Delayed Transfer

They arrived at a field outside the city of Narcone and Mark was a bit shocked to see that there was a huge crowd in the area but upon closer look, the crowd consisted of young people who were die-hard fans of the Star Wars films.

“Apparently, some of the people here had friends who went to our circus and saw the announcement that we will be showing Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of The Clones, and Episode III: Revenge of The Sith in Drovan Village became highly envious and when the news that we would open a portal that could let them travel to the town instantaneously made these people ecstatic,” Eilintraee said.

“These people are so rich that they could afford the mana stones to purchase the travel expenditures?” Mark asked and it was Hamil who replied.

“Most of the people here are sons and daughters of the rich folks of Narcone. The only reason they didn’t travel to Drovan Town was they couldn’t get away from the city either because their parents did not allow them to or they had classes in the university,” Hamil said.

“Even some of the rich adventurers are willing to spend the two mana stones fee to travel back and forth since they only needed to spend several hours in a dungeon to get those and most of them had mana stone savings already. Only beginner adventurers had to scramble to get mana stones and I was informed by a friend that almost all the adventurers who were fans of the movies were now deep in the dungeon trying to get a hold of mana stones that they could use to travel to Drovan Town, especially when they heard that the next set of films would be shown there,” Dozon added.

The building that was constructed to house the warp gate only had a roof and one wall. The three sides were open and the roof was supported by pillars. There was a table and chair beside but that’s it.

“We decided to construct something basic that we could modify in due time depending on our needs. The government would probably construct an office and a guard house here depending on the success or situation of the warp gate,” Hamil said.

Mark asked where he could construct the warp gate and Hamil pointed at the single wall. At first, Mark thought that he would create the warp gate at the center of the building but he guessed that the others wanted to use the space for something.

When he cast the Warp Gate spell, two pillars came out from the ground resembling the pillars that were used to construct the building so the warp gate now looked like a part of the building that was just constructed by the carpenters that the circus hired. Mark then assigned one of the archmages to have access to the control panel of the gate. After that, Hamil instructed the archmages on how to operate the panel.

Mark was surprised to see the amazed expression on the three archmages' faces and this depressed him a bit since if they were amazed by this warp gate spell, how could they know anything about dimensional portals to other worlds? He did keep some hope since these archmages could be the low end of the totem pole in the mage organization here in Narcone and there could be more powerful wizards in the city who specialized in portals.

He wasn’t even in a hurry so he could take the time to slowly investigate how to portal back to Earth because honestly, he hadn’t been gone from Earth too long.

Based on the three archmages' behavior, it would probably take them some time before they complete the investigation. Soon a company of guards from Narcone arrived and Mark assumed that they would be the ones who would guard the warp gate here as well as the other side. Since Hamil was with the archmages answering all of their questions, Mark decided to summon chairs for him and the others and when he did, the three elven sisters retrieved their laptop from somewhere and started watching a movie. He gave them Bluetooth earbuds and taught them how to connect to use and connect them to the laptop so they could watch and listen to the movie without disturbing others.

The three elven sisters were delighted to use the earbuds but they were a bit annoyed at the few people who were watching them from outside the building construct.

Mark could even hear the young people discussing with each other about the show that the elven women were watching and they were debating if it was the continuation of the Star Wars film. From what he could hear, the sisters were watching a romantic film by the actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Shakespeare in Love. It’s as if the young people of Narcone thought that the only shows worth watching were Star Wars.

Mark also spent the time reading a web novel from his smartphone and he was also getting annoyed at the audience who were looking at them. It felt like they were presenting a show to an audience and because of that Mark and the sisters couldn’t relax. Looking at Solinae’s expression, it would be too long till she cast a spell to shoo off the young men and women who were curiously looking at them.

Based on what he could see what the archmages were doing, it would probably take them some more time so Mark decided to replicate the RV so he and the elven sisters could stay inside. Hamil, Dozon, and Lorendo were still assisting the archmages but they could enter the RV anytime they wanted to rest. He didn’t care about the expression of the audience and the archmages when he summoned the RV, he and the sisters immediately went inside.

Inside the RV, the elven sisters expertly connected their laptop to the huge television and connected it to the electricity so it could charge. Their movement was so smooth that there was a sense of incongruity. In Mark’s opinion who wouldn’t feel a little confused seeing elven women wearing medieval attire smoothly operating modern gadgets?

After the movie was ready, the sisters retrieved some snacks and drinks from the refrigerator and continued watching their movie. Mark just smiled and continued reading his web novel.

After a couple of hours, Hamil, Dozon, Lorendo, and the three archmages from Narcone followed by a guard who probably had a higher position entered the RV.

“Mark, the archmages are done investigating the warp gate and concluded that there’s no problem. We can now go ahead and put up the sign that would announce the warp gate’s function and price. We will also begin distributing the flyers in the city. This is Captain Durand who is assigned to this project.”

Mark greeted the archmages and the captain and invited them for lunch. The captain was about to decline but with a glare from the archmages, he stopped. He served some of his best dishes and the three archmages and the captain were impressed based on how fast they ate the food. The circus leaders were now wearing full-blown smiles on their faces.

“Mark, can you leave this RV here so we can have a base that we can use to work here?” Hamil asked tentatively and Mark just nodded.

Mark saw that the circus leaders were truly happy when he agreed to leave the RV with them to use while they were in Narcone. After that, he immediately went back to his RV in the circus to join his family there.
