assigned as guards to the Haunted House gate suddenly had fearful looks on their faces.

“How would we know! As you’ve said we’re new!” One of the newly hired guards said to the person who Mark thought could be one of Hamil’s friends or attendant or something.

“I’m sorry sir we didn’t know you,” The other guard said to Mark.

“You don’t need to worry. You’re both new.”

Mark, who was now carrying Liriel in his arms, and the twins entered the gate.

“Now this is a Haunted House attraction. It’s supposed to be scary but you have to remember that the monsters and ghosts that you will see inside are our people who are just wearing disguises, okay?”

The twins nodded, but Mark could see that they were a bit fearful since the people who made the attraction were truly talented. The house looked dilapidated and there were splashes of red paint that was supposed to look like blood. They also put in some sort of material that looked like cobwebs.

The Haunted House was built like a maze and the disguises of the people acting as monsters and ghosts were truly superb. Some of the monsters appeared from hidden alcoves and did a jump scare on them but as per Mark’s advice, nobody touched them. Then they were led to some rooms that had terrifying scenes.

Soon, the kids were clinging to him but they were laughing and giggling instead of fearfully screaming. Mark was guessing that the kids were able to recognize the people who were wearing the disguises.

Mark then remembered the Haunted Mansion on the twenty-ninth floor of his dungeon. That one was truly terrifying filled with horrendous ghosts and monsters.

Surprisingly, Mark and the kids took an hour before they fully navigated the whole haunted house and he thought that the amount of coins that the customers would pay to enter the attraction was worth it.

Mark suddenly wondered how Liriel's guardian wisp managed to differentiate the real enemies from the pretend enemies they encountered inside the haunted house attraction but he was glad nonetheless that it was able to or else there would be injured people lying down after the wisp attacked them.

He also wanted to commend the designers for the amount of lighting they put in inside and the actual color of the lights. It was dim but still bright enough for them to see everything.

“That was fun! I want to do it again!” Aaron said once they exited the Haunted House.

“Yes it was but we shouldn’t. We should allow the city people to experience it and not occupy the space meant for customers.”

Aaron pouted and then they all went to the theater to check the situation there. When Mark and the kids arrived at the theater slash tent, the queue in the booth that was selling the tickets was now massively long as expected.

After that, they visited Yoda and the people queuing for the ride were just as massive. Mark then knew that the circus would earn a huge amount of wealth from the people of Narcone.
