Delayed Transfer

The circus arrived in the town of Drovan at around lunch so after eating everyone was busy completing the setting up of the circus. Milena, Lisa, and Norleen were busy setting up their stall while Nedertu and Connor helped some of the others in the circus.

The twins and Liriel clamored to roam around the circus and the new town.

“You can only roam around once the circus is settled and opened! Right everyone is busy setting up,” Mark scolded the children.

“You’re doing nothing. You can look after us!” Isaac said to Mark.

Mark thought that the kid was right. He wasn’t helping anyone since when he did, he was told that he was making the setup process much slower. So he decided to roam the town together with the kids.

He carried Liriel in his arms while the twins walked by his side. The circus was set just outside the town and the makeshift entrance gate of the circus, which was just symbolic since there were actually no walls, was closed, indicating that the circus wasn’t open yet.

To his surprise, he saw some carriages arriving from the city of Narcone and when the people inside the arriving carriages saw the circus, they actually cheered loudly. Mark, with the kids in tow, went to one of the carriages.

“Excuse me sir, where are you from?” Mark asked the young men who were inside one of the carriages.

“We’re from Narcone and we wanted to watch the three Star Wars films again. We will keep following the circus until they show the rest of the nine movies!” the passionate young man said.

Mark then knew that these rich young people from Narcone were diehard fans of the Star Wars films who were idle and planned to keep following the circus. He wondered how long they could do it. Maybe he could establish a portal business wherein he could use the warp gate he made and then charge these young people portal fees. Since he would need a lot of mana stones, he would charge mana stones instead of gold coins so he would have the funds to pay powerful archmages to teach him how to establish a portal back to Earth. It was a thought but he would need to consider it carefully first.

Mark and the kids went ahead with their plan to roam the town but after about an hour of walking the kids got bored since nothing was exciting in the small town. There were nice places to look at like a park that was surrounded by trees and flowers and they all spent some time taking pictures using their tablets and they garnered some audience which were the town kids.

The twins were generous in allowing the town kids to look at the pictures they took and the town children were extremely amazed. Then the twins proudly announced to their new friends that they were from the circus and that their everyday lives were an adventure worthy of the most exciting story books. They also kept boasting that Mark, their brother was a powerful wizard who could conjure anything in the whole wide world which made him shake his head but he let the kids be.

The twins kept boasting that they owned Yoda the dragon and could ride him anytime they wanted and that they could ride the dragon as well once the circus opened. Then lastly they told the kids about the movies. They presented the film as some sort of miraculous show that would change their lives.

Listening to the twins, they sounded like evangelists on a mission and when Mark thought about it, they were. They were on a mission to find crew members for their space fleet.

They even show the Star Wars film trailers to the kids using their tablets. Mark didn’t know how the kids got a hold of the trailers but then it was a form of advertisement for the circus so he let the twins be. Liriel was watching the kids talk while she was in Mark’s arms.

Finally, the twins said something that made the town kids very happy. They announced that children below ten years old would be able to watch the films for free as long as they were accompanied by paying adults.

The kids then continued playing with each other while Mark looked on and soon some adults came to check up on their children. Since Mark was holding Liriel in his arms, he must have looked approachable since some parents approached him.

“Hey Mister, you from the circus,” A woman who looked like one of the mothers of the town kids asked.

“Yes ma'am,” Mark answered.

“I know about the special show that your circus is presenting since I have a relative from Narcone who just arrived and told me all about it. He kept saying that the shows were the best thing that he had ever seen in his life. I’m glad that your circus is allowing the kids to watch them for free but we still can’t afford the tickets,” The woman said.

“I don’t know the exact price yet but I’m sure that it would be very different from Narcone. Our circus set the prices of our tickets and products based on the location and a small town like yours would probably be charged way less compared to Narcone.”

“That’s good to know then but we know for a fact that the circus is like a plague that would devour all of our coins and we will be happy for it to devour them,” The woman said and laughed heartily.

The woman then joined her friends and told them what Mark had said.

“Mark, ice cream!’ Liriel suddenly said so he retrieved a table from his inventory and replicated a bowl of Rocky Road ice cream then gave it to her.

Aaron saw the ice cream bowl in front of Liriel so he immediately ran towards them and when Isaac saw his brother, he stopped playing with the town kids and joined his brother. Mark then gave bowls of ice cream. Isaac requested strawberry ice cream and Aaron asked for the ube ice cream which was an ice cream from his mother’s homeland.

The town kids were staring at the twins and Liriel eating ice cream so Mark sighed and gave each one of the town kids a bowl of ice cream of their own. To make it easier, he gave everyone chocolate ice cream.

The town kids kept exclaiming that it was the best food that they had ever eaten in their lives and the adults who stayed to make sure that Mark wouldn’t do anything nefarious to the town children walked towards him and asked him what kind of food he was giving to the kids.

He told the women that it was ice cream and gave a detailed description of what it was and then Mark gave them bowls of ice cream as well so everyone enjoyed their afternoon break. After everyone was done, the women from the town took it upon themselves to take the bowls and clean them and told Mark that they would give them back to him.

Mark would have told them that he could just take them again but he let them be. After eating ice cream, the kids went back to playing and even Liriel joined them. Mark saw that there were even kids her age who were being looked after by older ones and he let Liriel join them.
