Delayed Transfer

Chapter 388

It was already very late when Mark, the twins, and Liriel returned to the circus. When they arrived in the RV, he saw that Hamil and Dozon were waiting for him and he almost forgot that the circus leader and the others went to Narcone to talk to the council there regarding allowing the circus to establish a warp gate that would allow people to travel from the city to the circus and vice versa.

“Hamil, Dozon, I apologize. Me and the kids went to the town orphanage to donate some food for the children there. So how was your trip?” Mark asked the circus leader after he readied the children for sleep. Thankfully, due to their exhaustion from playing with the other children in the orphanage for several hours, they fell asleep immediately.

“It took a gruesome several hours of talking with the council before they tentatively agreed. Their archmages would have to examine the warp gate thoroughly first and you will have to move the warp gate to a location approved by Narcone’s council. It would probably be outside the city and we would have to construct an open building to house the warp gate. They will let us know tomorrow where exactly we can establish the gate,” Hamil said.

“They also insisted that Narcone guards be assigned to either side of the portal for the security of the city and also we have to give the city twenty percent of our daily earnings from the gate to Narcone,” Dozon added.

“Then I don’t have to move the gate immediately. You can go ahead and wait for Narcone to assign a location for the gate then construct the open building there. Once everything is ready, I can go ahead and go back to Narcone to move the portal from the park beside the Library of Monderro Dungeon to the assigned location,” Mark said to the two circus leaders.

“We will also need to talk to Drovan’s town village chief regarding the establishment of the warp gate. I’m guessing that the village chief would not be averse to us making the gate since it would inject coins into the local economy,” Hamil said.

“How long are we staying in this town anyway? I thought we would only be staying for a week?” Mark asked.

“We will hold a meeting regarding that but I prefer we stay here longer since we could go ahead and start our plan of holding the Star Wars convention in this location. We can use the open field beside the circus for the convention and it would also be a good advertisement for the warp gate. The only issue we need to solve is our ticket pricing. We don’t know how to price theater tickets and the tickets for the other acts as well,” Hamil said thoughtfully.

“I recommend that you price it however you price the tickets which is based on the local economy since the people from the big city would have to shoulder the warp gate price,” Mark suggested.

“We would probably do it that way but we will still include that agenda at the meeting tomorrow. This kind of busyness is something that I really like. It felt like the circus is now truly significant and I feel the respect Narcone council members that we talked to gave us just because we have the power to establish warp gates,” Dozon said while smiling widely, and based on Hamil’s expression, he agreed with Dozon wholeheartedly.

“The other circuses who didn’t join us because of that simple problem would probably gnash their teeth in jealousy once our warp gate operation starts,” Hamil gleefully said and Dozon just shook his head at Hamil’s comment.

With all of that going on, Mark knew that he couldn’t dive into his dungeon for now since the establishment of the gate was a huge thing and Hamil and the others would probably need him on hand.

“I’ll be in the RV if you need me or roaming around the circus or the town orphanage looking after the twins and Liriel while they were playing with the kids there. If you really need me you can talk to Milena. She had a way of contacting me from a distance,” Mark said.

The next day, Mark joined Hamil and the others in going to the warp gate beside the circus but he didn’t go with them to Narcone since he didn’t need to for now. After that, he went to Milena and Nedertu’s RV to replicate the items that they would sell for the day.

The twins and Liriel were being taught by Rendira so Mark wasted his morning roaming around the circus. He saw that the construction for the second and third theater tents was already ongoing and would probably be done in a few hours so that meant that he would need to provide the equipment to run the two new theater slash tents.

There were a lot fewer customers that day due to the simple fact that Drovan’s Town population was miniscule but soon he knew that the circus would be lively again with the customer from Narcone.

When the twin and Liriel's lessons with Rendira were done, Mark immediately wanted to leave with them to go to the orphanage so they could eat lunch there but before they could leave, Hamil and the elven sisters arrived. Mark sighed and knew that they wouldn’t be able to visit the orphanage that day so he prepared lunch for everyone instead and then followed Hamil and the elven sisters to the warp gate so they could return to Narcone.

“The Narcone council assigned the field just outside the city so we immediately hired a lot of people to construct an open building where you can establish the warp gate. Three archmages were guarding the gate while we did the construction as if they were afraid that would bring an army inside the city. Once the warp gate is established, we will need to give a list of names who were allowed to operate the warp gate and the council asked that we assign one of theirs. We had no choice but to agree for us to be able to establish that gate as soon as possible. Is that all right?” Hamil asked Mark and he just shrugged indicating that it actually didn’t matter to him.

Once they entered the warp gate, Mark saw they were back in Narcone and there were a lot of people watching the proceeding.

“Apparently, someone from the council already blabbered to their relatives about the existence of the warp gate which was a good thing for us since it’s a form of advertisement,” Mentorra said.

Mark immediately dispelled the warp gate and the gate disappeared, then he rode a carriage together with Hamil, the elven sisters, and the three archmages from the council of Narcone. He was glad that Hamil was entertaining the archmages since he didn’t want to talk to them.

To be honest about it, Mark was a bit resentful of the Narcone mages which was a bit illogical. He was actually blaming them a little for interrupting his plans of finding a way to go back to Earth. He planned to talk to the Narcone archmages regarding a way to be able to go back but because of greed and politics, that plan was interrupted.
